  1. Greek immigration into the United States began in 1880, with the largest immigration numbers during the early twentieth century. Greek immigration has spread out from coast-to-coast in the United States, however, originated on the east coast. Between 1900 and 1920, Greek immigration to the US topped numbers of 350,000. Communities such as “Greek Town” in Baltimore, Maryland were formed. Areas like Astoria, New York, also claimed the tag of “Greek Town”. Astoria is known to have one of the biggest Greek populations in the United States. One of the more notorious communities is set up in the upper west side of Del Perro in Los Santos, San Andreas. Containing several housing complexes along Del Perro Boulevard, this small, close community has gained notoriety due to the amount of criminals it has produced, ranging from mobsters to drug dealers. The area is no stranger to crime, recently being the location of several major shootings and arrests. Just a few weeks ago, a known loan shark in the area, Thomas “Nosey” Diakos, was gunned down by two masked individuals while walking out of his one bedroom apartment on Prosperity Street. Just like the several other shootings in the area, the Diakos shooting remains unsolved. However, the area doesn’t just produce loan sharks and cocaine dealers — the area has been home to several small crews, who usually are formed by males in their early to mid twenties. The objective of these crews is to make as much money as fast as possible in the shortest amount of time. These crews usually consist of about three to seven members, however, they can grow over time depending on how successful they are. One of the more famous crews in the area that law enforcement has been looking at is a crew based on Bay City Avenue. Although members of the crew don’t specifically live on Bay City Avenue, they live on Del Perro Boulevard and frequent the street as sort of a hangout. Due to this, law enforcement has named the crew “The Bay City Avenue Crew”. The crew has gained a reputation with police due to the amount of violent and major crimes they have committed. A few of their members are responsible for bank robberies, burglaries, extortion, and murder. One of their more influential members, Peter “Pete the Parrot” Keleptros was recently found guilty for the murder of Greek-American cocaine dealer, Louis Hasapis. Kelpetros was also convicted of three counts of felony bank robbery. He is believed to have connections to a few major Greek-American criminals, and is believed to have murdered Louis due to an outstanding debt with one of these criminals. He is currently serving forty years to life within Bolingbroke prison. Peter Keleptros (left) circa April 2020. When interviewed by journalist Dale Henson for the Los Santos tribune, Keleptros had the following to say: Henson: "So, Pete. I know you n your friends treat each other like you’re brothers. Can you expand on that?" Keleptros: "Well uh, I grew up with these guys, you know? I mean, we’ve done everything together. I know their sisters, their parents, their uncles. I mean it got to a point where you know — we did certain things together where they aren’t just my close friends anymore." Henson: "Would you ever consider becoming an informant and uh, "rat" on your friends?" Keleptros: “Not in a million years. They’re my brothers. I’m not gonna rat on them because I know they're not gonna rat on me. If we betray each other, we betray our family. We are our family.” Henson: "You’ve committed a few major crimes including murder. Why is that?" Keleptros: "I mean, I was robbing banks when I was seventeen, you know? I did the things I did, because I personally didn’t have any other choice." Henson: "Why'd you guys come together and form this crew?" Keleptros: "You know — we grew up in the fuckin wild west. The only thing we had was each other. We wanted to be united. If you hurt my brother, you hurt me. And if you hurt me, I kill you. Simple as that." After the arrest of Keleptros, the group's connections disappeared. Police believe the group is attempting to recoup after the arrest, and is currently laying low. The group still actively hang out on Bay City Ave, however, police still suspect they are committing small-time crimes. Sooner than later, police say this group will pop up again, and when they do, they’ll be ready. Local detective James Hardwood with the twentieth precinct in the Del Perro area had this to say about the group's structure and activities: "Well, the structure of the group is simple. It's simple because there isn’t one. There’s no leader, no higher ups. Nothing like that. It's simply based around crime and influence. The group is small and close knit, we haven’t seen any new members for a while. Recently, they’ve begun to lie low it seems. Of course, they are still committing crimes, however, we haven’t seen anything major for a while after Mr. Keleptros’ arrest. The group's activities may not be clear at this time, however, one thing definitely is — this group is dangerous and lethal."
