  1. In my eyes, the ideal scenario would be a FLD portal hosted, developed and maintained by GTA world rather than by a player. This makes it much more reliable and not prone to the player losing interest and basically abandoning the website. The entire process would have to be redefined and automated mostly. Say the FLD website could be integrated with GTA world’s database, licenses could literally be 99% automated as all the standard checks could be performed automatically using information from that database. All that would have to be (potentially) manually checked is criminal record and administrative record, and even that could be displayed right there for the handling officer to quickly approve or deny within a second. For GC, CCW and renewals the justification would also need to be checked, but if all the basic checks are handled automatically then this is done within a minute. This would also leave very little room for player error (entering wrong age etc.) again drastically lowering handling time. This would also solve the understaffing issue as applications would take drastically less time to review and thus we wouldn’t need as much staff to handle the workload. Then again, this is all in an ideal world… we would need to find people to rethink the procedures, develop the portal and Nervous would probably have to sign off on using GTA world web developers etc.
  2. Allow me to bring up some points: It's hard to find people for FLD. It's fun in the beginning but becomes a drag very quickly as it's a purely administrative job with no reward, a very high workload and a lot of repetition. People tend to leave very quickly or become inactive after a few months. The only things keeping us going are the few people who keep their interest for FLD for a very long time (mvp's) and the regular influx of probationary officers who we can convince to join FLD for a few months until they get tired of it. It's a problem that's always been there and probably always will be... The above applies too for people in higher positions which also affects for example, the rewriting of the CCW exam. We've been meaning to do it for a long time, but it's summer which means most of us are out having a good time, are busy or otherwise. Revising the exam is a task that would take quite a bit of time to do properly and nobody really feels like it when they just got home from work or are about to head out for a good time in this weather. And since it's hard to find people for FLD, it's also hard to regularly cycle the supervisory team within FLD. The argument that "PF abuse is already super high" and that we should relax our application process for that reason is bullshit. At that point you might as well just remove the entire system and allow everyone to /getgun. The last you want to do is allow the abuse to rise up even higher than it already is. Lastly, the FLD website being down is a huge issue, yeah. But the website is hosted by Skent who has given up on PD and GTA World all together long ago (his last post on the LSPD forums was literally almost a year ago) but there's literally nobody else that's willing to develop a website and maintain it outside of maybe GTA:W's own web developers but they have a high workload too. (Absolutely no blame to Skent btw, I know he's busy IRL and all) I literally cannot agree more that the entire process behind firearm licenses needs a HUGE refactor but unfortunately there's just not many people that are willing to spend time doing that... a proper system would have to be thought out from scratch, a new portal developed and people found to maintain it. EDIT: I'd like to note that there are people within FLD who are spending crazy amounts of their own time handling applications et cetera who I can't thank enough. Let's not forget them.
  3. Some US constitution amendments, federal laws, SCOTUS rulings etc. don't apply on this server because fact is that the environment on GTA:W is significantly different from real life. If we were to abolish the requirement for good cause then everybody and their mothers could get a CCW extremely easily for no reason whatsoever, which would contribute to the extreme gun problem this server is facing. There have been discussions about this before and the day that this changes is the day people will make a suggestion demanding to reinstate good cause because they keep getting shot or robbed at gunpoint at every turn they make since people can carry guns with no consequences or fear of getting caught. 4. how do you expect change to happen if you literally don't know who's doing what you say they're doing and can't report them? you seriously expected people to read this thread and think "omg so inspirational im gonna change my ways at once"?
  5. then what do you expect to happen?
  6. then propose a proper solution
  7. you're the one saying reporting IC'ly won't work... just trying to follow your mindset here
  8. this... if there are so many encounters as you say, take the time to record every single one of them, put them into a video and make LEO factions look bad
  9. 1) every LEO RP'er is already expected to do so, hence it is a problem that cannot be solved via this topic as it will have to target specific players, and those who don't RP LEO properly won't give a rat's ass about yet another topic on the forums 2) people will choose IC'ly who to report and who not to, you can't change people's IC mentality with an OOC topic 3) subpar RP'ers already get yeeted. people who aren't yeeted probably aren't as subpar as you think also stop comparing LEO to illegal RP, if LEO's were to start RP'ing up to the standard a lot of illegal factions seem to uphold...
  10. i haven't read the initial post up until now so let me address some things here "Recently I've noticed that LEO RPers have been given a blanket excuse to stop any vehicle for not stopping at each and every intersection in the game." can only be done if you broke the law unlawful stop? IA/courts "I refuse to believe that every cop has the required corruption perms" you don't need corruption perms for something as trivial as a traffic infraction "They also only acknowledge this law when it comes time to stop an illegal RPer" cops IRL do it all the time: break laws themselves but enforce them anyway "Cops will come straight at you and then turn off a few seconds before impact to grab your plate information" It does indeed happen yes "These things all become impactful when it's every cop in the city doing it" pay your insurance and have a license and we won't have a reason to stop you + only traffic has ALPR
  11. then propose a solution to the problem
  12. there's literally nothing we can do with this topic... cops are already expected to properly RP and follow laws and ... the only way to combat things like these is by identifying the individual cops and them being reported and if they did infact do something wrong they'll get dealt with if you can't do that, well... tough luck. this topic will get locked in no more than 24 hours probably.
  13. 1) not everyone is SWAT in this topic 2) what do you expect from a topic like this? for it to be taken seriously?
  14. literally nothing will change from this topic and it'll just turn into a shitfest like it always does both of these videos are old as hell for one and for the second video, the cops got punished by admins
  15. Commendations & Complaints Desk - Los Santos Police Department (gta.world) Player Reports - GTA World Forums - GTA V Heavy Roleplay Server San Andreas Courts - GTA World Forums - GTA V Heavy Roleplay Server have at it
  16. because it's not commonly known
