  14. WHAT I DRIVE: GROTTI CARBONIZZARE By: Berta K. Torres A quick review to my past vehicles, my current ride, and my causes for loving to drive it. I’ve been thinking for many time to dedicate a vehicle review to my own car. But certainly, and since I have arrived in the city not much time ago, I never had the chance to own a really nice vehicle which can deserve an interesting review. Let me tell you a bit of my story. As possibly most of us, I arrived to Los Santos in a plane, and with just few dollars on my pocket. Nothing enough to purchase a car. Not even for a mopped. I started working to gain my first salaries and after a few I could start owning vehicles. My first car in the town was an Weeny Issy, which I still keep to be honest since it’s a cheap car to maintain. Honestly is possibly one of the biggest craps that I have ever driven. But it did its job pretty well: driving from A to B, without a huge consumption, comfortable and small, so you can park it anywhere. Soon I could afford a better car, luckily. This time, the election was to purchase a brand new blue Alpha. An elegant car which I had customized to make it a bit more mine, but at the same time capable of giving you great experiences when driving it in a sporty way. The stability is not the best, honestly it was so easy to drift the car, and to lose the tail in braking, cornering and speeding-up, and I blame the soft suspension: too much focused on achieving a comfortable driving rather than ensuring a good dynamic performance. The engine wasn’t either, since having more than 300 break-horsepower wasn’t enough to move a car which weight is around the two tones at its maximum speed; but the designers of that car achieved a great equilibrium between practicality (let’s not forget this is mainly a car to be driven in a daily basis), beauty and sportiveness. Trust me, I was in love of my Alpha. But soon I realize that I should get another car. I was missing that sensation of pushing the pedal to the metal and get sucked by the seat. That sensation of taking a corner at an insane speed and see the car not even sliding a bit. All those were the reasons for me to get a new car. My first sports car. And the choice was this: Grotti Carbonizzare. Honestly speaking, I was looking for a car that could give me great sensations at the steering wheel but at the same time being as much practical as possible to be able to drive it in a regular basis. A car that wouldn’t make everyone move his head towards it but which would give you enough portions of speed. That was the main reason I’ve chosen this car. It can be driven in a daily basis without many problems. With the car covered (this is a convertible car) you have plenty of space in the trunk. The driving post, despite being sporty is comfortable enough, and the fuel consumption, despite being high, is not dramatic for a car that has a V8 bi-turbo engine that gives 450 break-horsepower and can reach up to 130 miles per hour. The suspension, which can be regulated, is not extremely hard when is set to comfort, so will not destroy your back when driving on a bumpy street. However, let’s not forget that this is a sports car. If you look for comfort, buy a SUV or a Sedan. The car is not the easiest to access. Is not the one which has the greatest visibility, the driving post is low, and the car is wide. It has a high fuel consumption, so is not made for a long journey across a highway. Indeed, is a sport car. You can use it in a daily basis? Also yes. But is a sport car, after all. The good point of driving a sports car is that, as soon as you reach a curvy road, all that facts that concern comfort and practicality blow away. Is there when only the dynamic performance and the engine counts. And in this environment, when comfort doesn’t counts is when the car proofs that is worth all the money it costs. Let’s first start speaking about the engine. It has an European V8. The current european engineering trends make the car engines be smaller in capacity, especially compared with the American ones: this vehicle comes with a 3.6 liter engine, bi-turbo, capable of developing 450 break-horsepower at just 5.000 rpm, which is great since most of those cars develop it’s maximum power at much higher revs. The power curve is smooth and progressive. Surprisingly for a bi-turbo engine, the power comes in a good amount at low revs. Obviously do not get the car below the 2.000 rpm, or it will basically not respond, even if you go through the floor with the throttle pedal. But it comes strong over 2.500. From that point the power delivery keeps increasing until you reach the maximum power, and it keeps high until you reach the 8.000 rpm, point when it starts decreasing. Not bad at all: almost a flat response in a 3.000 rev threshold. The injection cuts at around 8.500 rpm. All this power is delivered to the rear wheels only by using a double-clutch gearbox that can be operated automatically or with paddles placed behind the wheel which do not spin with it. They are fixed. Great detail, Grotti. I have to say that the car is not the most powerful I have driven. To be honest, I was expecting a bit more of power in a car of this price range. Specially if you compare it with similar cars from other manufacturers, this is clearly a weak point. This does not mean the car will not be fast, or accelerate quick. Depress the throttle pedal, and you will soon realize what I am talking about. But this lack in the power unit, being smaller and somehow less powerful than some of this car’s maximum competitors, is really good compensated with the dynamic performance. The fact of having a smaller engine means it will be also lighter. So the inertias are reduced and that is translated to a great cornering without any understeering. As a good sports car, where you aim with the steering wheel, is where the car nose will aim fractions of seconds later. And is agile at changing direction. Does not mind if you are being aggressive with the steering-wheel. The car will change direction in a very precise way. I can’t say the same of the rear-end unfortunately. The car has a flat floor and a diffusor, as well as a rear spoiler. However, and while those gadgets are great when you are driving in a race track, but when you are in the street… well. Do not get me wrong: the grip on the rear-end is great, always that you do not interrupt the air flow underneath the car and arriving to the diffusor. If nothing happens, you will have tons of grip that will allow you to traction great after a corner without understeering. But what if there is a variation on the steepness of the road, for example? Of a heavy bump. Well, in this case, the air flow will be interrupted. That means the diffusor will not be able to produce downforce, and that great grip I was speaking about will be lost. Suddenly. Meaning that if you are full-throttle when this happens, you will spin. The fact of being a cabrio does not help. The chassis only unites the front and rear ends with the bottom and not using, both the floor and the bottom. So it transmits forces a bit worse than a coupe. But hey, I’ll tell you a secret: this is a sports cars, and all sports cars require experienced drivers. There is none easy to drive, specially at their maximum capacities. That is what makes them exciting. And again, if you are looking for a car that is easy to drive: buy a SUV. This was my election and on my point of view: I made a good choice. Not because it is the most powerful car, because is not. Not because it has the best stability. Neither it is. But the overall compromise is great and as I said before, is a sports car that can be driven in a daily basis. Because of that, I am self-convinced that I've made a great choice. I would also like to know your opinion. Do you think this was a good choice? Let me know your thoughts by leaving a comment. Berta K. Torres

  17. Username: Berta Torres Comment: the expression "Japanese precision" refers to the fact of Japanese manufacturers being the ones most capable to build the most responsive chassis and the best cars to drive on a race track which is not oval. Even more than the European brands. Was meant to be used in a metaphoric way, only. Don't take me wrong: never said this car has anything of Japanese. All the aesthetic line, the engine, etc match completely with the identity of American sports cars. However, this one has some work made on the chassis and the aerodynamics that erases that sensation that, and for the fact of being an American sports car, its going to kill you. If you want one, is a good purchase.
  18. TEST DRIVING: BRAVADO BANSHEE By: Berta K. Torres When the American power meets Japanese precision: who said that American cars cannot be good at cornering and straight lines at the same time? As any motorsport amateurs might now, the eternal dilemma with cars is one: power or grip? Straight line speed or cornering speed? Huge acceleration or huge braking power? And a large etcétera. And some maybe will ask: and why can’t both coexist? Good question. Usually happens that the fact of having a more powerful engine brings with an easiest chance of having wheelspin on the driven wheels; or a higher weight usually onto the front wheels, which can cause oversteering and an uneven weight distribution. And happens something similar when trying to improve the grip of your car: the use of spoilers will add drag, which will make your car be slower. Better aerodynamics may require smaller shapes, which will reduce space for a big huge engine… And we could be like this the whole day. So, given the circumstances, the car manufacturers use to choose one between two options: having a extremely fast car on straight lines and being weaker on the cornering, or be great on accelerating and cornering, but not being able to achieve that high top speeds. The market is full of that kind of examples: A Schafter V12, for instance, a four-door sedan capable of achieving surprisingly high speeds thanks to the huge V12 engine that mounts, but not able to have a single corner without suffering a huge understeering. And then we have the other edge: the Sutan RS, great at cornering, really precise and great acceleration optimization thanks to its perfectly-tuned chassis, great for a quick tour around a curvy road but… honestly a Schafter V12 will kick him hard in a drag-race. Let’s accept it: unless you’re talking about super-sports cars, is impossible to build a powerful but grippy car. Really is it? I was having a walk around Murrieta Heights when I discovered a new second-hand dealer in the corner between Supply Street and Vespucci Boulevard. I decided to approach and have a look at what were they having in stock. They are still growing, so not a lot to choose from. But even though, there were some interesting pieces: some huge off-road cars, for example; a classic Coquette, or the main character of this test drive: a Bravado Banshee. I was very well attended by the owner: George. He was more than happy to cooperate with us for this article. Thank you for it! Yes, I have to say it: personally, I always loved this car’s aesthetics: the long nose to fit a monster V10 engine, the two-seat cockpit and the short rear-end. Low vehicle, as it’s expected on a sports car, wide wheels. And you can easily detach the hard-top, to have a funny roadster to enjoy the summer in Blaine country. And with an engine more than capable to crush yourself against the seat when going at full throttle. But also and honestly speaking, and considering that this is an American creation, I never thought this would be my choice to spend a day on a race track: too much weight in front thanks to that American V10 masterpiece, perfect for understeering… And oversteering at the exit of a corner, due to all that power provided suddenly to the rear shaft. That was the theory. Would it match with the reality? We start the engine and we start our mission to find some curvy roads through which test the beast. I have to recognize that the city driving is more than satisfactory for a car like that: the fuel consumption is not a big issue; despite being high. Nothing out of the normal considering we are speaking about an Atmospheric V10. Also, the long gearbox relation avoids you to having to shift many often and the suspension doesn’t feels really hard, so it results comfortable. It has an acceptable trunk too, so I would say that is a car more than suitable for being driven in a daily basis. Despite the exhaust tail is a bit loud. But again, nothing out of the normal. Finally we do reach a curvy road. The electronics are quite basic so no track or race modes. The car is always ready for some action… so let’s give her what she expects: pedal to the metal now. The first conclusion is obvious: the car is great at accelerating. Greeting to the massive V10 engine that provides 550 BHP. But there’s something that surprises me: despite not having traction control and being a bit aggressive with the throttle pedal, there’s almost any wheelspin. We approach the first corner, and I’m quickly surprised on how responsive and precise the direction is. I was a bit afraid of the speed, so I significantly dropped the speed at the corner entrance. But no signs of understeering. On the next one I try harder, and even though there’s no understeering. Only being very aggressive, it appears. However it can be easily corrected by straightening and steering the wheel again. If you are in the correct gear and entering the corner at the right speed, of course. The corner exit is not an issue if you are gentle with the throttle. Here you will be thinking: “you see? Typical American car problems”. Well, if you do so, big mistake, beloved reader: you are speaking of a car with 550 BHP rear wheel drive and without traction control. Other cars oversteer with just rubbing the throttle pedal. Not in this case. You must be really brute when throttling in order to make the tail to want to overtake you. And in case this happen the car will let you know, as it will slide in equilibrium; so you can correct with a proper counter steer. Indeed, I was wrong: the car is so fast in straight lines but can be also really fast and funny to drive in curvy roads. American power, with a dash of Japanese precision. So, coming to my initial reflection: is still true that big engines compromise grip. And often increasing grip will decrease top speed. However, and leaving super-sports middle-engine cars behind, I do think that today’s test drive was the one closest to the perfect compromise between us. Who said that American manufacturers can build quick cars in both straight and corners? Further Reading
  19. THE TAXI INDUSTRY AND HOW TO GET SCAMMED Ridiculously high fees that can make Taxi become a luxury service Despite getting a taxi has never been the cheapest transport system anywhere in the world, is it true that the city always had a healthy Taxi service offer, composed mainly by self-workers and combined with different Taxi companies which operate in the city since a while ago. I remember my first days in Los Santos. I became actually a taxi driver since is an easy job to start knowing the city and to access too, despite I left it behind really soon. These times were hard to be honest, I was a recently arrived citizen and needed quick money to start with. I wasn't the best on it, as my knowledge of the city streets was not big thing, however it helped me and I'm really thankful to it. So is it that I'm a frequent Taxi user, either for going out at nights or for just getting to the office when I don't feel like driving, which are my biggest reasons, being honest. I always use to give good tips as I remember it was often hard to find out customers. However, huge was my surprise when I recently decided to took a cab. I spent last night sleeping away of home but I was brought by a friend, so I couldn't reach my car. And was mandatory to me to get a taxi. I was attended by a self-employee, which name I won't reveal just for respect. He was so friendly, as usual, and asked me where to with such a polite tone. Nothing out of the normal... until I saw his fare: $75 per time space!!! Simply unbelievable. Obviously I stopped him and stepped out of the vehicle. I was at the other edge of the town so I had to go across the whole Los Santos, a city famous by the traffic jams and the huge amount of traffic-lights that you often find out in red when you approach them. With that amount of money being charged, I estimate that the ride would have costed me around 1500 or 2000 bucks. Easily. And counting that the driver indeed took the most direct route, which doesn't happens very often. I remember my days as a driver. The maximum amount we used to charge was around 20. And that for short rides. The longer the drive was, the lower the fare. Just without doing nor happening anything the taxi fare has been increased more than a 300%. And according to the driver's words, some taxi workers can charge up to 100. Wait a second: 100 bucks??!! Are you talking seriously? I'm not trying to say that being a Taxi driver is an easy job, as I do know it is not. Many hours away of home, working a lot, for usually a poor revenue and really exposed to danger, especially when swinging around rough neighborhoods. However the right of transport is a first need right. Anyone can demand a Taxi for going to work, picking somebody up, reaching the airport, and a large etcetera. It simply doesn't make any sense to ask for a luxury-typical price for a service routinely needed and used. To put you an example, the average cost for an air-lift is somewhere between 3000 and 6000. And that's indeed a luxury service. Seriously somebody is thinking someone will pay the same, or even more, for spending a large amount of time, in a cab, having to suffer the issues of the traffic jams, pollution while an helicopter lift can bring you from Del Perro to Richman in less than one minute? Beloved readers, I don't see the reason. If what my driver said is right, somebody simply drove crazy asking a price for a service that definitely doesn't cost that much. Berta K. Torres LSNN
  20. FRIDAY NIGHT CHRONICLES ROJA · LECAMP · RINA | STARLIGHT, MORNINGWOOD It’s Friday night and Los Santos wakes up. Such as you, as you need to get rid of the week stress, going out with your colleagues. After getting dressed for the occasion, the eternal dilemma of where to go pops up one more. Is normal, as Los Santos nightlife leisure offer is just as massive as the heels your lady is wearing. We made a choice with the music as criteria: one offer was outstanding over all them: Starlight at Morningwood, and three high-end deejays. Starlight, a small two-floor nightclub in the always stylish Morningwood. Easy to park, comfy two-leveled interior with a dancefloor on the main and a nice lounge on the second gave us a more than remarkable first night out. Indeed, they offered an special night offer with three of possibly the best deejays around the state: Roja, our beloved LeCamp and Rina. All them with three different music styles that made the night so special. The night was started with DJ Roja. She gave us a one-hour deejay set in where the present hits took a big presence. Ideal music to start warming up while enjoying some drinks, and hundred per cent danceable. Leonard Campbell, deejay LeCamp, who shared sometime with us, was the next to perfom. This time he left behind the funky house style shown last week and decided to go with underground electronic music, that broke up completely with the previous set. Again one hour of music that made everybody around to move, thanks to his precise style of blending themes and great selection of music. Rina Lee closed the night with another hour set. Her progressive house style selection shown to be the best election to close a great night out. The set was adorned with some house remixes of highly popular songs that went perfect with the environment of the club and the kind of public that assisted to the event. Starlight offered a great three-party event. The public together with the great service provided by both the security and waiters staff and the three different music offers given by the deejays offered a remarkable night during which to stop dance and having fun was the biggest of the issues. /Rent command

Short description: To make the command "/Rent" available for business who can be interested on renting different kinds of vehicles for a certain ammount of time. Detailed description: This is something that is somehow already created for certain things IG, like for example the car rental service or the taxi rental service. My suggestion consists on allowing a business which might be in need of it to rent a vehicle for a determined ammount of time and get a concrete ammount of money for it. Commands to add: I think there's many different ways to do that, but I think that can be something like /rent while behing inside a vehicle.
