the whole purpose of the server is to create interesting storylines and characters. by restricting players from participating in the school, do we create more or less roleplay? realism and the server quality do not always go hand in hand. theres a reason why our characters dont need to eat, piss and shit scriptwise.

and that makes the server better, how?

if the school was in richman, the same Davis kids would travel there and get into the same situations. thats why i dont believe the location is a legitimate factor here. its the same players just in a different spot on the map.

we have to throw realism out of the window here. there is one school on the server. players shouldnt miss out on the opportunity to RP in it on their minor characters because of catchment areas lol. we suspend realty on shit thats a whole lot more important than that.

the location is not relevant. theres one school on the server, meaning wherever it is, players are going to travel to rp there. loads of kids there from vespucci/del perro/la puerta/el burro yesterday

this thread is very reactionary. It was actually a really good first day. Admins jailed a couple people for the fighting. Props to the organisers.

and why, exactly, does writing NEED to be constantly descriptive? well written books, by modern standards, are not just paragraph after paragraph of description. there is a reason why novels written in that style, like a lot of victorian literature, are becoming less popular. its an archaic style. if you don't break up the description the reader stops paying attention. short /me's and punchy dialogue, when appropriate, can be significantly more impactful than paragrpah after paragraph. good writers/roleplayers, to me, know when flowery language is impactful and when it becomes lethargic.

i enjoy both kinds of roleplay but my brain can only handle the longer paragraphs in a 1 on 1 setting. trying to roleplay like its WOW in the middle of a bar is never gonna work.

this kind of statement is the reason why most of the playerbase mock LCN roleplayers

gangbangers exist in the LA criminal culture which this server is based upon. the mafia does not. thats why as roleplayers, rping with the gangbangers feels suitable for the server's collective storyline, and the mafia does not

don’t want to be a contrarian but it seems I’m going against the grain here… as a criminal roleplayer I do not like roleplaying with mafia factions at all and my experiences are totally immersion breaking 95% of the time. i feel like I’m interacting with a stereotype and a character that is totally out of place in the LA criminal underworld. You can argue all you like about how LS is it’s own entity but the fact is that the vast majority of factions do roleplay like it is LA and their characters act accordingly. that is why the Italian mob and the Russian mob stick out like a sore thumb.

a lot of it stems from the fact that on LSRP the guys who ran the valenti esque factions had gigantic egos. that is why there is a stereotype, even on this server, that the mafia roleplayers would be unable to accurately represent their factions place in the criminal underworld - which, in 2023, is the very bottom of the Los Angeles food chain.
