  1. How is spraying graffiti IC gain..?
  2. That's exactly what the SD thread is for. You just have to serve the time associated.
  3. tw: even more nerd speak I have made a JSON file with 3000 entries. This is based off the assumption that in a worst case scenario that a business has 300 unique visitors in one opening. (about half total players of peak hours) Each visitor creating 10 events of their own on average. (1 entry, 8 transitions and 1 exit for example) If we assume each entry consists of the following data "scheme". (each entry has randomized data to try and replicate what a real result may look like) This provides a file consisting of 650 KB. Translating to 0.65 MB. If this one business were to maintain these numbers every day for a week. That would be 4.55 MBs. (A single image on your phone is about this size.) In an entire month, if that business were to maintain that constantly every day that would be 18.22 MBs. I've created a secondary scenario in an attempt to replicate "real-world" results. Let's say that in total, properties in GTAW with CCTV have 2500 unique visitors in a day. (about 3-4x peak hours). These players creating on average, 50 events (accounting for their actions across multiple properties, etc.), resulting in 125k entries in one day. This creates a document about 26.4 MBs for an entire day worth of CCTV. 184.8 MBs for an entire week. 739.2 MBs for an entire month. That's 75% of a gigabyte for a whole month of storing the entire server's CCTV data. I am more than open to wiping data after X amount of time, but to say that storage is an issue seems rather disingenuous. These are worst case scenarios, not accounting for downtime, etc.
  4. This is quite literally how the system is proposed to store data currently. Plenty of things already take up more data than this. DMV records, chat logs, bullet casings, blood samples. This isn't 1990. This is a non-issue.
  5. tw: nerd speak I don't know why it's being denied the fact that it can't just reveal the character descriptions to the player, due to "storage limitations". Internally, this is how I with my somewhat intermediate programming experience would design and implement it: Database entry consisting of the type of action (entry, attack, exit), the character ID of the individual being recorded, the camera's ID and the timestamp. This is quite literally the same amount of data proposed or even less then. When a player requests the logs from the server they'd be given a paginated result with standardized results based on the information I said above. The character's description already exists in the database. And it would be pulled to be provided as a part of the results with the stored character ID. Only the description would be provided to the player in their menu rather than all the info stored. EDIT: It is not fair to push a lazy design/implementation's flaws onto the already overwhelmed admins.
  6. +1 Other servers I've played have seemingly resolved the issue.
  7. Paddy makes some excellent points here. Yes, this is likely indicative of poor roleplay, but these are also the same people that get into shootouts over the last piece of gum and what have you. This can be traced back to a much deeper issue that needs to be looked into/stamped out. Posting about honestly, one of their lesser sleights to the roleplay as a whole isn't really worth anyone's time to be honest. If some text on a wall affects your immersion that desperately, I'm concerned.
  8. This is definitely an issue that's been created by the server with the amount of guns/shootings. Nothing that should be done OOCly about metal detectors directly as it will likely just cause more of these shootings to happen within club limits.

+1 Although I'd like some kind of context menu to access this somehow, sick of remembering 30 thousand commands.
  10. I have spent hours talking to SAPR both IC and OOC and they provide a roleplay experience more quality than most factions on the server, especially other LEOs. As was said here, just because you get pulled over for breaking the law doesn't mean they're bored. *If* SAHP were to become a thing, it should be another faction all together. I don't think seeing a mass resignation when the faction is restructured/renamed of rather high quality roleplayers would be fun for anyone.
  11. +1 This was something desperately missing during my time in SD, I hope that it gets implemented for LEO players both new and old at the very least.
