  2. CHAMBERLAIN, LOS SANTOS. (LSNN) -- The 15-year-old boy who police say was fatally shot in Davis on Monday during a gas station stop is being remembered as a boy who "loved his friends and family." Family and friends are in the process of organizing a gathered Sunday night for a candlelight vigil in memory of 15-year-old Malik Cortez Malik's family says they're heartbroken that this happened. He was only a week away from turning 16. They say that area isn't the safest and have a message for people watching "If I can leave a message for everyone it's just that safety first, family is very important, and you know, if there's anything that you guys can do just care about each other," said Malik's uncle Joshua Cortez. "Support each other, back each other up. This is very unnecessary." Shortly before 9:30 p.m. Monday, officers were called to Davis LTD on West Grove, between Forum Drive and Grove Street, police said. They arrived to find Malik on the gas station floor suffering from gunshots wounds to the upper body, investigators said. Malik was rushed to the hospital but later succumbed to his injuries In recent months, bloodshed in South Los Santos has increasingly been caused by bursts of gunfire from high-capacity firearms aimed at outdoor gatherings, leaving dozens of shell casings on the ground and multiple victims dead or wounded at once. The death is to be associated to a rise in gang tensions between teenagers from Strawberry and Chamberlain. "At the gas station, an altercation occurred that escalated to the fatal shooting," officials said.
