  1. Sunset at the Rising Star Festival BY FRANK NELSON Paleto Bay, SA - The sun is finishing its job for the day, but for the Rising Star Festival, things are just getting started. With temperatures rising above 80 degrees, it's a good thing they are starting with a good swim. The festival closed the day with a fantastic concert on the beach stage. The race participants, post-race The festival started with a swimming race along the Paleto Bay beach. The seven swimmers tried their hardest, but there can only be one winner. In this case, it was Ryan Randleman. Congratulations, from all of us here at LSNN. The race was quite hard to follow from the beach, but seeing those people fearlessly run into the ocean was very exciting. No doubt. While the sports enthusiasts were on their way, there was plenty to enjoy on the beach as well. Margaritas, for a start, were ready to be handed out and the sun was still doing its best to brown those who wanted a real tan. Heading straight for the water Post-race, the organizers went to work on getting the concert stage ready to blast out some tunes. The sun was setting, the waters had calmed down, the music was turned up. The Rising Star Festival had one more ace up its sleeve: an amazing arrangement of performers to bring this event to a close. As said in their advertisements: come for the race, stay for the concert. With pink skies and green margaritas, this was certainly an evening to remember. We can't wait to see what the next day will bring. The Rising Star Festival Stage > Comments are enabled. Username: Comment:
  2. Reviews: Wup et Dux BY FRANK NELSON Los Santos, SA - In the heart of Rockford Hills, on Portola Drive, you will find Wup et Dux. Some people report to have seen a dip in the area directly around the building this wonderful boutique houses in. No wonder, there is so much marble there is no real way the ground could stand up to all that weight. As a part of LSNN's reviews program, our team went to check out Wup et Dux and bring the experience exclusively for you! Wup et Dux If you make less than the average moviestar, there is not much for you to do here. Don't expect to buy yourself a nice pair of shoes for the price Didier Sachs does. Definitely not. This boutique is for the rich and famous, the crême de la crême of Los Santos. Don't believe me? This might change your mind. Wup et Dux has a beautiful handbag for sale made from alligator leather, further enriched with diamond. Want to take a look at it? Well, you will have to make an appointment for that. Buy it? You will have to dig deep at a price tag of $150.000. Don't take all this money talk as criticism though - this boutique is certainly worth visiting if you care about beautiful Rolexes and one of a kind dresses. The owners are wonderfully nice people who'd love to show you around. Known socialite Carry Saunders sells her own line here as well. It's all about being special at Wup et Dux. Maybe you'd like to finally spot that filmstar you adore? Try your luck on Portola Drive. Seraphina Ronen and Joel Avram; owners of Wup et Dux In conclusion, you better be prepared to spend a lot of money once you step through these doors. But if you do enter, you will be greeted by wonderful people and beautiful marble all around. Purely because of that, they already get 6 of the 10. The exquisite items they sell bumps that number up to 8. The fact that this reporter didn't get to take that alligator bag home means they won't get a perfect score of 10... Better luck next time! 3. Rattlesnake Saloon Review: 7 out of 10. "Rattling with charm!" BY FRANK NELSON Sandy Shores, SA - The Rattlesnake Saloon prides itself on false advertising. At least, that's what they claim in their ads, just like their free beer and topless waitresses. The bar, just down the road from the small town of Sandy Shores is exactly what you would expect to find in this neck of the woods. Wood on the walls, wood on the floor, a bar made from... you guessed it: wood. A place like this is all about feel: the atmosphere. You wouldn't and shouldn't expect the highest levels of luxury and service. It shouldn't be an issue as long as the atmosphere makes up for it. And they got it just right, probably without even trying. The first thing that hits you when you step inside is a typical smell. It's not a bad smell, it's probably a happy get-together of all the woods, soaked with beer. The cartwheel on the wall, holding up a dartboard, is another touch that makes it even better. And they probably didn't even have that in mind. The Rattlesnake Saloon gets it just right. Lots of establishments can feel a bit hostile when you first enter, especially in the countryside where communities are often already close-knit. I did not get that feeling, it felt welcoming. The prices of the drinks were right, and there was none of that 'modern country' feel. It felt authentic. The music being played was a bit of a surprise, a nice mix of 40s and 50s hits, like Bing Crosby and The Ink Spots. Certainly a place to remember on your travels. In conclusion, a place like this might not look very special, but it is extremely authentic. And that makes it worth a visit, the next time you are in Sandy Shores for some fishing. Don't expect much in the way of service: you will have you pick up your drink at the bar. The humanity! Rating: 7/10, rattling with charm! > Comments are enabled Username: Comment:
