  1. I love IV and V as separate entities that focus on different features. V feels like a series of hiest movies with the story, and that mission set up carries over to the online. Huge range of vehicles, guns, large map with little filler. IV just hits different, focuses on the oppressive atmosphere and story, and the concept art design and overall "feel" enforce this. While I dabble between the driving mechanics of each, I do like the more weighty feel of the IV engine's handling. And even without the abundant traffic AI, Liberty City would still feel like a huge-yet-interwoven claustrophobic concrete jungle (brb gonna go emulate the Predator game of the same name...) I would have loved to have the consequences of the IV mechanics in GTAW; I'm not THE best driver but I usually always tilt my camera at junctions to simulate checking for oncoming traffic. Seem my share of collisions of players driving sports and muscles at 120ish/+ and them the vehicles spinning in the air like a star collect animation from a 3D Super Mario game. The emphasis on the lower acceleration and build to top speed, combined with the longer braking physics based on your speed give more of a "only so many close calls exist" to anyone driving on the map, be it taxi driver, underground racer or a civ going to the beach etc etc. That being said, I take V for what it is and it IS stills great piece of sand box fun time tech. With the Arcady handling of the vehicles in V's engine over IV, it's down to us RPers to simulate our character's driving skills and the real-life physics of those vehicles. Still, IV just, broken record here.... "feels" good.
  2. Just me personally, but I reckon spreading the recourses over Blaine county would be a good idea. (Grapeseed/Paleto/Harmony etc). For me it wouldn't be an issue to drive a few miles as I can still keep my Blaine characters in Blaine, as opposed to taking my rusty junker to the city 😉
  3. Hold my hands up; since this was my first RP experience ever when I signed up in March, I used a character that was a template of myself (Brit come to LS for fresh start blah blah). It was a starting point but I got bored of essentially lending IRL elements. Nowadays I RP as an American and use tastes and attributes completely different from myself. I even set radio stations of specific music genres to match those characters, as it adds to that character's interests and not my own IRL (if someone is riding in my vehicle it's kinda nice not having a full blown convo about Mass Effect all the time and explore something fresh for the sake of IC elements. Though that last bit went off topic, I think it's important to find a good organic ethnic background that isn't your own, as well as the other stuff on top. My IC landlord has never used a computer much in their life bit obviously they have some knowledge IRL getting RAGEMP set up XD
  4. Even something like /me nestled awkwardly into the chair, or /me maintains a stone-cold stare to John Doe as he places his right hand over the blood-stained switchblade, these tell the story of our character and how they interact with the world. Who are they? How do they see the world and people? How do they greet others? The way they hold a cigarette, butt it out or toss it? All of these /me's are a means to define the interaction of different characters. I admit that animations do compliment scenes and one where my character threw their hands in the air when they got excited and thought a friend was arresting them when they weren't would have been as funny if I hadn't used "said anim". But I don't think they're mandatory to the /me's for story telling. I've RPed with quite a few people that didn't use a single anim while interacting but they had the right length of /me, not too short or overly complicated.
  5. /me wakes up in the city and does /contacts to see which of my buddies are "awake".
  6. It's mad to think that nearly 8 months ago, I walked I to a bar to order a drink with the torso texture set popping out of my sleeves, got myself flustered because I was messing up my /pay command, and then my inv was full so I had to drop all the fish I got earlier in the day right on the dancefloor XD Most people here have the right idea factions. I was part of an unofficial civilian group living in a national trailer park and for a good while, everyday of my RP was spent with them. So they'd take my character to new dives, locations I'd forgotten about from the vanilla GTAV map, other players and ofcourse, being kind enough to /b or /pm me advice on commands or just how to be. One thing I will say; property. Figure out what you want to do in terms of a property first. Are you typically bothered about having your own place straight away, or would you just want to rent a motel room for now. This was my biggest puzzler to start out because I had no idea about the MAP page on the UCP main site. Familiarise yourself with that MAP because it shows you the location of every rentable form of motel room from LS to Paleto (acts as a spawn point for when your character "wakes" up and will help as a temporary residence for the location you desire to RP the most. And ofcourse there is a separate page for houses you can buy, while a little more limited to some city limits it's the easiest way to grab a smart property. Otherwise, hit the property page here on the forums after you've collected some IC cash. If you're in a scenario where someone is rushing you in b/ (or out of character chat), don't be afraid to ask for some advice from players around you. Say you're being robbed, there's a difference between someone playing a good role as a robber for their character development, and then someone who is just chain robbing and griefing for a play to win mentality. RP isn't about winning, the good scenarios are the true win. And welcome btw XD
  7. Some form of regulation or safe so e would be appreciated. Mainly, I picked up a tug a month back for a character as a means for them to RP living in it. I tend to keep it docked in game just as a port of call for sleep and interior recreation. I don't tend to VPARK as a means to avoid good illegal RP, but this whole thing has got my paranoia on the gauge XD
  8. Username; Brooklynn99 Comment; I hope that you're well and safe, Mercia. Wherever you are.
  9. Name: Rocky Nelson Phone: 2114096 Offer: I'm more than happy to pay the buyout amount. It's just a case of I've literally gotten off the plane back to LS and waiting for some benefit package to clear. Can more than likely pay this off this weekend but, if someone else beats me to it, fair is fair. Just a courtesy message 🙂
  10. Username: Brooklynn99 Comment: We spoke briefly at The Bay Bar in Paleto. I don't know if it's connected, but, there is an old wooden fort located in the West region of Mount Chiliad, overlooking the fishing pier. I took my bike up there a few days ago and it was derelict, but someone mentioned that a group of people may have been sighted there at night. Maybe just a camping trip, but there's been several sighting at a distance, and thought it "might" be connected to your case about the "totems".
  11. I have two main characters ATM, one is just getting by and has the bare essential vehicle and clothes, doesn't go to fancy restaurants or clubs. The other has an apartment and one classic sports car that I RPed as a "treat" from their wages. How you use your money is down to what you want from your character development. If you want a playboy/girl who has a good business and 5 suped up cars then it shouldn't be too hard to get that equity, whereas you should have enough money to get by and just RP not having that much if another character is working a clerk job. Does amuse me occasionally seeing a sports car occupant grinding the hell out of the fishing jobs though.
  12. I have a thing for the 79's muscle/sports car design, so I was pretty fond of my Declasse Stallion for awhile. Also into the VW counterpart, BF. I had no idea there was a retailer at Mirror Park that had the GTR!
  13. I agree. I just recently started RPing as working in the city and the mall seemed like a good spot to work and buy, but some of the stores are usually always locked, even the ones that are listed as recruiting employees.
  14. Depends on the situation. I've had what I consider good one on one conversations in RP when we'll mostly use dialogue and then through in a /me relevent to the context, whether it's long or short just depends. But a short /me is just as good. /me contemplates the question, rubbing their eyes in frustration. It had been a long day. Vs "It's alright, I'm not drunk!" /me is drunk. I had someone literally use that second one on me once and the short and simple delivery made for a hilarious scene. Describing too much just drags it out and it loses the punch. And even with long ones, at least with myself, I try and write my dialogue and /mes to compliment other player's time (it's not a /me off, everyone should get their turn of RP in). On that last note, I remember when I first started RPing and I was paired up with someone who was more-or-less showing off how much minuscule detail they could fit into checking the alarms on their boy racer car. Detail and research are good for your character, but writing your /me like an over-thought technical run down of a reactor system from a Star Trek fanfic isn't. (No diss to Star Trek btw 😉 ).
  15. I've actually been enjoying driving a less than average condition vehicle that doesn't come "fully modded" and doesn't go 120mph down the highway. I wanted to RP a nobody who isn't trying to get into college, buy 10 supercars or having some extra-soap opera background. My favourite RP is the interactions with different characters. Also keeping the regulations that you set for your character, you may have the money in your account but fighting the temptation to have a sandy shores resident buy a 1mil penthouse in the city because they have the cash and want to work in a casino.
  16. Username: Brooklynn99 Comment: I usually like to start a delate reply as thoughtfully as I can. But this is just stupid. The fact that these vehicles are being pushed into the dunce corner because individuals decided to ride them with wreckless intent or Rob others. This has nothing to do with these particular vehicles. So if people start driving over the place at high speeds and robbing people with muscle cars or sports car.... wait a moment, that's already an issue in LS and Blaine. As a proud resident of Blaine County, I can vouch for the harmony and well-meaning of the residents who have to rely on these vehicles on top of 4x4 trucks. Note; this isn't for recreational use, it's because the roads/routes in the county are beaten all over. We have to get to work, to a friend's home, to go out and have some sense of liberty, which is a key word here I. American I believe? If it's a case that we can still use these vehicles on the dirt, them that is at least something. But this just seems wrong, this won't stop people from driving vehicles at high speeds, parking terribly or plotting ill will on others; THAT is down to the individual. Godspeed everyone.
  17. Curious. Has anyone ever tried, in any shape or form, using a city bus for their RP? The obvious is as a bus driver but of course there is no solid public transportation RP other than taxis or limos.
  18. Username: Brooklynn99 Comment: I can usually take these things as a bit of harmless fun, a way to stretch the brain's imagination for some fun fiction space. That being said... Last night, I left my motel room to take a ride and watch the moon light on the Alamo water surface. Just after getting out the door, I saw a guy on the ground a few feet away from me. Called the police and had a look over him. Not only was he dead, but there were no signs of physical violence. The coroner arrives and I overhear that it "may" have been an OD. I'm not a cast member of CSI, but there were no needles, powder marks, foaming of the mouth. On top of that; when I got home from a friend's, I wasn't in my motel room longer than 5 minutes with no radio or TV on. I changed right by the window pane with a thin worn curtain. I didn't hear anything outside. I just think, if it were even an OD, would the guy have made it from a motel room to the parking lot in that state? It couldn't have happened in the lot because it was deserted when I parked up. They say this "Bagman" is an assaulter/cannibal, but speculation in myth is a grain of salt. If this being is as supernatural as they say, then who is to say that it only leaves battered and bloody traces in it's wake? What if "it" could kill without even touching you? I just think back to the body of that man, laying there almost peacefully like a puppet that had it's strings cut. Maybe I'm just in delayed shock, at least I'd like to think so.
