  1. Senate Democrat Dwight Burris associates mass shootings with open carry of firearm On January 29ᵗʰ, 2020, Senate Democrat Gabriella Morales proposed the "new" SHAFT act for a full Senate debate. Senate Democrat Morales' version of the SHAFT act appears nearly identical to the current SHAFT act. Senate Republican Ethan Schmidt proposed to legalize open carry to all areas outside any city limits in San Andreas. Senate Republican Daniel Cardenas further supported the legalization of open carry. Senate Republican Cardenas outlined numerous errors in the bill. He pointed out that "paint" isn't a proper attachment for a firearm, as written by Senate Democrat Morales. Here is another error he pointed out in the bill. Cardenas' Quote What was the most disturbing is Senate Democrat Dwight Burris' statement made in the Senate discussion. Senate Democrat Burris believes that open carry would increase the number of mass shootings in San Andreas. He further used the mass shootings taking place in Texas as an example by blaming the shootings on open carry. Burris' Quote Senate Democrat Burris intentionally involved mass shootings with open carry of a firearm, attempting to sway the direction of the discussion away from the issue at hand. Additionally, Senate Democrat Burris suggested that citizens must move to Texas if they wish to open carry. Reference: • SHAFT Bill © San Andreas Politics 2021
  2. Republicans introduce marijuana reform bill On January 27ᵗʰ, 2020, Senate Republican Ethan Schmidt from Blaine County District introduced marijuana reform bill, "Cannabis Legalization Act of 2021". "A bill to establish control protocols and regulatory process for the introduction of medicinal use and adult-use/recreational cannabis in San Andreas." introduced by Senate Republican Ethan Schmidt with two corresponders of Senators Frank Ernst & Daniel Cardena. The purpose is to legalize marijuana for recreational and medical uses with the possibility of permitting legal marijuana distribution. Sections from part of the bill For a quick recap of the entire bill, using Cannabis for recreation purpose would be lawful under certain circumstances as well as Distribution of Marijuana. However, there needs to be regulation. The Board of Cannabis Control (BCC) has been established as an agency to regulate commercial cannabis licenses for medical and adult-use in San Andreas. The Board of Cannabis Control will reportedly have $210,000 total weekly in budget for the reformation. The Senate Bill, however, is currently awaiting further discussion and votes. 4. Sellouts Democratic senators voted for a Republican President? On January 21ˢᵗ , 2021, the President of the senate, Francis Holland, called for a discussion on the nomination of a new Senate President Pro Tempore. Here are the votes of the six senators from six different districts. • Senate Republican Ethan Schmidt from Blaine County District voted to nominate Senate Republican Frank Ernest from Northern District • Senate Republican Daniel Cardenas from Central District voted to nominate Senate Republican Frank Ernest from Northern District • Senate Democratic Gabriela Morales from Eastern District voted to nominate Senate Republican Frank Ernest from Northern District • Senate Democratic Dwight Burris from Southern District voted to nominate Senate Republican Frank Ernest from Northern District • Senate Democratic Diana Jones from Western District did not vote. Senate President Pro Tempore is the second-highest ranking of the San Andreas State Senate, seconding from the President of Senate. The Lieutenant Governor, Francis Holland holds the rank of President of the senate. However, he doesn't manage the State Senate. Instead, It is the responsibility of Senate President Pro Tempore to run and manage the senate. The Democratic senators, however, suspiciously let the opportunity for their party go. As shown in the vote above, the Democrat's Districts could easily outnumber the Republicans' votes. Oddly, they decided to nominate Republican Senator Frank Ernest for seemingly no logical reason, completely disregarding the ideology of their own party and constituents. What could be the reason? You decide. Reference: • President Pro Tempore Nominations © San Andreas Politics 2021
