  1. Soccer club got turned into mahjong club. Orchestra was disbanded. Budget cuts. There's an amateur barbershop quartet that sometimes gather after-shift. Their latest hit they're working on is titled "Bringing law to the lawless"
  2. There's alot of people who think that way in the faction, believe it or not 😆 more times than one I wondered out loud "Should be getting paid for this" Just like in real life I often go "I aint getting paid enough to deal with this shit."
  3. That is very, very wishful and ignorant thinking. There's chaos every 2 nights..
  4. You're unfortunately incorrect on your first paragraph. The LSPD is based off of the LAPD. (how much or how little is subject to debate). The LAPD has a fully dedicated air wing. Consisting of 19 helicopters and 1 fixed-wing aircraft. 50ish pilots I think and numerous support staff. I do not know why you think it's unrealistic, maybe because you hail from europe. But the LAPD has anywhere from 1 up to 3 aircraft up at all times to provide real-time assistance to patrol units on the ground. So they DO infact "Patrol". And that's not counting the LASD who has their own dedicated air unit, and also not counting CHP with THEIR own airwing. That's 3 agencies for the greater LA area with their own air wings.
  5. Gang injunctions are a thing. When a certain group steps out of line, be it cause of ongoing, increasingly violent moves made, or a flashpoint of intolerable behavior (I.E. Gunning down cops in broad daylight). Courts will order an injunction. And with a very effective detective bureau, that usually simmers people back down to acceptable levels. So you see, a system is already in place for gang-related issues.
  6. Where do you draw the line at "What's healthy, playing to win" and what's "Toxic, I hate this gangbanging donkey and I'm going to do everything in my power to find him, lock him up and laugh at him". You win some, you lose some. But am I automatically cancerous because I want to exhaust all options to catch someone? Why should I deliberately dumb myself down ingame, or handicap myself when the other person doesn't because of the uniform I wear Icly?
  7. Absolutely, the cascade story that 99% of the community never heard about is another perfect example. I was horrified, and I still to this day feel so sorry for cascade.
  8. Fucked up. Still editing. I have to sadly agree with this. I respect the good that was done, but it's far overshadowed by the bad it brought with it. Flemwad wasn't joking. A huge amount of people felt underappreciated, and rightfully so. Favoritism was/is rampant, and if you aren't conforming to "their" norms, you're left out in the cold. People who spent over a year busting their asses to get places were thrown back to favor those that did conform. Rather than accept the fact people are inherintly different and accept that, along with the fact that people have their own personalities. Those same people were ostracized internally and put on a black list. Who's only offense was being different and not sharing the same ideologies. People who aren't in the faction will almost never see or hear this. People that complained, people that wanted to change things, people that had their own idea's to improve the faction that didn't correspond with "their" view. People that prioritized fun. Those were all ostracized, and yes. I'll say it. Bullied to the point where the only option left was to leave the faction all together. 3/4th of the resignations the past weeks, disguised as "Work suddenly increased. School suddenly started, Priorities suddenly changed", were all disguised reasons to not further add to the drama, been told so one-on-one nearly every time. There's no denying positive changes were made. But again, far overshadowed by the negative things brought forward. The rank & file (taking up majority of the faction's slots) were ignored, same people being promoted each week. List goes on. Back in Smokey's day. We had a thing called "Chiefs hour" or something similar. Where Smokey'd invite everyone in his office at once, and hold a civil discord on what people's grievances are. Immediate issues that need resolving, thoughts & opinions. Ever since Smokey left. None of that. I tried approaching people multiple times, and I rarely if ever got a reply back. Claiming transparency and being pure & innocent, but at the same time only talking and interacting with the same friends group, behind locked doors.
  9. Yes, cause an organized crime family known to operate under the radar, with strict code of conduct always leaves things laying around to be used as proof of their criminal activities and WANT people to know they're behind something. If you can't see, hear or find them breaking the law, then they MUST be legit. Makes absolute sense.
  10. LSPD Metrocops. Offering free privilege & reality checks.
  11. It's your typical rivalry between agencies that spiraled out of control. Who "Started" it you can't really say, as I'm sure both departments had a stake in it. But from a PD point of view, I've met some seriously bad apples in sheriffs, been threatened (yes, one LEO to another) and there were even instances of near-fights between agencies. Granted, on one side you can praise the dedication people go to to organically portray their character development through this. But recently it did spiral out of control. I don't know where we stand now honestly, as I've had to focus on work the past few weeks now. But I think the majority of the rank & file deputies are putting their personal opinions aside, just like the majority of the rank & file officers do. And correctly prioritize cooperation rather than bickering. Has improved, but nasty wounds were left by both departments at this point I think that will take some time to heal.
  12. The number 1 issue I heard from independent/non independent journalism is the lack of awareness. Granted, personally I feel you can somewhat mitigate that by being observant and picking up on clues that lead you to crime scenes. But unless I was mistaken, feelers were put out early 2020 about how the PD (SD wasn't a thing back then) would feel about people having acces to the BASE frequency. I.E. Where the general comms go over, traffic stop locations, status changes, alerts, the whole 9 yards, but also the more serious issues, like officer needs help-type of calls where the entire department descends upon one location. And the general consensus was that they wouldn't mind, so long as it's the base frequency, so long as people can't broadcast. Listen-in only, and so long as the access to scanners was strictly regulated by admins only, as the illegal community itself said they feared gangbangers walking around with a scanner system in their pockets/cars. Which needless to say, is dumb.
  13. My only time I ever roleplayed illegally was with the yakuza, and if you ask me, it's because it's rather niche. Majority of people are drawn to surreno/norteno/black/DTM esque factions. And a small group of people prefer more organized, behind the curtains type factions, I've seen some grade A roleplay on prior communities portraying mafia's, be it Italian, Irish, you name it. But Yakuza's were always awe inspiring if they pulled it off well. Ruthless when required, but always methodical, controlled, planned. Had strict conduct regulations. The really great ones imparted you with wisdom on an OOC level aswell, honor-bound codes of conduct, ethics. You just don't get that with your regular run-of-the-mill streetgangs and sets them apart even among organized crime itself. And that's what made it fun. My personal experience was I was legit taken in when I was a noob roleplayer and happen to have a japanese heritage. Someone saw something in my character, and showed the ropes. Never identifying himself for who he truly was. Asked me if I wanted to come by the restaurant that was one of their fronts. Agreed, got shown the ropes, invited to work at the restaurant, gradually worked up (groomed) and when time was right, they'd let you in piecemeal wise on what was actually going on, closely watching you to see if it "clicked" . And when that happend, the fun began. Learned to have a dual persona, learned it all. And I had such. A. Blast. But that level of commitment, roleplay and dedication is something you just don't see alot of these days. Majority of the attempts I've seen ultimately end up looking more like triad-esque factions. Very few ever nailed it spot on. But if they do. It's by far the most enjoyable experience I've had. Sadly the place where that happend is no longer around these days, but it was known for having a very well fleshed out underworld in LS, everyone had their turf, and at regular intervals, certain businesses that made a lot of profit would become "vulnerable" to take overs. Every major branch of organized crime had a faction, had a turf, and did their own thing. You had the yakuza's, the Italians, the Irish, all the way down to the less-organized groups. And whenever they weren't competing with eachother, they all stuck to themselves and focused on Rping with eachother. And occasionally, ally with one another. And as a first RP experience that will always stick with me, cause it taught me just how much fun illegal RP can be if you find a group that resonates with you, has solid dependable leadership, a strong cadré of seasoned lieutenants who know what they're doing. But like I said, it requires all of those elements to blend in perfect harmony, and you rarely if at all see a well made yakuza faction. Cause everyone that is even remotely interested in it (Like me) knows that the pressure to pull it off, is immense.
  14. @Ears Up @Gargam3i Let me make 1 thing clear. I'm not flaming. Flaming on a forum board is about as useless as a screen door on a submarine. Don't mistake me being passionate about defending the faction I'm in for flaming, that being said. If what I said came over as "borderline offensive" then by all means, mea culpa. Not meant to come across as such. What I meant, in TL:DR form. Is that, in my humble opinion, we are held to a higher standard compared to illegal Rp'ers. Generally speaking that is. I've roleplayed as illegal character before, but admittedly it's been some time since. As cop RP is just far more appealing to me. However.. The key differences that I noticed, were like Trudeau mentioned earlier. You are alot more "free" in illegal factions. Free to determine how you want your character to go, for the most part, free to pick what you want to go out and do together with your friends. In PD, there's alot more red tape to go through. There's alot of stuff you don't necessarily want to do, but have to do in order to advance. The environment is different, the atmosphere is different. But regardless of how you turn it. One balances out the other, ying vs yang. And why I feel the burden of nurturing new rpers falls onto everyone's shoulders equally, rather than solely on the LEO factions. It saddens me to hear people claim there's a lack of consequences on PD's side. When in my eyes this is untrue. @Ears Up I've seen many folks in the faction CK of their own volition because they felt the gravitas of the rp they were in justified doing so. If we get in trouble, the simplest reprimand can set a person back a month at the very least. Detectives in particular if they misstep, or get murked. In some cases get yeeted from their cases. There's more, but you get the idea. This might seem like not a big deal to you, but for someone in the faction, it most definitely is. In closing. Again, I am not intending to badmouth anyone that's an illegal RP'er. My best interactions I've had on the server come from you guys, and I've rarely if ever had any bad run-ins with any of you. I'm just saying that the only way we'll all have a good time together, new & old, illegal or illegal, is if we all get along together. And all equally share the burdens when it comes to new Rpers.
  15. Any why the PD specifically my dude? Everyone should be setting an example towards others on how to RP properly. It's not down to a police faction to perform the role of quality enforcement. It's something that the entire community needs to do as a whole.
  16. I can very easily reverse-uno you and ask you why the criminal Rp'ers aren't setting examples? I put 1 person in prison the past 2 to 3 months. You want to know why? Because majority of the scenes end up with someone suiciding by cop. Or deliberately throw themselves off cliffs. To avoid the consequences of their actions. If someone in PD fucks up, which more often than not is completely 110% Icly, all the work they put in, all the progress they made. Takes a huge hit. Compare the 2 and tell me there's not an issue. You are the perfect embodiment of what the vast majority in the community do. And that's take things for granted. Without even sparing a second thought about the work people for example in the justice department do. Specifically the DA's office. Public defenders, judges, everyone associated to the judiciary system. The countless amounts of reports, painstakingly put together by people. The effort put in by people in PD & SD on the daily. Just to provide Y O U with a good RP experience. All in the name of providing a realistic experience for people. Hell, If you cause an accident, and you're proven to have made a grievous mistake with regards to your driving capabilities. You have to chance to be forced to re-certify in driving a car. That means re-applying. Re-sitting in training, getting re-certified. Enforcing standards is all good and well. But standards need to be applied unilateral. Across the board. And not subject to double-standards.
  17. Like many others have said. Beating a dead horse. The way the LSPD works in GTAW is next-level compared to SAMP-based PD factions. I've got over a decade's worth of experience and been in multiple. So I feel qualified to make that statement. The amount of work, dedication and above all, thick skin. That is required from people who join the LSPD is honestly in my humble opinion, exceeding what you'd call a "Game". To put things into perspective: You, can go out and find some random joe shmoe that sells anything you can dream off. And get it to do whatever it is you want to do. I'm talking about drugs, and I'm talking about guns. PD & SD people, undergo months going through the motions of getting hired, getting inducted, getting trained. All of this happens icly. And often spend an even larger amount of time, gaining a permanent spot within the department as an Officer II. It's only THEN. that the department opens up to you, and you can start exploring your options on what type of roleplay you want to go with, of which it offers a vast, vast amount of options. You, can go out and buy a retro elegy custom with minimal RP or justification financial-wise and mod the everloving shit out of it so it's superglued to the roads even at mach 3. PD & SD People, have to undergo even more training, to learn the BASICS. of driving interceptor vehicles designed and set up to nail people who drive vehicles that walk away from anything else they have in their motorpool. To add onto that. There are only 25 or so people. In a department of 200 plus. 25 people who form a team of officers that use those high performance interceptors on a daily basis. That is 25 people for a server of thousands. 25 people who again, see more training and experience to perform in their role as pursuit interception specialists. You, and your hood homies/associates/insertothername have freedom to do whatever it is you want to do. Without any form of "paperwork" or obligations required of you. PD & SD people, again, have a limited number of people dedicated to handle things in their wheelhouse. And again, guess what comes with that. You guessed it, even more paperwork ontop of your paperwork. Even more training, more dedication, commitment. People spend months investigating major cases. Metropolitan people undergo weapons handeling, tactical scenario's, develop entire playbooks, train tactical scenario's that in most cases, are actual tactics & procedures used by real life law enforcement agencies. Actual protocols, deployment grids, etc.. pulled from the NTOA. I've had a few cop friends joking around, saying people in the metropolitan branch know their stuff as good as his real life agency's tactical team. And went on to say they could form a real-life tactical element composing of these guys based off of the stuff they teach & preach. Ultimately, wether or not they have an "advantage" is academic at best. But know that without a shadow of a doubt. The work, dedication, loyalty and above all the time. That's put into the faction by these people, is grossly underappreciated at best.
  18. There's a suggestion, or well. Was? Regarding scanning emergency response frequencies. Taking LAPD for example, their BASE frequency's pretty easy to listen in on. Allowing certain people to have a scanner allowing them to monitor the same BASE frequency of say, LSPD or LSSD. Would make it actually viable for news, independent or not to work with something. Rather than driving around "hoping". The LSPD has a dedicated desk for press related info regarding incidents where people with press credentials can ask for more information, which'll then get replied on by a member of the media relations who usually releases a statement. But if the scanner suggestion DOES make it through, would allow news people to be pro-active.
  19. One of the only forms of organized crime I could see myself doing. Just a shame it's always been rather niché
  20. They're there. You'll just rarely if at all see it unless you're in the PD or the SD.
  21. There's already a dedicated team of people in the LSPD doing their best to try and tackle it. But there's more people out there with elegy's than they can handle. There is nothing that the faction has that can even get close to an elegy, exception being the interceptors, but even those aren't ideal cause 9/10 people stay in downtown LS to try & duke people out. I tried approaching it from a purely IC perspective, and ask for much harsher penalties imposed on people that go that route. But the current penal code "only" lets people get their license suspended for 7 days at the max if they run from me, and a 7 day impound of the car they used to evade me with. Both of which are meaningless, as those types of people don't care if their license is valid or not. And they got enough $$$ to afford a backup car for their backup car. That only leaves jailtime, which is 1 day in jail. So most are back out, ready for round 2 the very next day. You're essentially trying to mop a floor whilst the tap is running. I saw 2 guys get banned because people actually go as far as to leave their fully maxed out elegy, acquired on their main account. Leave it in a parking lot. Log out, log onto their alt. And evade police with -ZERO- regard for their own safety. Blowing through downtown in excess of 140 miles an hour. Had a guy evade for 15 minutes, run his sportscar down the mountain, crawl out. And run on foot for 20 minutes down the zancudo river. Gets nailed again, and instantly rp's having cardiac arrest to attempt to CK. All this in one night.
  22. That problem lies with the judicial system, and not with the LSPD or the LSSD. There's alot of charges listed in the penal code that require a pretty advanced degree of english to understand. And there's alot of people like me in the LSPD who speak english as a 3rd or even 4th language. Add ontop of that the issue where items like the following are exceptionally vague. That is a snip from Title XII, Section 1212 of the Los Santos Penal code. Something that most seasoned traffic cops know by heart. There's alot open to interpretation in this charge. Some people assume if there's no traffic, you can just breeze through. Some assume you HAVE to stop, check for traffic, and THEN proceed cautiously. I've been verified the latter in bold is the correct procedure. But howmany people not associated with the LSPD read the penal code. Or spend their time reading what the actual laws are. Howmany do you think read the various other acts drafted by the government. I understand the frustration that having driving privileges revoked is a pain. But it's a dice roll on what type of officer you'll get. Roll a high number, you'll get guys who will tell you in your face that you goofed, they'll give you a fine, or a warning and let you go. Roll snake eyes and you'll get someone that will throw the book at you. It all depends what type of officer you get, or in most cases, what mood the officer in. Someone who's been on shift for 3-6 hours already and has been shot at multiple times will more than likely be in a less-than-forgiving mood compared to someone who just clocked on and you're the first catch of the day.
  23. Unfortunately that's been an issue pretty much everywhere. People with australian, Far east asian area's, Indonesia, Japan, Etc all have difficulties in every faction regardless. The only exception to this in my eyes would be the LSPD. Majority becomes dormant around 10 am till noon server time. The LSPD's the only one that remains active 24/7. With the europeans who work nights or alternate times, the aussies, and the (middle)eastern bro's working what we call the "Morning or day shift" Gradualy, the europeans who come home from work log on as time goes on, and at around 18:00-19:00 server time you'll see majority of the europeans come on, followed by the (south)americans & the cannucks, who form the "Night shift". Majority of the people in leadership positions or teaching/training positions account for that. And some go out of their way to make sure people from other timezones have their needs tended to. Unfortunately, not everyone is drawn to police RP. So it's fairly niché.
  24. Have to agree with this. But how do you change a mentality that's so ingrained in people's minds?
