  1. I can do $40,000. I can pick it up anytime you're free.
  2. Having grown tired of living out of boxes, Kat decided to look for her own apartment. Still very conscious of the expenses she would need to layout in the future for her business property, she decided to look at the apartments available ot the lower end of her budget. Just walking up to the first apartment complex put Kat on edge. The place was covered in graffiti on the outside and the front door didn't seem to close properly. Taking a walk made her wrinkle up her nose in disgust. Even the walls inside were filled with graffiti and what she could only assume were gang tags. The place smelt disgusting! Have people been relieving themselves in the corners of the corridor? As she continued her search, she found an apartment complex in Little Seoul that she thought might provide a better option. After talking to one of the managers there, she was given a tour of the building. She was shown around and taken into the common room. Her first impression of the room was distaste, that was until she saw a cat sat on a couch. Talking to the manager, Kat found that the building had a few half-feral cats living there. It had all started when someone's pet cat gave birth to a litter of kittens and it quickly spiralled out of control. Kat bent down to fuss the cat and instantly fell in love with the place. Coming back out onto the clean landing and looking down into the mostly clean lobby, Kat decided that she could really see herself living there. She smiled to herself as she walked back down the stairs, before thanking the manager. Now all she needs to do is wait for the call.
  3. As Kat continued to work as an Independent Courier, she noticed that there were a few strange people ghaning making important contacts, but more importantly, learning from those contacts, where to get the best damn coffee in the city! She heads to ### and buys a cup, requesting an extra pump of vanilla syrup and adding 3 packets of sugar. She sinks onto a couch and after the first sip, sinks even further down into the chair, in coffee heaven. Kat goes back every day over the next week to get a coffee in her travel mug, sometimes with vanilla syrup, sometimes hazelnut. As she was driving up Popular Street, Kat's travel mug slipped from her hand, slipping the still-hot coffee down her leg. She jumps and the hot coffee falls into her lap and swerves across the road before coming to a stop, luckily not hitting anyone. Kat starts to clean herself up as best she can when she spots red and blue lights starting to flash behind her. "Shit!" Kat grumbles under her breath. Officer Petrovic from the Los Santos Police Department arrives at Kat's door, just as she opens it to try and shake the coffee off her pants leg. Apparently, the Officer spotted the loss of control and decided to pull up behind Kat and block the lane, while he found out what the problem was. The Officer was kind enough to offer a roll of kitchen towels and some wet wipes to help Kat out. When the officer asked for Kat's details for his report, she was embarrassed that she had to say she was still living out of cardboard boxes at a model. Kat decided right then and there that she had to look for a new place to live! Kat mentioned that there had been a number of odd people hanging around Terminal and using that as an excuse, some how managed to get the officers phone number. Personal or work number she didn't know, but Officer Petrovic might regret giving that number out in the near future.
  4. After seeing the live music in Rockford Plaza, Kat decided to brush up on her guitar playing, a skill she hadn't used since before leaving home for college. She planned a trip back to the Mall, and bought herself a nice electric guitar, checking that she would be able to plug it into her truck. From that point on, she would spend a couple of hours each evening after work, to practice. The cobwebs would fall off fairly quickly, and although she was unlikely to be plucked out of the crowd by a record label, she played well enough for an amateur, that her music was enjoyed by those who listened to it. Getting back to her Motel room, Kat found a letter from the Bank, denying her mortgage application. She decided that it wouldn't phase her or slow her down, whilst passing the building the next day, she did pull over and publicly vent her considerable frustration towards the bank. She went inside, ranted at the staff, asked for a manager and had a discussion as to why the request was denied. The bank manager agreed to review the situation but noted that it would take a week weeks. With her application being denied and her hopes of a more secure base for her business being delayed, Kat decided the best thing she could do would be to get herself a firearm so that she could defend herself. She collected an application form from the front desk at the Police Administration Building, completed it in the back of her truck, and then mailed it. Each night, after work, she expected to find a reply stuffed under the door of her motel room, and after a week, it finally arrived.
  5. While waiting for a response from the bank, Kat continued to work making new contacts and setting up her business. She took time out from driving and went to Rockford Mall to pick up a new laptop. While at the mall she ran into a Street Performer and stayed for a while and enjoyed the music before dropping a few dollars in he guy's tin. Kat then headed into Digital Den to pick up a Laptop. She discussed her requirements with the clerk and finally decided on a system with plenty of battery life, but limited graphics power, perfect for what she needed to help run her business with long stretches of use from within her truck. She even grabbed herself a converter so she could charge it in truck. She headed back to her hotel room, and set up the computer. Using her phone, she set up a wifi hot-spot and connected her computer, checking it all worked correctly before taking it to her truck and setting up the charging system. Armed with a fully portable system, Kat logged into Facebrowser and made up a new company page for Lone Star Logistics, she repurposed a few of her own Facebroser posts to start the whole thing off, and then started looking for new exciting topics for Lone Star Logistics to post about.
  6. I mean I can put my bid back in for 60k if the other fell through. I can make the transfer on March 13th.
  7. After finishing a contract one night, Kat was hit with a sudden inspiration. It came to her so suddenly and she was so distracted, that she nearly drove straight off the road. She pulled over right away and sketched down the idea for her company name and logo. Lone Star Logistics. Over the next couple of days, Kat refined the idea, came up with a few tag lines that she might use, and then sent them off to be made into business cards. Without having a property set up she had them address to the office of the motel she was staying at, and within in 5 business days, 1000 business cards were delivered. As Kat continued to meet new customers and complete more orders, she inevitably ran into other truck drivers. Some were already working for large logistics companies, while others were working independently like she was. Kat found that the attitude of drivers from the larger companies was always more negative than that of the other independent couriers. They would often chat about what deals they had recently managed to sign and would often ask each other for help to fill orders that were currently too large for them to manage. Kat was quick to hand out her business cards, managing to build a small network of friends and colleagues that would often chip in together to have access to larger contracts. After subscribing to a few of the government websites, Kat found the listing for the property she had been watching for so long. In all that time, she hadn't seen anyone coming or going and with her primitive social and commercial network already in place, she thought she would go to the FLEECA band and apply for a mortgage for the property, putting down a significant down payment with the money she had taken the day she left Texas, coupled with the money she had managed to earn from her courier contracts and deals.
  8. With her truck looking all shiny and new once again, Kat decided that she should really get herself some more suitable and durable clothing to use while making deliveries. She headed further into the city, checking out different stores without seeing anything that caught her. She was about to give, picking up a standard set of cargo pants, when she spotted something much more interesting, tucked at the back of one of the racks. Chuckling to herself, as she paid for the clothing, she thought to herself, "Hell! I'm definitely going to stand out in this! And it pays to advertise." Pleased with her purchase, she headed back to her truck, and posed for a selfie in her new "uniform". Armed with her new look, Kat set out, working her way through the contacts she had managed to organise for herself. As she drives around the city, making her deliveries she learns the streets, finding shortcuts and secluded routes. Using each drop-off to cultivate more contacts, she quickly becomes well known by many of the store owners, who greet her warmly whenever she pulls up to their shops. Over the next couple of weeks, as Kat travels around, she keeps an eye out for somewhere that might work as a secure place to store her truck, and that could one day potentially host her own small independent courier business. A few weeks into her new life, Kat spots a likely-looking property close to her Motel. Appearing to be abandoned and derelict, but with tall fences and a large metal gate, it might be the perfect place for her to set up shop. With its run-down nature and unfavourable location, she hopes that she will be able to negotiate the price down, once she starts the process to try and buy the land. Whether it is while she is between contracts, when she is having her lunch or if she just happens to be passing, Kat keeps an eye on the property, looking for any signs of activity.
  9. After packing up and leaving home, it took Kat three full days of driving to make it all the way back to Los Santos, this time with her truck. Finally, after crossing the bridge, she pulled in to get some gas and grab a bite to eat before heading on to ULSA where she hoped to find one of her old friends who might give her a place to sleep for the night. Kat parked up in the College car park, pulled out her travel bag and walked up to her old sorority house. She rang the doorbell and was greeted by her old sorority mother who happily pulled her inside, gave her a big hug and gave her a place to sleep for the night. In the morning they discussed Kat's plans. Kat explained that she was going to look for a place to stay more permanently and that she would use the truck and work as an independent courier until she could organise something more secure. With another hug and the promise of more help in the future, Kat walked back to her truck, only to find that it had been vandalised by some of the more aggressive environmentally concerned college activists. Although she couldn't believe her luck, Kat continued with her plan. Trying to spend as little of her money as possible, she decided on one of cheaper motels she was able to find. It had private off-the-street parking and was close to some of the busy trucking and courier routes running through the city and she thought it would be a perfect compromise between location, security and cost, even if the building itself was starting to look pretty run down. She paid for a room, then started looking for temporary contracts to fulfil. She spent the day driving between different offices, trying to make connections and offering her services as a private courier, always being careful not to show the slogan painted on the side of her truck. At the end of the day, she headed back to the motel, parked up, and headed inside for a well-deserved shower and a rest. After such a busy day, fell asleep quickly with plans for the future whirling around her head. She slept soundly throughout the night until her phone alarm woke in the morning. She pulled on her clothes, and headed outside with the idea of getting some breakfast, only to nearly trip over an empty spray paint can. Seemingly encouraged by the initial tag on the side of the truck, others had decided to use it as their canvas during the night. Numerous new pieces of graffiti had been added all over the truck. Windows had been damaged, one of the mirrors had been pulled off and the lock had been damaged on the back doors, although no one had been able to actually break in. Furious, Kat decided to find somewhere that would be more secure for her truck, but knowing that doing so might cost a lot of money, she knew she had to get her truck cleaned up and repaired so she could start working on those contracts she had already secured. Kat got herself some breakfast, having to listen to the chuckles of the locals as they laughed at her truck while she was queuing to pay, then she sought out a garage that would be able to repair the damage caused in the night. With the issues on her truck fixed, Kat took drove to a manual car wash and spent most of the day, removing the tags and slogans before taking the time to polish the truck all over.
  10. Katelynn Summers was born on the first leap day of the new millennium, on the 29th of February, 2000 to Raymond and Caroline Summers. By the time Katelynn was born, the family lived on a nice, well-appointed Ranch just outside Huntington, Texas, but they hadn't always been so well off. Raymond had taken over a small Logistics Company from his father, and along with his brother, had slowly built it into one of the largest transportation companies in the region. Katelynn knew little of the difficult early years when her father was building up the business, and as a child, she cared little for the adult talk about the state of the company. Katelynn's early years were filled with all the activities you would expect a rich rural child to take part in. Being the only daughter in the family and also being the youngest child, her mother doted on her, lavishing her with gifts and presents. Katelynn had a series of ponies growing up and she learned to ride early. With four older brothers, Katelynn was also keen to get involved in their rough and tumble, to her mother's constant annoyance. As she grew up, she could often be found swimming in the lake, shooting with bows and hunting rifles and sneaking off with one or other of her brother's dirt bikes. With Katelynn becoming more and more Tom-boyish in her mother's eyes, Caroline managed to convince Raymond to send Katelynn to a posh private boarding school. Initially, Katelynn rebelled at the sudden loss of freedom and privilege at her new school, but after a few early and harsh punishments, she soon learned how to manipulate those around her, quickly appearing to be a model reformed student to the teachers, while ruling over the other girls in her dormitory through coercion, gossip and emotional bullying. Although manipulative, Katelynn was intelligent and found study easy. She graduated from the school as one of the top students and having been primed, she had the opportunity to apply to nearly any College in the county. With all the glitz and glamour shown in TV and film, Katelynn set her heart on moving to San Andreas and going to college in Los Santos. With Katelynn now appearing to be such an intelligent and refined young lady, her mother backed her wishes but her father would only would only agree to pay if Katelynn agreed to study a topic that he felt was useful. So it was that Katelynn enrolled in ULSA majoring in Business and Economics with a minor in Performing Arts. Katelynn was surprised by how much she enjoyed her major, after all, a lot of the theory around business seemed to be based on the art of manipulating others. Whether it was getting people to work harder for you, appearing not to be a threat to other, larger companies or intimidating smaller businesses into backing down, the topic was something that Katelynn connected with. Her friends in her Performing Arts class quickly started calling Katelynn, "Kat" and the name stuck for the whole of her college career. During her time at college, Kat developed her own business models and studied hard, again she graduated as one of the top in her class. She returned home and in her mind, she was ready to take over the family business, her father however, had other plans for her. Raymond wasn't interested in Kat's new ideas and business models, expecting that, now she was back from her big adventure in San Andreas, she would marry, settle down, and start having grandchildren, an attitude that Caroline only encouraged. On Kat's 21st birthday along with all the other gifts you would expect her to receive, her father also brought her a new truck as part of an ongoing family tradition. Where her brothers had been gifted high-end but practical trucks to start them up in the family business, Kat was given the same high-end truck, only customised in the most impractical way. Bright Pink with a large sound system installed and the licence plate reading "KITY KAT". It was a joke truck and again Kat felt pushed aside by her father. For two years Kat tried to convince first her father and then her brothers, to follow her new business model. She felt that their company was becoming too large and too unwieldy, and wouldn't be able to adapt quickly enough to a changing market. Rather than hiring a dedicated team, Kat proposed licensing independent couriers and truckers to complete contracts that were managed by a central business hub. With no actual salaried workers, and no physical fleet, Kat believed that the business could quickly change and shift in line with the market, but her father wouldn't listen, and her brothers didn't want to add to the family tension by backing her. During a family argument, more heated than usual, Raymond finally crossed the line when he gave Kat the rather old-fashioned ultimatum of either finding a husband or leaving his house. Kat left that night, clearing out every bank account she could get access to and putting all of her belongings that she could carry in the back of her impractical pink truck.
  11. This thread shows the character development of Katelynn Summers and her company, "Lone Star Logistics", which is based on the concept of independent truckers and couriers working together,
