Michael, otherwise known as Slim Jim, is a resident of the Jordan Downs Projects in Rancho. A veteran of the community, Michael's parents have lived in the neighborhood for almost four decades, with Michael himself spending his entire life growing and living in the projects. In 2011, Michael's son Calvin, who had no involvement in the hood life, was fatally murdered in a gang-related shootout, mistaken by a rival of the Grape Street Crips. Michael suffered at the hands of depression and grief, resorting to numbing his emotions with hard drugs. This snowballed his addiction. These days, Michael roams Jordan Downs living off of donations and petty illicit activities to fund his habits.
