  1. Public Gathers at Thanksgiving Fair Hosted By City Government Written & Photographed By Brooklyn Bell, 11/23/2023 Above: A view from the entrance to Legion Square, where the fair was hosted. This Thanksgiving, crowds gathered at Legion Square to attend a fair hosted by the city government's Department of Cultural Affairs, celebrating the holiday. Though a slightly unorthodox event, with the majority of Americans in their homes for Thanksgiving dinner, the fair proved popular, with attendance estimated to number in the sixties or seventies. Featured were a variety of private and government stalls, informational booths, live music, food, fireworks, and an appearance by multiple government officials, including Mayor Hank Preston. Above: From left to right, Mayor Hank Preston, Lieutenant Governor Noah Wade, and Deputy Mayor Frederick Coleman, preparing food for those present. Government officials spent part of the event wandering the fair, before engaging with the community at the food court, preparing and serving turkey, potatoes, vegetables, and more Thanksgiving staples. Afterward, the Mayor addressed event goers via loudspeaker to thank those in attendance, stating, "Your presence has made today truly special." Above: The Los Santos Police Department engages with an event goer at their stall. Several stalls went to our city's emergency departments, from the Los Santos Police Department, to the Los Santos Fire Department and SanFire. Speaking with Insider, Sergeant Tyrone Davis of the LSPD stated, "We are here to give the public an opportunity to chat with us in a fun environment, address concerns or ask any questions, really. [...] We are a lot more approachable here than we are when patrolling. Besides these community engagement efforts, we are also here to provide on site police presence, ensuring the safety of everyone around." Meanwhile, Public Information Officer Alex Jorgensen, a Deputy Fire Marshal with SanFire, told Insider, "As people are aware, as Office of the State Fire Marshal we enforce the... Fireworks Usage and Safety Enforcement Act. We're happy to be here to assist with the event in the capacity of being able to treat everyone to fireworks at the event. But, also spend some much needed time with the community we serve. [...] We would like to enjoy a safe and enjoyous [sic] thanksgiving with everyone here and we'd like to wish every [sic] a happy Thanksgiving From San Fire's Office of The State Fire Marshal." Above: A private stall belonging to 'Diversify', being manned by one Faith LaBelle (left). Several private stalls outnumbered those setup by governmental bodies; one such stall, belonging to the Los Santos born and headquartered alternative fashion magazine 'Diversify', received a multitude of visitors over the hours. Faith LaBelle, Editor in Chief at Diversify, told Insider, "We are promoting culture, and experimental art by showcasing our sixth magazine edition. [...] The event has been a success; we have had people who do not have access to digital spaces question us about the existence of our brand, and we have provided them with necessary guidance to our digital magazine. It has also been a space for us to interact with those that may be fans of our content..." Above: Fireworks! The evening was capped with a short fireworks display around nine PM, though some stalls remained open until crowds had filtered out. Similar events are no doubt planned for the oncoming holiday season, with the annual Christmas fair, also hosted by the Department of Cultural Affairs, likely to be next. 2. Mudslide on Cassidy Trail Cleared by Public Works, State Park Rangers Written & Photographed By Brooklyn Bell, 11/11/2023 Above: The western side of the trail blocked by State Parks as an excavator clears the debris. A small mudslide temporarily blocked access to Cassidy Trail this Saturday evening, with no injuries or damages reported. It's unknown when precisely the mudslide occurred, with one State Park Ranger, Ranger Gibbs, telling Los Santos Insider that she discovered the blockage around 7:30 PM. "I was just patrolling and spotted the mudslide, it was blocking the whole trail. Rocks, mud, some branches... all of that mixed together." Ranger Gibbs reported. "So I contacted our park staff and also public works to help us with the heavy rocks." Above: An excavator clears the last remaining portion of debris. The Department of Public Works arrived sometime later with the appropriate equipment to clear the mudslide. "The excavator was able to clear [the mudslide] away quite well, including the slightly larger stones." Julian Becker, an employee with the Department of Public Works and operator of the excavator on scene, told Insider. "It felt like it took longer to get the stuff here than to work with it!" Sources on scene suspected the mudslide was caused by the weather, with reports of heavy rain occurring the night prior likely responsible. Though the debris was enough to necessitate immediate clearing, the trail was reopened immediately after the mudslide was removed. Above: A coyote from a nearby den relaxing after the scene was cleared. Wildlife was present nearby, but sources reported that no discernible damage occurred to the animals, their dens, or habitat in general. At time of writing, the trail is free for use once again, though caution is naturally advised, especially in damp conditions or directly after rainy weather. Comments Are: Enabled Name: Comment:

  4. Brooklyn Bell Photojournalist About me! Hey! My name is Brooklyn Aoife Bell. I've been a photographer since I was about twelve years old, if you count running after school friends with an old digital camera. Nowadays, though, I keep most of my photography analog, unless I'm sprucing up an article or going on a client's request. Though it's totally not exclusive, I've got a particular interest in instant film; Polaroid, Fuji, you name it! I just love the way instant feels; it's a challenge to shoot with in all the right ways, and the limitations create a unique experience and end product alike. There's one perfect, blink-and-you'll-miss-it moment where the perfect shot resides, and if you don't get it right, it's near impossible to capture that moment again. Even when you do finally get the perfect piece, you need to take care of it, or it'll degrade with time-- I won't wax philosophical too long, but it's not unlike any other chance in our lives, or memories that we need to nurse lest they fade away, right? As for what I actually shoot, it's just about anything. Sometimes it's sirens, sometimes it's landscape, sometimes it's just human moments. I've always wanted to capture the raw realities of day-to-day life in Los Santos, good and bad. Sirens are hardly new to any of us, and it's important not to forget those horror stories-- equally, though, it's too easy to get lost in the macabre and lose sight of the moments that keep you going. I aim to strike that balance. Admittedly, a high-octane stringing blog might be best found elsewhere, but if you want a collection of unique and memorable moments from all walks of life captured in a nostalgic lens, pull up a seat. 5. ENB Name : PRSA - PhotoRealistic San Andreas ENB 2.0 ENB latest version : 2.0 (October 24, 2018) ENB download link : https://www.gta5-mods.com/misc/prsa-photorealistic-san-andreas-enb Note: Advanced in-game photography basically requires this mod, if you want to control things like exposure and depth of field on the fly for different photos. Personally I can't do any photography without it, as the only other way to achieve the desired effect would be to spend about 10x the amount of time in photoshop. It's also basically 'complete' and doesn't get updates as a result, so it should be easy to whitelist the one time.
  6. On the 21/MAR/2023, at approximately 23:00, State Parks Peace Officers were tasked with the apprehension of warrant suspect Ada Ivy, AKA 'The Morse Code Killer', by state government officials following a credible and actionable tip that the suspect was located within an abandoned farmhouse north of Paleto Bay. Units were subsequently briefed and dispatched to the site, under the direct oversight of state officials. No other agencies were involved at this time. Upon arrival, a perimeter was established and the site was investigated. The suspect was located and identified hiding within an abandoned barn, and was subsequently taken into custody by attending officers. No injuries were sustained, nor was the suspect harmed in any way. During the Park Ranger's investigation, no other individuals were located on site, nor was any contraband. Following the apprehension of the suspect, the site was cleared, and the suspect was transported to a holding cell in the San Andreas Park Ranger's Paleto Headquarters. There, the suspect was detained before ultimately being handed over to the LSSD's Major Crimes Bureau for processing and arraignment after a brief waiting period. We commend our Rangers for their swift, safe and effective action, as well as their bravery and dedication in carrying out state orders. Such conduct emphasizes our mission statement of protecting our community, and we look forward to continuing to ensure the safety of all citizens every single day.
  7. There used to be more options but they're no longer accessible since the old surgery menu was disabled. Same goes for things like body freckles. Pls just enable old surgery menu again.
  8. Aggressive animal AI needs to be fixed first. Coyotes are literally relentless killing machines that continuously respawn in the same spot to attack you repeatedly if you don't run away after killing the first one. They also take about 6-7 headshots from an AR-15 to kill. It's abysmal.
  9. I think the rule on 'sensitive info' is a little too strict and a lot of things could be posted publicly that aren't. With that said, there are a lot of cases where it simply isn't realistic to post evidence publicly. For example, if someone reports a detective's ongoing investigation, putting that information out there publicly would completely ruin said investigation, even if it was deemed the detective did nothing wrong.
  10. The biggest danger of knives and brass knuckles is the fact somebody can pull one out of a front-pocket and hit you before you can react, realistically, so yeah, probably makes sense.
  11. Cool idea, but it runs into one problem that I would figure is the reason it never came into fruition in the first place: who actually wants to RP an IRS agent and go through people's 'taxes' all day? Maybe a couple people, but it's hard to recruit for concepts that are much less niche already. I just can't see enough people actually wanting to join said IRS faction.
  12. agreed but theres also a lot of people that hold W through the entirety of vespucci boulevard like it aint no thing
  13. I've realized with the uptick in compromised accounts/attempts to breach accounts as of late that the MDC is kind of lacking in security. You need someone's password, but if you do have that, there's no two-factor authentication or any other method of security for the MDC specifically, which feels like an oversight considering the damage one can do to the whole server through the MDC if it's abused, rather than just to the hacked account specifically. Could we add some sort of additional security to it? Two-factor authentication, an additional PIN not connected to the account itself, something like that? It would reduce the damage one can do if they hack a player's account. Honestly, there should also be two-factor authentication for logging in in-game, which currently there is not, but that's a separate issue.
  14. I have to disagree simply on the grounds that the GTAW weapon wheel is clunky and buggy. It's gotten a little better over time, but I still have consistent issues with it simply not letting me pull my gun, getting stuck in animation loops that freeze me up entirely, etc. For those reasons I use the old weapon wheel, which can cause that bug that pulls my weapon faster (which I seem to have no control over, afaik), but the alternative is battling the script to let me actually use my gun. I think fixing the old weapon wheels issues, or making the GTAW weapon wheel more reliable would both be a better solution to the problem at hand. Also, because of all the weird LEO/Illegal bashing in this thread, I'm an LEO, so. No, this isn't 'I want to keep my script abuse because I'm illegal' like some people seem to be suggesting.
  15. As someone who's been doing GTAW LEO RP since 2018, and has both trained new faction members and occasionally been apart of recruitment: I can confirm, speaking on nobody's behalf and just my own, that this isn't true. However what I can note with my experience is that the process for joining most LEO factions could use work. The intention is to filter for a high level of roleplay ability, but the way this is done is often flawed; written tests and backstory quality is, in my general roleplay experience, more to do with someone's ability to write an essay than their ability to roleplay, and that's the primary method used to filter through applications. That is worth complaining about, I think. It's better once you get to the trainee stage; then it's all RP ability and IC stuff, but the applications? More to do with being a good writer, not a good roleplayer. There's crossover, sure, but it isn't the same thing. I'm not sure this applies precisely to your situation or not, but in a general sense, yeah, it could use some work.
  16. i agree with it being offensive but even completely detached from that: 99/100 times it's cringey shit roleplay that is an OOC attention grab and nothing more. that probably shouldn't be allowed and definitely not so common? doesn't seem like a hard equation to even just attack it from that angle
  17. A weird thing about this - despite my previous posts - is while Paleto and Sandy take seven minutes to get to, it also feels strange to say that's not considered far away. It's on the other side of the map, that's pretty far. A seven minute drive is actually really long in-game, but also it objectively isn't at all. It always feels like Sandy and Paleto are 'out in the countryside', but it just so happens that basically takes no time to get to at all. I don't think anybody should say it takes longer than seven minutes, but yeah. The map scale is just kinda fucked for realistic time, which is what causes confusion. If there was a ruling everybody could look at it would help a lot, whatever that ruling is. It's like confusion around LC vs NY until that was clarified. Some people presume X, some people presume Y. It just needs a statement on what we're supposed to do.
  18. I think it's mostly just an issue because most of these things exist for OOC reasons, but then the lore team took 2 minutes to try and explain them ICly with no consistency or sense whatsoever and it's fucked everything up. Pls fix.
  19. If the lore is inconsistent with the playable being one big area/county/jurisdictional blob that is for some reason only ten square miles, then the lore should be changed accordingly. The in-game map says that Los Santos is one big blob. Therefore it should be one big blob. And it takes seven minutes to travel across it. Change dumb liveries if they don't make sense. Sandy and Paleto are in the unincorporated area, which is literally just 'Los Santos or not'. That's the only difference in banner, service, law, etc. That's the only difference between them and Davis. That's the only difference there SHOULD be, and all that affects is like 2 laws that specifically outline it; otherwise there's no inherent difference whatsoever. The rest is 1:1. South Central cops can go out there, because it's seven minutes away. The lore team is utterly inconsistent on this, though, and it needs to be clarified. This is how I think it should be, but whether or not the server is in this state seems to change every 3 seconds at the vague whim of a couple of admins without any degree of warning. I'm saying keep/make it this way, but also, jesus christ, please clarify, admins.
