  1. Detailed Description I personally love the fact that people are putting time and effort into publishing IC news articles. In real life, the news is a topic that often gets discussed between friends, families and co-workers. It allows people to form opinions and develop a sense of interest and concern for their community. It's something people in a community can bond over or argue over. Everyone experiences this, because the news is simply unescapable in the age of social media. However, in this roleplay community, I feel like following the news is something optional. This is sad because it could really help to immerse new players into the server lore. I can also imagine it's not a rewarding job for the people who spend hours writing these articles. Therefore, I think the news should be more "in your face", whether you like it or not. This would simulate how, in the real world, the news is extremely hard to ignore. Currently the news is just a section on the forum that can be completely ignored. Additionally, scrolling through the news on a forum can be a bit boring and uninviting. Real news websites use big headlines and eye-catching thumbnails, but this is simply not possible due to the forum design. Therefore, my idea is to add a NEWS app to the in-game phones, similar to the Google News app design (see screenshot below). Using this app, players can scroll through nice-looking headlines with thumbnails. Clicking on a headline will redirect to the relevant forum post where the full article can be read. All newspaper companies should be able to link their articles on this app (including official press, online news, magazines and blogs). However, the official press should probably be ranked higher on the news feed. Additionally, there should also be frequent notifications when new articles are available. Even if you don't have time to read the articles, just noticing the article titles will help keep you up to date with the server lore. Relevant Commands/Items a NEWS app on the /phone that links to forum posts frequent notifications to inform people of the new articles available How will it benefit the server? Most importantly, it will help generate more interest and awareness for the server lore. It makes the journalism job more important and mentally rewarding, since EVERYONE will see your work It's a nice little detail that adds realism to the server
  2. Short description: Allow civilians to plant moles and trackers using a fair system, where everyone is allowed to check their belongings and surroundings for bugs (e.g., /findbugs). The time it will take to find the bug depends on the experience of the bug planter and the amount of time that was spent planting the bug. For example, a tracker that was quickly placed on a vehicle will be easier to find than a tracker that was planted carefully with a lot of time. Detailed description: / Commands to add: \placemole [difficulty level: 1-5] [short RP description where the bug is placed]: A higher level takes a higher amount of time to plant the bug. The bug will be planted once the timer has passed. Canceling any time sooner and you'll fail to plant the bug (e.g., when you think someone's coming). \placetracker [difficulty level: 1-5] [short RP description of where the bug is placed]: Each level takes a different amount of time to plant the bug. The bug will be planted once the timer has passed. Canceling any time sooner and you'll fail to plant the bug (e.g., when you think someone's coming). \findbugs: This command will start the searching process for moles in your surroundings, or trackers when sitting in a car. Devices that were quickly placed (i.e., difficulty level 1) will be found immediately. Other devices will take longer to find depending on the difficulty level. There should be an upper bound: for example, after 10 minutes you'll be sure that all devices were found, if there were any. Items to add: GPS tracker: can be attached to a vehicle. Mole: can be placed somewhere to listen to nearby conversations. Bug tracker (optional): can be used to speedup the amount of time it takes to find a mole or tracker. How would your suggestion improve the server? More roleplay opportunities: private investigators, espionage between rivaling gangs and companies More fear while roleplaying: people will be more paranoid and check their surroundings for bugs before having a secret meetup Creative strategy: If you find a mole in your house you could choose to not destroy it, but instead provide the spy with false information. Creative strategy: If you find a tracker in your car you could choose to not destroy it, but instead lead the spy to a trap or ambush. Additional information: I found a similar post from 2019 suggesting a detective system that is similar to other RP servers. However, those systems can be prone to abuse, as only certain players (with the detective job) are able to find the moles and trackers. This creates an unfair disadvantage for the player being spied on. I advocate for a fair system that allows everyone to find bugs. If it is necessary to maintain a realistic environment, there could be an OOC detective applications that will make sure characters have good reasons to use these devices. However, finding bugs should always be allowed by any player, without having to apply for anything.
  3. I am writing this suggestion after seeing the topic about managing websites related to GTA World. Some factions and companies actually have an IRL website that is used for IC purposes, e.g. http://bluewater-logistics.com/. I myself am thinking about making a website similar to http://lsanalytica.com/ for GTA World. Currently, Facebrowser is the only website that can be used from within the game. I feel it would greatly improve immersion if people could visit other IC websites in the game, instead of using an external webbrowser. Especially for websites that need to be visited often. Given the price is fair, it would be nice if the ability for your website to be visited in game could be purchased in the World Points Shop.
