LOS SANTOS CITY GOVERNMENT PRESS RELEASE Los Santos Celebrates International Women's Day: Advanding Gender Equality and Empowering Women - AS PREPARED FOR PUBLICATION - Los Santos, SA ~ Thursday, March 8th, 2023 The City of Los Santos joins the world in the celebration of International Women's Day, a global observance dedicated to advancing gender equality and eradicating all inequities between women and men which are based solely on the fact of their gender. This year's theme, "#EmbraceEquity" highlights that the need to create a more just and equitable world my addressing the systemic barriers that hinder women's progress. As we celebrate the social, cultural and political achievements of women, we also recognize the challenges they face and commit to creating a more supportive and empowering enviroment for all women. The City of Los Santos with all of its Departments is committed to promoting gender equality, ensuring women's rights, and addressing every stereotypical hurdle that can still be encountered in our society. Under the leadership of Mayor Marcus Cambridge, the City of Los Santos has taken several steps to advance gender equality, including implementing gender-responsive budgeting, supporting women's entrepreneurship and leadership, and enhancing access to healthcare and education for women. This administration is also proud to announce that the majority of management positions within the city administration are currently held by women. Of particular note is City Operations Officer B. Russo, who is the first woman to hold this role in the city's history. On this International Women's Day, let us embrace equity and renew our commitment to empowering women and creating a more just and equitable world for all.
