  2. Weapon supplying has always been ridiculous. It's ridiculous that "umbrella factions" have to hand out guns to maintain their influence over other factions. It's ridiculous that you can sell a single firearm for the same amount of money as a half pound of drugs. It's ridiculous that a crew of gun dealers will make 10x the money of a crew of drug dealers. It's ridiculous that even bullets are sold as some scarce underworld commodity. I've always wanted to see what would happen if guns were as readily available IG as they are IRL. The argument against it seems to be that DMing would get worse but I don't see how it could get worse. Roleplaying in a gang faction is already about as pleasant as a colonoscopy due to DMing. Even if DMing did get a bit worse with more guns, we'd at least have a somewhat realistic underworld economy. I pray for the day getting your hands on a gun is as simple as making a call to one of the 20 people you know who has spare guns and will sell you one for cheap. Seriously, let's just see what happens. We don't know if flooding the server with guns would be shit but we definitely know the way it works right now is shit.
  3. FM can do something about the Discord problem. It is currently a requirement for factions to have one and add their IFM handler as an administrator. It is literally the only reason my faction has one. This requirement should not exist. Had the same problem and it's the main reason I left GTAW for a while. It might be reassuring to know that it is possible to run a faction that's the opposite of this. It's just you have to do it yourself.

  6. Different meanings in different contexts. 'Civilian' is a valid term to use when contrasting members of criminal organizations and people who are not.
  7. This is a really good point right here. Most people in most 'hoods' irl are just regular people and they're unlikely to be victimized for no reason just because they're honest people. The key is that they're local. If your character is genuinely local to the area and you roleplay as such, even if you're a civilian, they're unlikely to be bothered unless you just have a terrible faction in that area. If your character isn't local, be careful in that hood. They're hoods for a reason. But if they are local, roleplay accordingly and I doubt you'll have problems. Of course this does take some common sense to be able to roleplay a certain level of street smarts, as pointed out here. But generally just mind your own business and get to know some people and you'll be fine.
  8. ah, I see where I went wrong. I foolishly assumed the optimal rate was 13. I guess it's a trick question. I'll re-submit my examination when I'm eligible again next month, thank you (SYR)
  9. my big homie asked me to submit my written examination in order to achieve the rank "Ragged" but I'm struggling on the question about the optimal rate of eses per minute (EPM). please consider a guide on this subject, thank you 🙏
  10. i hope valhalla got wheelchair access 🙏🙏
  11. Returning to this server after a while away, I was actually surprised at how restrictive the new system already is. I mean, it isn't difficult, but there's enough 'paperwork' involved to deter anybody who isn't serious from starting a faction. We should be looking at other problems for the cause of the high rate of faction turnover. It's not a matter of the application process not being strict enough. It's a matter of factions encountering various issues that cause them to close. Some should be preventable,. others aren't. For example, I would have absolutely no interest in opening a street gang faction. To me it seems like gang roleplay is just constant PVP, one could even say DM in a lot of cases. This was my experience the last time I tried it, and that experience was enough to deter from me engaging in that roleplay ever since. I have no doubt that this is closing factions. Then there's also the fact that in a lot of cases, people just get bored. There's a pretty bad trend of people getting bored and abandoning perfectly good factions with good potential. I've seen this close good factions well before their time. So there's plenty of people with good intentions opening factions to which they are dedicated, only to have their members stop logging in within two weeks because they've gone to rp something else. In some cases maybe this is the fault of the faction for just not being engaging, in a lot of cases it isn't. Lots of different problems contributing to factions' short life spans. I don't believe the application process is one of them.
