  2. S/S 30 LRC southside 30 Lowe Ryder Crips is a street gang founded in the late 1980s in and around the Ray Lowenstein Boulevard in the Davis area. In the midst of racial tensions and increased inflation, childhood friends and relatives looked to one another and formed a collective capable of providing for everyone. Los Santos in the 1980s experienced double-digit inflation and rising unemployment. The suburbs of Los Santos were impacted by no less, leading to an increase in crime and segregation. It was not long before the neighborhood communities once peaceful and prosperous started to turn sour, like a batch of vine left unattended. Politicians chose the rigid approach and fought fire with fire, increasing the alienation and creating societal ruptures still alive today. Many good men were forced into a lifestyle of crime, not only for material gains and sustainability but also as a means of protection. The idea of security in numbers and a sense of familial bonding served as role models and guiding principles for the young and vulnerable. Ray Lowenstein Boulevard had been a middle-class neighborhood, sporting semi-luxurious homes for the working class. African-Americans had seen an increase in household wealth and many from the older generation had found a way out of poverty. During the late seventies, most households had stable jobs and incomes, crime rates were at an all-time low, and the community was prospering. At the beginning of the eighties, inflation hit the west coast, causing havoc in the financial market and sending house mortgages through the roof. Without financial support from the government, the community went from thriving to surviving, causing the local powers that be to turn to other means. What once was a place for neighborhood cookouts, football matches, and self-organized daycare facilities. Had become intermingled with drug-dealing, gangbanging, and other various forms of criminal activity. Slowly but steadily the neighborhood deteriorated, seeing an increase in drug and alcohol abuse. Police brutality was once again something people talked about openly. It turned out that old habits die hard, which was obvious to anybody living in Davis during the 60s and 70s. Gabriel Dominguez High School, situated in Davis, was a breeding ground for gang activity. There, teenagers from all around the neighborhoods shared spaces and conflicts occurred daily. . On Roy Lowenstein Boulevard, the situation was no different. In the year 1982, four childhood friends formed the Southside 30's Low Ryderz, giving homage to the now-derelict mechanic workshop that operated on the corner of Ray Lowenstein Blvd and Carson Avenue. The founding members were Raymond Cook, and Tyrell Aldridge both of whom were direct neighbors. Trevon Williams lived a stone's throw further up the street in a well-kept house together with his grandmother and cousin Hakeem Brooks. All four boys were in the same sage. They had grown up together playing in the backyards of Roy Lowe and were practically family. Membership numbers grew and soon most of the Lil homies were initiated and put to work for the set. The influx of material gains and respect among fellow peers increased and fed the egos of the ones involved, culminating in several turf wars with surrounding Blood sets. The feuds were naturally noticed by the gang detectives from the Operation Safe Street Bureau, situated a few hundred meters north of the block, leading to the subsequent arrest and conviction of most of the leading figures within the gang. Only a handful of O.G's remained, choosing a more delinquent way of presenting themselves, using the moonlight as cover for their operations. The Lowe Ryderz continued to operate throughout the 1990s and early 2000s with only a handful of active members holding it down for the neighborhood. In the spring of 2004, the gang was met with yet another purge from law enforcement. As a result, most of the remaining leaders wound up in the Twin Towers Correctional Facility on long sentences. This was undoubtedly a serious blow to the Lowe Ryders whose future now was in peril. Following the purge of 2004 - Xavier Aldridge, the son of one of the founding members and by now a known figure around the neighborhood came to the realization that if the Ryders were to continue, he needed to take matters into his own hands. Together with his younger cousin Marlon Robinson originally from Chamberlain Hills, the two went to great lengths to emulate what they perceived as the "glory days" of the 1980s. Things started to improve. But little did they know their lives would soon take a turn for the worse. On a Tuesday night in May of 2008, the two were sitting in Xavier's grandmother's garage drinking and playing Tony Hawk on their stolen Playstation 2. Once they had gotten their drink they quickly fell into boredom and started to discuss the many plans and desires they had. By accident, they came to remind themselves of a house in Rancho that they had scouted out a couple of nights prior. Following a brief conversation, and some more alcohol the two made the fateful decision to leave the garage, jumped onto their BMXs, and started to pedal in the direction of Rancho. When they rolled up on the poorly-lit street on which the house stood, both stopped and listened for a moment. Everything seemed calm. Not a soul in sight except for some music Dunkin out from one of the nearby projects. They were both dressed in dark hoodies to blend into the night. Xavier was wearing an old ski mask that he had found in his grandmother's garage. He suspected that it had once belonged to his father. Marlon wore a dark blue bandana that covered his nose and mouth. Both of them carried a switchblade knife each. They silently approached the house and went into the neighboring garden and vaulted the dividing fence between the two houses. They made their way across the lawn towards the back door of the house and after much toil, they managed to force the door open using a crowbar. The back door took them right into the kitchen of the single-floored house. Once the two had stepped into the pitch-dark kitchen and closed the door behind them, it all happened in the blink of an eye. A dark figure in the shape of a man came running from the adjacent room and tackled Marlon to the floor, shouting. Xavier did not hesitate and immediately pulled his knife. He extended the blade and lunged at the man and trice drive the knife into his back rendering him to let off a scream in panic and agony. Xavier's intervention made it possible for Marlon to push the man of himself and with the help of his friend they both ran out the back door. though leaving the blood-stained knife on the kitchen floor. As they made it out back onto the street, they jumped onto their bikes and rushed up the street back towards Roy Lowe Avenue, completely unaware that Marlon's black hoodie was littered with blood from the stabbed man that had come onto him whilst pinned on the floor. A couple of streets from Roy Lowe they were stopped by one Sheriff cruiser and a K9 SUV. Both were taken into custody due to them being minors and the fact that they were biking in the area covered in blood at two o'clock in the morning. Later that night, the Sheriff's Office learned of the house robbery and the stabbing. They subsequently charged Xavier and Marlon for the break-in and attempted manslaughter. As a result, the two spent a good portion of their teenage years in juvenile detention. In juvie, they grew close with a teenager named KayVon Lebron, originally from Liberty City. KayVon was a hot-tempered womanizer who was doing time for pimping and pandering and cocaine possession. Upon release, the trio returned to Roy Lowe and moved in into Xavier's grandmother's house. They were back and had one goal. To get back into the game and do it right this time. No slippin'. With blessings and advice from the Lowe OGs locked up in TTCF, the three began the hard work to re-establish themselves in the ever-changing gangland environment that is southern Los Santos.
