  1. I don't know if this is considered standalone but more like a unit. Unless you were selling the whole complex!
  2. Exactly, I'm suggesting balancing out of duties and roles. If there is a duty that doesn't seem to fit a task force, create one internally and recruit from within. Doing this will let each unit/department/faction focus on their specific task. This way, it's not a handful of Detectives who take on every case under the sun inflating their case logs while most criminals are waiting forever for an RP involving their illegal faction.
  3. The little consensus here is that this should not be an entirely separate faction but a separate department of an already existing one for law enforcement. This focused task force would also remain on the local level, so the department would have another name like "Alcohol and Firearms Agents," as an example, to be a branch off of the ATF. The AFA would be a smaller group to start, possibly a team of 5, all recruited from the pool of the already active LEO's who are interested in this RP.
  4. Maybe it is just my reaction, but thinking hypothetical as a criminal, my responses could differ depending on who's knocking at my door. If it were just one detective in a suit, I might be inclined to chat with him to give him misleading information. If it were FBI agents dressed down and not in full gear, I probably wouldn't answer. If it's ATF with rifles trying to kick my door down, I might arm up if I haven't surrendered. It all varies, I believe, depending on the agency. I don't think ATF makes house calls for information. If they show up, they're there for a real reason. But I do completely understand your point. Then to build off of this, my suggestion of a task force such as this could be injected into the already existing factions and help out the roles by not spreading one department too thin. I wonder if you added some flair to a position other than "detective" if it would help with recruitment or provide more interest from existing LEO's to apply for a new task force such as this.
  5. So no, they don't, and do they have plans on doing anything like this in the future? My whole suggestion is an injection of this agency, even if it's under the branch of existing bureaus that will recruit from already active LEOs. (I'm not trying to be mean here, I'm asking questions to help round out this suggestion.)
  6. I can picture a hypothetical scenario where the criminals just think of them being raided by "regular cops," so they try to fight back. If they were to be raided by the ATF they know they're in trouble and it's a reason why the ATF is knocking. Like if a cop knocked on my door, I would be like, what the hell? If a swat team knocked on my door, I would be like, WTF!?
  7. Right, it doesn't have to be anything completely separate as long as it has its sole purpose. As long as the other agencies know when it's a case for another department to handle. Then through the proper chain of command, they can hand it off. I don't think two departments should handle every different kind of case.
  8. My title is ATF (Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms) Like Agency, hence "Like Agency." I don't understand how you still haven't picked up the fact that I'm using ATF as an example. In the modern day they still have an ATF and ATF like agencies, so what's your point?
  9. Do the LEO factions actively follow crimes, create leads, interrogate and execute sting operations directly about alcohol, tobacco, and firearms with the full intent to lower these illegal activities?
  10. If the ATF sees a brewing site in the woods, they can do some investigative work, do a stakeout, and then see if whoever is brewing is selling it illegally. That is the premise; scale doesn't matter. It's as if they're breaking the law and the RP here. The whole point is to do investigation work on the law side and the criminals have to be smarter about their activities. This opens up a whole range of RP possibilities. I don't think we have to follow each line of reality when it comes to RP in a virtual space here.
  11. And if you do get by those overzealous regulations I'm sure someone on this forum is WAITING to exhale about how your char SUCKS.
  12. No one is saying this has to be a Federal Agency or has to involve the DOJ.
  13. I understand that we wouldn't need it to be a federal matter, but someone mentioned we have U.S. Marshalls. I would only isolate it into the government structure we currently have. This will hopefully lead to more Government roles or processes needed to create checks and balance system for crime and law. The request is not specifically ATF, but ATF is an example of a focused task force that deals directly and only with three things. The agency request here doesn't have to be Federal, and as you said, California Bureau has a counterpart agency which we can form here to separate these investigations. I would have to disagree with you because an agency that does the investigative work-limiting and eliminating illegal brewing for distribution, would be nice. The same agency will actively work to get illegal guns off the streets instead of waiting for crimes to happen.
  14. I think he summarizes it very well. I know not many want to add a third faction on this server. There's a critical point in this that Bospy doesn't touch on, and that's the deployment of an overhaul change in roles for all agencies currently active. When an agency is formed around that specific department, then the role is only handled by that department/faction. For example, if there was a dead body reported by a hiker but that hiker called it to local PD, local PD would arrive to see that it's not in their jurisdiction and sees that it was a homicide. The local PD should radio the State Police whose jurisdiction it is, and then when they arrive, they can contact their homicide department if they have one or hand it over to local homicide. If local homicide finds out that the homicide was related to a failed firearms deal, then they would contact the ATF to see if they had any information they can share of the victim or if anything has been heard of the murder. ATF then can decide if there is something to pursue here. Bospy implies that potentially separate agencies or internal agencies don't want to work together. A complete overhaul of roles will sort of make cooperation dependent on this. If a local PD tries to bust an arms deal then their commanding officer should shut them down. They then should transfer all their information to the appropriate agency, and local PD should only be used upon request for these matters. I wouldn't want a homicide detective an arms bust, just as I don't want to order a burger at a Chinese restaurant. I believe there's enough crime out there to create an actual agency for investigative work. If we restructure all roles of each unit, department, and LEOs, we wouldn't have a jurisdiction issue as long as commanding officers know what their department handles.
  15. If that is the case I hope they provide them with a real impactful AGENCY needed to stand on their own. I think if they’re not separate they’ll just be treated like normal Police and won’t carry the same weight as a specific agency. This will be in the mentality of the officer and the criminal, and it will give you a watered-down experience of RP. (IMHO)
  16. Joint agency operations are a perfect solution, so we don't have 100 patrol cars patrolling the streets. This way, a percentage can have a different task as different task forces would balance out specific crimes in the city. (Exp.) We don't need a whole Special Victims Unit, but maybe a handful that works with the lawyers, judges, and other agencies to bring down the baddies and get them their punishments.
  17. So after 25 pages, we've concluded that EVERYTHING is pretty much overplayed by unoriginal people from an unoriginal world to RP an overplayed game. 😛
  18. Do you think maybe spread the current registered/active LEO's into different divisions instead of other agencies that do a specific task within the server? This way, we don't have 20 patrol cars driving around. A different agency will give LEO's more of a purpose and more RP if they're interested in applying for a different role within the law enforcement field. ATF wouldn't be recruiting new players to add more LEO's to the server, but it will pull from the currently active pool.
  19. I think there should be a backlist advertisement, but it doesn't get pushed city-wide. Ads like these should have to register at some ad place to look at those daily or weekly IG ads. Something like an old-school IG Craigslist.
  20. Short description: Create an agency that handles all things related to Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms. Detailed description: The ATF would locate brewers or brew sites and stake them out to see if they are selling their brew without a brewing license. ATF agents would do the investigation work and only execute a sting operation with the help of local law enforcement only when they've uncovered enough evidence of an illegal operation. Most raids would have to be approved by a judge after the ATF or ATF Agent has provided enough evidence. Operations could range from a brew kit in the woods to a full-blown brewing operation in a barn. ATF would also locate the cache of illegal firearms through undercover sting operations to turning confidential informants. The ATF agent can execute undercover operations to arrest a low-level arms peddler and press them for more information to get them to turn on their suppliers for reducing sentences and fines. Use the CI (confidential informant) to go undercover to gather more evidence until the entire organization is taken down piece by piece. Commands to add: /knockATF /Placewire /Panicbutton Items to add: ATF vest, or coat, or something agency-related. A wire you can place on a person will transmit conversations in the proximity of the person wearing it remotely. The panic button option is used for who ever is wearing the undercover wire to use in case if they're in trouble and want law enforcement to intervene. How would your suggestion improve the server? The ATF will add more balance to some of the crime that goes on in the server. An ATF agency will bring a new host of RP opportunities to law enforcement and criminals alike. An agency like this will start to shape more of the judicial process and law enforcement roles. Having another task force capable of doing joint operations with other agencies will create more dynamic situations only possible with such a specific focus on criminal activates. ATF will be a rich opportunity to be on both sides of a stakeout, investigation, integrations, manhunts, informants, undercover agents, sting operations, and more. Additional information: If we can keep it ATF, that would be great since it would be an agency, especially for these three things that way, it slims other agencies' focus and doesn't overstep jurisdictions/roles.
