  1. Yeah, I kinda know... But life doesn't allow me often to be online at a later time. In the weekends I am sometimes lucky to have people online a lot earlier. This weekend there were like 600+ people online, and everything started to become more alive in the city, so that was pretty cool. My character (Tomas Darcy) is on Facebrowser. Still trying to figure it out... so is he IC'ly as a boomer that he is(/ I am). Considering I want this all to work out. I am still a little green. Do you need donator status to open a business or have it open X amount of hours a week?
  2. In that case, I suspect that I am really playing at the 'wrong' time (UTC 12:00 - 18:00). I even had calls on the mechanic hotline that ended with "I need maintenance at a garage." "Sorry miss, I am only able to give road assistance at the current time." "oke, nevermind bye!" - riveting roleplay! Yesterday had two garages that popped open while I was on the server because they sent out an ad. Before I could give them a call or get to their location (they were in the city) they were already closed. It is really insane. Makes me wonder why there isn't a community garage with a somewhat similar system like the Truck Driver system. It seems most people I meet on the server are more worried about making cash than roleplay... so to counter these 200+ mechanics online at all times, if you use a community garage you will transfer 30-50% over to the government, as rent and commission. I mean I would love to work as an actual mechanic in the game and roleplay it all out, but if most of these properties are always closed/unavailable during my playtime it is hard to work with the owners to create a 'around the world' shift. From a branding standpoint (IC) that also just sounds mega smart, because during the daytime (UTC) all places are locked up, and probably when the US folk come out of bed places start to open up. But whatever... Truth, I am frustrated by the low amount of roleplay I had a pleasure to experience with nearly 40 hours on the server. My longest session was my job interview, then some random moments...but 5-10 minutes RP during a 1,5-2 hour play sessions just is disappointing for me. People seem so obsessed with making money when I am on, that the moment you initiate contact they tempt to run away or you get a one-liner. Even the borderline powergaming attempted robbery that happened to me still is in my top 5 best moments at this point, and that is just sad to be honest. So yesterday made a new character, one that stays primarily in the city in the hopes I will be able to enjoy more roleplay (as a civ). But I'll stop typing now, or I will really go onto a rant. Just wished I could find a nice group of regulars to just roleplay with man.. do some mundane (and stupid) shit with and have laughs. If I want to do job, I go play the actual game for progression... money is a detractor of any situation imho. But thank you all for replying on the post. It's much appreciated. 🙂
  3. Congratulations all on the position changes!
  4. Good to know their is one in Paleto Bay. I had my eye on the big gas station, never noticed there (suppose to be) is a garage there called Beekers Garage. Will look into that one a bit more, and see if some how I can be online around the same time to get an IC conversation going with them. During a drive I did notice there is one near Sandy Shore, didn't really get the name so don't quote me on it... thought it was something like Gorman Auto's or something. So luckily there are a couple around north of the city, but perhaps I am mostly unlucky with my playing time and their opening times not matching 9/10 times. I been driving around in my tow truck, just to IC'ly play around with it. There are no options to go 'on-duty', when not being part of a player business. The chat tells you to press 'X' in a tow truck to activate it, but nothing happens/is available beside the default vehicle wheel. I did learn via the GTA.World Discord that I will be part of the Mechanic Hotline the moment I step into my tow truck, but I haven't seen anything pop up confirming this is true or false (probably because I am not officially on-duty). Would've been cool to just 'help' random folk in the area, tow them to an actual garage and just get gone again. Something like a roadside assistance service/triple A (that is what the US people call it right?).
  5. I been playing daily on the server now, and my character is located in Paleto Bay. I am from western Europe, mostly play during the afternoon, and really have a tough time finding any garage that is open. I have been playing around with the idea of opening a garage myself in the Paleto Bay/Blaine County area, but I was just wondering if there are any around already. One I can perhaps contact, and do EU time shifts at. I wanted to sort of plug the hole during my playtime (with 250-350 players online on average), so I invested in a tow truck, became a mechanic, totally overlooking the fact they are basically useless (for a job) until you have an actual garage/building. But before going to find more ways to 'claim' a property, that joins the rest of desolate/locked up places in Paleto Bay (after my play hours), I was wondering if I could join a garage in this area of the map (if any are available). I would be surprised if the small town living folk don't have their own mechanic, and we are all forced to always go to the city to get a new wheel around a rim because off-roading went wrong.
  6. I don't hide this information. Anybody interested in what I am doing will get the info. There is no shame in it. People close to me know I am a roleplayer, have been since early 2000's. First all kinds of MMO's, later even jumped on D&D and the like, and allowed everyone with an interest into my introductory games. Even converted my wife and her sister into it... and they are FAR from RP/nerdy people. I even told the minister for our wedding ceremony, ROFL! He wanted to know my hobbies, and I even got him to check out some videos about it. I always just say... RP is like cooperative improv theater. Solves so many discussions and confusion.
  7. More realistic daily commute, especially the transport/trucking folk. I always seen them racing like crazy, single lane road going off road with sport cars to just get pass you. If it's one guy every once in awhile, sure whatever, but it's a constant thing I see. And I drive around like 80% of my time. Another one is small town/country roleplay and 'farmer' roleplay. Tractors tearing everything up, but all roleplay it like 'grab seedbag, put all in ground.' then start running. Small towns (at least when I am online) are desolate. Tons of 'businesses' with locked doors, and nothing to do.
  8. Thanks all for the suggestions and input. Really appreciated it. I must say that the LSPD civil employment angle sounds really cool. Never thought that would actually be a thing, so I will keep that in mind if I (IC'ly) ever return to Los Santos for a prolonged period. In the meantime, I have joined a trucking company, Palmas Logistics and Trucking in Paletto Bay (baby blue-ish vehicles driving around). This will surely bring me in contact with more players to roleplay — although I still have to do my first delivery. I will say that the 'American made' garage was mostly for RP, not to get rich. I don't know the meta on this server (and don't really want to know either), but if I wanted to get rich I would probably have to start robbing people and sell illegal weapons and such. The roleplay angle was mostly what I thought would be fun to play with, and perhaps slowly build up a clientele with an interest in it... incl. recurring neighbours just popping by to chat or show off their wheels. But who knows, perhaps in the future when I found my groove a little more within the server.
  9. Oh my mistake! So there is actual wheat farming in the game. That is already glorious in my opinion. Just out of curiosity, how does one start a business that produces livestock? Do I have to go to a specific place for that. Because that one will fit my backstory the best, as he is the son of a pig farmer from Ohio. Would be fun to roleplay that out now, since he is down on his luck and the big city life doesn't work out for him. Thanks for the discord link. I will check it out for more details on property management.
  10. Hi all! I have some questions considering the jobs (paid or RP-only) that are available on the server. I been driving around a bit, kept an eye on the advertisements, looked around these forums, and checked the discord, but I have yet to find something that fits my character. Currently my character Tomas Darby is mostly working as a Sanitation Worker, which is fun - but I don't get much roleplay out of it. Most places I visit are barren. So if there is a job that could also increase the likeliness of roleplay it is utmost welcome. Are there any jobs in the following category on the server (paid or RP only): - Agricultural/Cattle farming (something that 'creates food resources') I like the farming angle, but from what I could see it was only weed farming. My character wishes to stay on the legal side of things, so was just curious if that beautiful farmland near Grapeseed and Paleto Bay is actually used. If not available, perhaps generic food industry/production? - Postal Service (I don't have my 20 hour prerequisite yet to do the transport jobs) And a little separate, is there a post on the whole process of how to buy a property, and a map where you are allowed to set up shop? Personally, I feel it's too early for me as a player to setup shop, but once I got my 40 hours I might be up to start a legit business. I wouldn't mind rolling into a mechanic job IC'ly, learn the ropes (both IC/OOC), and eventually set up my own shop somewhere for bikes only and 'True American' vehicles. Thanks, and love the community (so far). You all are pretty nice and helpful. 🙂 Marcus
