  1. Thats one instance. I doubt that gangs would survive as long as they do without *some* idea of what they were going to do. But honestly, this is more about 'general' criminals and not how specific gangs conduct themselves. Average criminals do consider things so they dont get caught. If they do, theres no point in doing a crime in the first place. You don't need to have a doctorate for that crap.
  2. As I said before. If the robberies were more thought out and legit *interesting* than running into a store and putting guns to heads and stealing stuff, I might be more inclined to have more interest. The thing is, its tiring RPing the same song and dance every day. Change it up a bit. Lure people.
  3. Lemme ask you something. Why do you think big name gangs, or even mafia still exist in todays IRL world? It certainly isn't by being stupid.
  4. By that logic, IMO, if criminals were as stupid as you claim, I think the streets would be pretty mopped up by now by LEOs.
  5. Uh, it can happen. I'm pretty curious to know what your experience with Illegal RP is. You guys keep saying we don't understand. If we don't, then please by all means educate us. My idea of playing a criminal character is someone who is patient, cautious, and strikes when he knows the victim is at a clear disadvantage. Be careful who you trust, because not everyone is truly as nice as they first appear. Thats what my criminal would live by.
  6. Obviously at face value it does. But try some unique methods of robbing rather than the obvious "rush in guns blazing demanding money". Like @Martyn's reply--that was interesting and creative. Try scenes that aren't always going to the victim's turf. Lure people out. Make a friend that you rob. This is so much more interesting and engaging to me, and honestly? I would be on board with a robbery like this.
  7. Man, I'll tell you exactly what my character has been doing. Sitting in his apartment working on graphic art, or working at Skull Clutch doing tattoos for people. Otherwise I haven't logged on. The few times I have been to Skull Clutch to work, there have been robberies. My character does not make enemies. He is generally kind and likeable. And as for talking my way out of a robbery? Kinda difficult to do when tney are shoving a gun at your head and expected to RP fear, which I do. I do not see any RPers as lesser. That is you putting words in my mouth. Again, for the maybe TENTH time. I advocate for illegal RP, but something should be done that cuts down the frequency of robberies. As someone else said, there is so much more engaging RP that could be had as an illegal RPer to make money and have some cool RP.
  8. According to some people earlier, the whole city is gang ridden. So I'm kind of at a loss here? Where should I be going and or working to actively avoid this? Because clearly I've heard nothing and found nothing. If there is, I will very gladly move there.
  9. You're missing the point. Its not about the damn items we're worried about losing. At least I'm not. The thing that is annoying me most, as is some of the others in the thread, is that we are being taken away forcefully to do robbery RP too often, from otherwise meaningful RP. There was a few people that mentioned something similar to this in the thread earlier better than I just did, but this seems to be going right over people's heads. We arent saying there shouldn't be robberies, we arent saying illegal RP should be abolished, etc. it is TOO FREQUENT for some people. Regardless of where someone lives IRL, LA, whatever--I am highly, HIGHLY doubtful that they are constantly looking over their shoulders when out and about or getting robbed/working at a location that gets robbed 3 times a week. This is the main issue here. Its tedious and boring when you are forced to 'deal with it' nearly any RP session you try to do something OTHER than be forced to play victim of a crime. FFS if I wanted to do that, I'd buy robbery simulator on Steam.
  10. Uh... because thats where my character works??? I already had him move from Vespucci to try avoiding that crap.
  11. If wearing 'flashy' stuff is what makes someone a target, I clearly should be on the last leg of what someone should consider a target for my character. He literally looks like a typical lanky guy with a beanie, jeans and tshirt with generic tennishoes. You shouldn't have to hire body guards for basic every day journeying. I literally log on, and go to the Morningwood tattoo parlor. I don't drive around in a fancy car, my character is far from combative and rarely makes enemies. *shrug* And honestly? Robbing a tattoo parlor seems pretty ridiculous as a target to begin with. You'd generally have better targets closer to a club as people are leaving or even restaurants.
  12. Of course, though with the rate the robbers are expecting IC responses (or at least it seems like they are A+ league typists in this instance) it ends up making you feel like they will end up shooting you if you don't comply while they are spamming you. Every time I've been robbed or had an altercation with a criminal RPer like that, they just spamspamspam without giving anyone time to digest the situation they were suddenly whipped into. Now, I won't generalize, because I know some illegal RPers who are respectful, but 9 times out of 10, its been the spam brigade. Typically I do try to let whomever I am RPing with know of my disabilities right off the bat, but you feel a lot of pressure with the people who spam at you. (Mind you, this really isn't much of a problem that I have with robberies. Just the frequency of robberies, and not having paths to actively avoid them that I have issues with. For example, my character thought moving away from Vespucci to a bit closer to Morningwood would be better, but it seems like he's traded spots for the same spots, just different colors.)
  13. In my case, 99% of the time, the robbers are constantly screaming/yelling at you as a victim, and it happens in an instant--you aren't even sure what the hell is going on and your trying to figure out how you're going to respond. Then the robbers accuse you of 'stalling'. I personally have carpal tunnel, and other physical disabilities that make me type a bit slower on TOP of that. I never intentionally stall. I try to read the emotes, and whats going on before I react. Some robbers don't even wait for "..." and are shoot happy.
  14. Bolded 1: In IRL, I certainly don't get robbed every time I walk out of the house. That is what has happened when I play anymore, and I'm just tired of it. Perhaps I am just growing a bit tired of the server in general? But I recall enjoying it a lot more before when it didn't seem like being a victim of a robbery wasn't a daily RP occurrence. Bolded 2: Being forced into robbery RP near every time I play? I wonder why I have issues. If it happened maybe *once* a week? I'd be more okay with it. But its becoming too frequent to justify, which is why I am getting to be the way I am/made the thread. There's other people who have answered in the thread already who have the same mindset, but I'm almost 99% certain there's even more, but they don't speak up because its pretty much the status quo. Bolded 3: Its honestly not my call to make, as it isn't my owned business. But depending if I even stick around, if it ends up happening again, I might just end up doing that. The day of the latest robbery I literally came on just to help out, because I hadn't been on in a while.
  15. Bolded 1: I agree with this rule. I just feel that it should be taken a step further. Just being a criminal-based character generally should carry more risk of CK than the average joe. And on that note, I'd even say legal/police players should have similar risk, because they are putting their lives on the line to protect others. Bolded 2: I definitely feel that victims should also be eligible for CK's if they fail to RP that fear. But right now, it happens so much that for some characters, I can see why they might say "you know what? this has happened to me for the 100th time, I'm not taking this shit" and the character decides to fight back. I definitely feel that both characters should be eligible for a CK at that point, based on the outcome of the winner/loser of the scuffle. Bolded 3: Thats mainly the point here, though. It should be done much less, and considered heavily much more due to said risks. Robbery or any crime for that matter shouldn't be something you just walk out the door one day and say "lets do an armed robbery." But, either way. The suggestions are made in order to attempt finding better solutions. Criminals, and even LEO's, should be regarded as more 'disposable' characters, rather than long-term ones. They are risky character types. If I ever made either one of these character types, I would most certainly not expect to keep them long term. If I screw up, it would be on my character's own head.
