Simply put it should be equally to one OOC day to one IC day, however, if this was done, the time which helps your character develop will be simply long and you wouldn't be able to move on quickly and efficiently whilst roleplaying all of it. Now, I'm not saying it always should be quick and efficient, but certain people don't like to roleplay a certain event and its consequences for a stretched amount of time, they prefer if things were just sped up in the span of a couple of days, maybe weeks which I totally agree as people have IRL stuff to do and don't have the time to spend so much focus in-game, which will simply just burn them out and they will stop playing. At the end of the day, it's up to preference and how you wish to roleplay and develop your character. There are no restrictions on it (as long as you keep it real obviously) and as long as you enjoy, you should do it the way that suits you.
