  1. It'd be interesting to see a clean/dirty cash system but I don't know how it would work given we don't declare tax, and don't really have receipts for our income - it would need serious script development. I do not really think there are many issues with the economy and I think Nervous + development team deserve credit for making it a closed economy whilst having a right balance on time spent vs. money earned.

    Radio range

Incorporate an app onto the phone that allows you to create group messaging using # numbers. Then allow for messaging through the SMS UI as it is now, or if that is too demanding on server resources, think about adjusting the current /r system so it's considered a phone chat (change how the text appears, if command is used it pulls up the phone animation etc.) - that would work just as well. I think people are being pedantic over the fact "scriptwise" it is a radio. If there was an alternative option, it would be used, but there isn't so you make do. If we adhered completely "if it's not in the script it doesn't exist" mentality GTA RP would have died a long time ago - there needs to be some slack for solutions that obviously exist in real life. I don't think it's criminal to use a radio and RP it as something else given the script limitation. @Inkis right, if /r is being abused then that is an issue with the playerbase which should be dealt with through our current rules i.e. Rule 0.
  3. A lot of forum "IC" VPN comments come from people trying to be funny OOC, the usage of a VPN gives them an excuse to not act like their character would.
  4. I think the issue is GTAW (and most roleplay games) is a microcosm of certain specific characters. For the majority, everyone wants to be, or is, a top gangster, an army veteran, a criminal exiled from their country, a young beautiful person who is also a millionaire and so on which in the first place creates an alpha mentality of your character vs. others. Then you have a setting in which these characters constantly interact through social events i.e. you can have an arrogant college student, a ruthless gang member, and a hardened criminal all within one venue with all three thinking they are better than the other two which leads to quicker esculation. And then you have the fact the majority of people do not like things that inconvenience how they spend their time on the server. If someone is beaten up, it is much more appealing for them to kill them so they can get their revenge and go back to role playing what they want to, forgetting that they were even beaten up in the first place. The alternative is to spend days (or weeks) back and forth developing the situation which for a lot of people is too much of an inconvinience because it's not what they have fun doing and could result in them "losing" resulting in them taking the first option. Bring the two together and what you see is what you get but realistically, it's just the nature of a role playing game - especially one based on GTA. You'd have to shift the attitudes of the majority of the playerbase to see it change - which I think could be done through player example and admin action.
  5. Could not join the server on 1.1, so I hope that is fixed.
  6. Yeah, tried that but still no luck.
  7. Still not able to load the 1.1 server. Only happens with the 1.1 servers. Closes whilst Rockstar Social is doing it's loading screen. Process list below.
  8. I have made the changes to the config.xml, as well as restarted my computer but the game closes. It happens after Rockstar Social Club begins loading and then the Rage Launcher closes whilst the Social Club continues to load, but then that closes too. I connected to a non-1.1 server and it worked. I've put my process list below.
  9. Isn't it already a rule? If it's not realistic, it's against the rules.
  10. You do have a point. The property tax prevents those who cannnot afford the tax to not purchase the extra homes which is what it is there for, and why it should stay. But for those who can afford it they are more likely in the future to not sell those houses unless they are willing to take the loss, leading to properties being hoarded. Fundamentally, the issue is that the only things to buy on this server with your money (of a significant amount) is property and vehicles meaning owning more than one property or vehicle is quite achievable which is why the measures are there in the first place. So, the solutions would be: create/develop new ideas for how people can spend money; allow those approved as landlords to be exempt from the property tax; allow for a full or partial refund of the tax IF the player is selling the property to another player.
  11. That's an issue with the script then if they over earn and is up to management to make the decision to have it adjusted. As far as I'm concerned they earned their money through the IC means available to them. Whether it's realistic or not is a different question, but that's up to management. Because I do not like OOC micromanagement - especially on things like cars for stupid reasons like they are "too fast" or "handle too well". I don't think it is anyone's business to judge someone's role play based upon what car they buy, but getting rid of one car just means they'll buy another car and you'll have the same complaints repeated. If the average player cannot be trusted then there is an issue with the player-base which will not be solved by putting a car behind an OOC application, but by either leading by example and education, or admin punishment.
  12. I do not like the precedent of restricting everything high-end behind an OOC application, plus the more things for people to invest their wealth into the better. If there is 'improper' use (whatever that is) then report them.
  13. You could always petition government/police to make use of their legal powers and implement sanctions (searches for those with visual gang affiliations etc.) on the area to tackle the rising crime and violence . You know, handle it IC'ly as it should be.
  14. Why is there now an out of character script restriction on something that should be completely dictated by players in character?
  15. I hope that server management learn the lesson of not restricting every aspect of the server. LSRP management began implementing rules and regulations against everything that completely stifled any form of creativity, meaning role play just became a stale experience of the same things. Any form of business that provided passive income became state owned because they hated the idea of people not having to do anything for money (argued that it was to help combat inflation, but definitely more effective measures). Weapons and drugs, arguably the most important factor of a GTA game, became so controlled by out of character forces (and terribly at that point - the opposite happened of what they aimed for) that it resulted in people using OOC connections or buying them using real money. Faction management (legal and illegal) was a good concept when first implemented, but became driven by the agendas of people resulting in some pretty stupid decisions being made that killed the playerbase at times. Likewise, faction role play became completely regulated with their being rules about everything a faction could or could not do. Businesses and properties became a mainly forum-based activity, which led to OOC influence and a reliance on admins which itself had issues related to the nature of availability. Basically, I hope management make a conscious effort to not always step in to solve issues that people complain about. Just because people complain about something, does not mean it needs to be an issue fixed by regulations, but rather allow players to explore solutions. Creativity is the most important aspect of a RP game, and regulation can sometimes kill that by forcing people into particular paths, without even realising it.
  16. Not every facet of the server needs to be micromanged by admins. The more restrictive things become, the less role playing opportunities become available.
