  1. Most people PK/CK out of these situations because prison RP in its current iteration is straight up just not fun or enjoyable in almost any aspect to the average person, depending on the time of day you're either in there completely alone or surrounded by people who enjoy playing hardcore racists. Not only that but in my experience and many others experience, LEO players have a big tendency to attempt to PG/MG situations in order to make an arrest especially when they're surrounded by all their cop buddies who will back them up if need be. More often than not if people actually do get sent to prison they just play alternate characters whilst waiting for their release anyway, so what's the point really? Until prison RP is reworked and actually has any kind of population this is just a bad suggestion. There has to be punishments for actions sure, but it's also a game and pacing around in an empty room alone for a week or more is boring, no one wants to do that. Until a better solution is found, getting PK'd is a punishment on its own considering you lose all material assets you had on you.
  2. Official factions shouldn't be immune to conflict though? Becoming official shouldn't be some almighty thing that lets you sit around and do nothing and just hold power, if an unofficial faction is causing you trouble you should be able to handle your ground against them ICly as official. No point in having OOC restrictions to people forming groups IMO.
  3. +1 to this, heavy support this idea but needs to be implemented in a way where it can't be abused.
  4. Basically, all of this above. Being able to sell your house for profit should be allowed of course as it's not like it's something that doesn't happen IRL. But there definitely needs to be some moderation on this, especially removing the sell at any price after 6+ months thing. Having a hard OOC cap on the multiplier you can sell your house at would benefit everyone I think, as much as the server strives to provide realism we have to deal with the fact that we're limited in spacing and available housing on the map here. As others have said, the fact that you can sell at any price after 6 months really just encourages people to hold on to the property until that point so they can sell at the highest profit possible, because why would you not? This is why we're ending up with million dollar homes in places like Davis where homes would be realistically going for.. not even close to that. 6 months is a long time for someone to be holding on to a property that they only intend on flipping and let's be honest, it's not uncommon.
  5. I feel like this issue should be something that's handled ICly by the LEO, if someone was messing around with the vehicles. A lawnmower and caddy are very easily purchased vehicles IRL. You can get one at pretty much any hardware store, there's no reason why anyone shouldn't be allowed to just buy it.
  6. Agreed, this rule essentially gets broken non stop all day long and shouldn't even be a rule in the first place. Quite strange to see someone get singled out for it.
  7. This is pretty much the best way to handle this in my opinion. The majority should be added with little to no restriction at all for any one to purchase if they have the money for it, with the select few having conditions such as the ones you listed being the only ones locked behind a leasing like exotic cars etc. that would realistically be produced in little amounts and owned by few.
  8. This is already a rule, albeit somewhat loosely enforced on PM's part. Under section 1.5 - Property Owning: Consider how realistic it is for your character to live in certain areas. We want to promote neighborhood roleplay. The following are examples of poor portrayal, and if you do not have appropriate development or reason to live in a specific area, then you may become subject to losing your property
  9. Unless you lack it being the key phrase here, because without it you can't really do much. So, in my humble opinion realistically speaking you shouldn't even be RPing a rich person unless you've got an amount of script money to back up that type of RP. Becoming rich doesn't just happen to people overnight in majority of cases, it's something you have to work for and takes time usually months or years of effort unless you get insanely lucky or on the chance of being born into old money. Being able to just show up and say "hey guys I'm rich, give me handouts to accurately portray this" completely invalidates all of the work anybody has already previously been putting in achieving what belongs to them. What's stopping anyone from just skipping over the part where you actually have to RP and interact with the community to get by from doing that? If anyone can just show up and be given things without having to put in any real work for it then what's the point of seeking a high paying career or striving for goals such as owning a business ICly? The reward for these kinds of things become non-existent if we just start giving things out for free just because they have some nice writing skills and can make up a real good story. A lot of businesses already struggle keeping employees any longer than a week just because people either work until they can afford what they're looking for and dip or just don't have much use for the script money so there's little motivation. It's unfortunate it is this way, but that's the reality of it right now. Let's not make this situation even worse by setting a precedent of being able to get free shit without putting the time in to earn it. Like I said before, script money isn't the end all be all determining factor of a characters wealth, but pretending that you're rich when you haven't put any of the actual work in to get there is just bad, unrealistic character portrayal IMO. The average person isn't going to be able to afford a several million dollar super car. If there's only 5-10 super cars on the street ever then so be it. They shouldn't be easy to obtain by principle, it's a literal super car. How often do you see super cars just strolling by in real life? Almost never, and the people that own them are usually business owners or executives or something along those lines. Jobs that ICly shouldn't have any issue getting to that amount of if they really wanted to.
  10. Super cars should be uncommon enough especially with such a high script $$$ barrier that surely anyone owning one, staff would be able to keep an eye on? Surely there's a way for y'all to see on your end if someone owns a super high value asset like a super car but no property or business etc. and that would raise red flags on unrealistic character development.
  11. So.. the people that would realistically be making salaries high enough to afford such vehicles in the first place, you mean? Sorry I don't mean to seem rude but barring the professions you just listed, really the only other people that would be able to afford assets like super cars would be famous people or people in professions like doctors, lawyers etc. anyway. You're right that script money isn't the end all be all for determining a characters value but it's still a good rough indicator of their contribution to the economy of the server both ICly and OOCly. If someone is broke scriptly but claiming to be rich, are they really? I mean I guess you could pose to be and pretend for the sake of building a story, but without cash to spend what type of RP could a "rich" person be doing? Having a script cash barrier to purchasing these types of vehicles ensures that the people getting their hands on them are people that are actively roleplaying and contributing to the server in one way or another, instead of just sitting around making OOC applications getting hand outs based on some story they pulled out of their ass 30 seconds ago that never actually happened IC.
