  1. This thread is pointless. People need to be more comfortable making reports, not less. Admins are perfectly capable of determining when a report is being made in bad faith and acting accordingly, so the system sorts itself without the need to try and influence people against making reports.
  2. Absolutely +1 There is a compromise to be reached with the EU and US communities, and i think 2 hours or so is a good one
  3. This is a fantastic idea, and the people who are crying at the very suggestion of it are saying more about themselves than anything else. +1! Edit: This should apply heavily to vehicles like OP said, but should just as heavily apply to guns.
  4. Username: SAndrea Comment: "I have received compliments on my work by many VIPs that being politicians, law enforcement officials, judges, lawyers.. and now you, some random, trying to criticise?" Imagine typing this out, rereading it, and coming to the conclusion that this is what you want to say to the world as a "journalist".
  5. I've seen this kind of behavior a lot over the years and it seems to kinda be the default now. Rules lawyering is very prevalent to the point that people seem to adhere to a sort of meta with the rules. I see a lot of people operating in a play2win manner that doesn't just focus on achieving more gains for their characters, but to actively degrade and inconvenience the people behind the keyboard playing other characters. On top of that, I just see a lot of blurring between what's IC and OOC with people taking their faction or "gang" affiliations to the extreme to the point that they behave toward each other ooc'ly as opponents competing for who really knows what - be it clout, script cash, etc. I'm not trying to paint this as if play2win mindsets and ooc toxicity haven't been present forever. They're endemic to communities that rely on collaboration and good-faith to function properly. I do see, however, a normalization of it here on GTAW that I do not see in other communities and remember not seeing here before.
  6. Okay, then punish people who make blatantly petty reports for non-issues. I couldn't agree more that there's just too much reporting, but people should be held accountable for their rules lawyering and drama mongering just as they would be for doing anything else that harms the server's culture.
  7. Rules are never going to matter if punishments aren't meaningful. You have multiple former staff members saying this is the issue, as well as large swaths of the community. Enforcing the rules is how you establish and maintain standards. It has to be clear, or this problem will never be addressed. As many have said in this and other threads, the types of criminal role players who engage in frequent, low-quality robbery RP are not the types of people who participate in discussion threads on the forums. The way to protect the server against those types is to make sure that when rules are broken the punishment is meaningful enough to either bring them up to standard or drive them away.
  8. Massive +1, though I doubt this is ever implemented. While I understand that it is a driver for server revenue, and I do not believe that's a bad thing as I know there are costs associated with keeping the lights on, I do find it frustrating that I need to get an expensive package just to run my in-game business effectively. Opening the business and adding instructions for people to find the place via /gps doesn't work in my experience - the blip is pretty much mandatory. Having more people able to easily obtain the ability to use the blip would be good imo. The reality of the situation is that it's a major driver of the money the server needs to stay viable. If there's a way to make this particular perk cheaper, I'd 100% support it though.
  9. Username: MYumi Comment (reply): Sanity is not a feature of the GOP or its natural state. This is a silly idea that people always invoke when right wingers show their true colors. This is what they believe! We must be aware of this and understand this if we wish to make progress for the groups that fall victim to their hate. 😕
  10. Username: MYumi Comment: It is very saddening that our "leaders" behave like internet trolls. Democrats must get it together and put forth a good agenda for upcoming elections as well as make sure they are messaging constantly and positively so voters can understand the stakes. It is terrifying that the party of Jonathon Spencer and Noah Wade control all levels of government in San Andreas.
  11. i ask "WAT IS BEST CASH PAY JOB ON SERVER ??" in the discord and then grind that for about 90-100 hours for hardcore character development i go to open businesses and afk in a corner i am also a street racer
  12. Played it when it came out when I was 11 and had an existential crisis over it. Shaped a lot of my worldview and tastes in media going forward. I owe a lot to this game.
  13. I'm genuinely interested in hearing the truth on this too. If you ask, most players will say there is absolutely a shortage of guns for the illegal community. Meanwhile, staff and some others say there's no shortage at all. There has to be a way to figure this out, but I have no experience as staff and no experience doing illegal RP that involves guns (since about 2019 at least). If it's an issue that's contributing to overreliance on muggings for criminals to get guns, I think that's an issue for sure.
  14. I wholeheartedly agree with overturning robbery rules if, in the same breath, the victims are allowed to react to the rampant crime in LS like it would be realistically reacted to. It is iconic to see people who put forward "solutions" that only benefit their side, then mald when people see the proposed "solution" for what it is. If you want everyone to have their cake and eat it to, then let's do that. Allow GOV to expand prison sentences, allow heavy-handed and effective injunctions in gang areas.
  15. This, tbh. You always see these threads that assume restricting non-faction RP will be a silver bullet, and imo it's a bit odd. I've had plenty of interactions with factions that are awful and plenty of interactions with non-faction role players that are great. Simply being in a faction doesn't make someone creative or engaging and, in the same breath, not being in a faction doesn't make someone low-quality and bad. -1
  16. Username: MYumi Comment: I am happy to see that Democrats are playing the role of the grown-ups in the room, as this should not even be a debate that a civilized society is having. Republicans need to stop using the specter of taking human lives to sell this narrative of a "silver bullet" on crime. There is no "silver bullet" solution, and it is dishonest and frankly sickening to hear such barbaric things spoken by elected leaders. The solutions are complex just like the problems. More community policing, more direct collaboration between the public and law enforcement/government, and more accountability for those in power. Killing is not the answer, and it will not undo the harm that criminals do, nor deter them.
  17. This is honestly a big part of it, yeah. Multiple times when I've been robbed, the guy with the gun in my character's face has to get extra with it and tack on some weird humiliation aspect. If I was an opposing gang member or something, I guess that'd make sense. But when you're just robbing the cigarettes and phone off a random passerby, it feels a bit contrived and a bit like griefing to force them to humiliate themselves or to escalate to actually kidnapping/pistol-whipping them when they're already complying.
  18. This could be handled as an ic issue and for all intents and purposes should be. In a realistic city where policing is done as incompetently as it is portrayed on server, there would be demonstrations and protests and interest groups. It’d be a hot button issue that is debated and talked about constantly in local media as well as social media. Unfortunately, a very very large majority of players don’t seem interested in this kind of rp. I’m not blaming them. If it’s not your thing it’s not your thing. However, so long as legal role players continue to ignore the very real issues that could lead to intriguing role play between the populace and the government, then I don’t see the situation improving all that much.
