  1. The San Andreas Independent | News Politics World Legal Technology More | About Us Human Trafficking & Corruption Scandal Arises Midst Election Campaign cc. Sheriff Joseph Cline / https://face.gta.world/LSCoSheriff36 Los Santos, San Andreas / Tuesday, April 12th, 2022 by Rufus Laski Today (April 12th) at about 4PM, the 36th Sheriff of Los Santos County has posted to his Facebrowser account the following: An employee of the Los Santos County District Attorney's Office has been arrested and charged with prostitution. An unidentified off-duty San Andreas peace officer has also been arrested, in connection with this incident. The only details known at this moment is that the off-duty law enforcement officer was not an employee of the Los Santos County Sheriff's Department (LSSD). The charges brought against the off-duty peace officer are unknown at this time. The arrests were made as a result of a sting operation carried out by an LSSD Detective. The LS County Sheriff has also posted the following to his Facebrowser account: along with this transcript from the sting operation: cc. Sheriff Joseph Cline / https://face.gta.world/posts/237169 (profanities have been censored due to editorial policy) Shortly afterward, a petition for dismissal of charges has been filed with the Superior Court of Los Santos County. We've accessed the petition for dismissal. While it is clear that a legitimate arrest has taken place, it is unclear as to why the charges were dismissed. The LS County DA has refused to provide any comment against those allegations at this time. The scale of this case and timing seem interestingly convenient. Is all of this a part of the Republican election campaign? Are we dealing with a wide-scale human trafficking ring? Updated 4/12/2022 6:35PM The Los Santos County DA and the LS County Sheriff have engaged into some back and forth on their social media. We'll be providing insight into both side's statements. At about 5:30PM the LS County DA Gary Mikalchuk has posted the following to his social media: No information or evidence has been provided outside of this rebbutal to the remarks Sheriff Cline posted earlier. The DA's office claims that the defendant in question (Leah Maxwell) isn't an active employee of theirs. It hasn't been clarified whether Ms. Maxwell has been fired only following this incident or prior to it. It is definitely quite of a career degradation, from an assistant to the Assistant District Attorney to a cheap-priced prostitute. This alone speaks volumes about the DA's office. It is also noteworthy that the DA's office claims that Ms. Maxwell has "pranked" a detective. Prank in no way or form is a legally recognized term, thus the question - Can an illegal act (prostitution or soliciting of such) be excused as a prank? When questioned about receiving records of the employee in question, which is a legal right of any citizen in the country, was met with a deflecting reply that instead they could offer information about corruption inside the Sheriffs Department. Outside of deflecting from the question at hand, that could help bury improprieties and corruption in the District Attorney's Office; it instead offers a distraction that conveniently fits in line with their unfounded claims about the arrest of their possible employee and the Sheriff's Department. If the District Attorney's Office knows enough about corruption in the Sheriff's Department to tell the public, why was this never raised before? Why has no action been taken by the District Attorney to combat this corruption? Why does this only conveniently surface once their office is under heat? If their claim here is true, they dually recognize they have not only failed in their duties, but also promoted the existence of corruption within state systems. The San Andreas Independent shall at no time pass into the hands of any one interest, group, or faction; The integrity, independence, and freedom from bias shall at all times be fully preserved; The San Andreas Independent shall supply unbiased and reliable news services to newspapers, news agencies, broadcasters, and other media subscribers and to businesses, governments, institutions, individuals, and others with whom The San Andreas Independent has or may have contracts; That San Andreas Independent shall pay due regard to the many interests which it serves in addition to those of the media; and The first mission of The San Andreas Independent is to tell the truth as nearly as the truth may be ascertained. Company History The San Andreas Independent has been founded in Los Santos, San Andreas, USA in 2022. It is our goal to provide reliable and unbiased news in a timely manner. The core values set forth in our mission statement are the primary, and superior guidelines of The San Andreas Independent. Policies and Standards Ethics Policy: These policies are meant to guide The San Andreas Independent journalism as we deliver news and information in a rapidly changing media environment. We consider these guidelines to be a “living document” that we will continually modify and update based on feedback from our journalists, from our readers and from our perceptions of our changing needs. Because the circumstances under which information is obtained and reported vary widely from one case to the next, these guidelines should not be understood as establishing hard and fast rules or as covering every situation that might arise. Conflict of interest: This news organization is pledged to avoid conflicts of interest or the appearance of conflict of interest wherever and whenever possible. We have adopted stringent policies on these issues, conscious that they may be more restrictive than is customary in the world of private business. We accept no gifts from news sources. We accept no free trips. We neither seek nor accept preferential treatment that might be rendered because of the positions we hold. Exceptions to the no-gift rule are few and obvious — invitations to meals, for example, may be accepted when they are occasional and innocent but not when they are repeated and their purpose is deliberately calculating. Free admissions to any event that is not free to the public are prohibited. We do not accept payment — either honoraria or expenses — from governments, government-funded organizations, groups of government officials, political groups or organizations that take positions on controversial issues. A reporter or editor also cannot accept payment from any person, company or organization that he or she covers. And we should avoid accepting money from individuals, companies, trade associations or organizations that lobby government or otherwise try to influence issues the newspaper covers. Broadcast organizations, educational institutions, social organizations and many professional organizations usually fall outside this provision unless the reporter or editor is involved in coverage of them. Fairness: Reporters and editors of The San Andreas Independentare committed to fairness. While arguments about objectivity are endless, the concept of fairness is something that editors and reporters can easily understand and pursue. Fairness results from a few simple practices: No story is fair if it omits facts of major importance or significance. Fairness includes completeness.
