  1. Username: Max Power Comment: It's not premeditated murder when the government does it. What a fucking world we live in. Also, the fact that the death sentence is being carried through is evidence that it doesn't work as a deterrence.
  2. 15/MAR/2023 Macdonald St. - Rancho || Shots Fired ! Narrative: I had just left the Davis/Rancho area to go check out a car meet, when I heard a call of shots fired on the SD dispatch radio. I quickly turned around and headed back to Rancho. When I got closer, I saw a black 2-door vehicle cross the intersection in front of me, from right to left, followed by the pursuing SD deputies. The lead SD deputy stuck their gun out the window, and shot at the vehicle as they were chasing it down Macdonald Street, right in front of me. I heard the suspect vehicle come to a stop, so I quickly parked up and ran to the scene, camera in hand. It appeared like the deputy had managed to hit and kill the alleged shooter. The intersection quickly filled with cops, and the SD heli hovered above. The black 2-door vehicle was riddled with bullet holes, and the driver laid slumped over the steering wheel.
  3. Name: Max Power Comment: Nice to see they placed the barriers on the damn crosswalk.
  4. 29/FEB/2024 Grove St. - Davis || Pursuit ✓ Narrative: I caught wind of a pursuit going through the city. It went through Downtown, up to Vinewood, and then came all the way back down to Davis. The suspect crashed into another vehicle on Grove Street, proceeded to flee on foot, but was tazed in a nearby alleyway. I later found out that they were a suspect in some repeated trespassings at the docks.
  5. 28/FEB/2024 Innocence Blvd. - Chamberlain Hills || Investigation & Shooting ✓ Narrative: I was checking out a call at the mechanic shop in Chamberlain Hills. I parked up nearby got out, and snapped one picture before a bullet suddenly whizzed by me from behind. I ducked down, and took cover behind my car as I peered behind me, trying to see where the shot came from. I spotted three individuals around a green SUV, one of them shooting wildly at one of the others, I had just happened to be parked in the line of fire. The cops at the mechanic shop ran out to see what's going on as well. At the same time the green SUV sped off, and the cops followed. Sadly I didn't have enough time to snap a picture of any of this. I followed to cops who went after the green SUV, but they lost it somewhere around Davis, and the trail went cold. You'll see soon why I'm even writing about something I didn't get a picture of. Projects - Davis || Tazer Deployed ✓ Narrative: Not long after the shooting debacle, I heard a tazer had been deployed in Davis. Upon arriving I saw a suspect down on the ground, being cuffed by some deputies. They later let him go. Projects - Davis || Shooting Suspect ✓ Narrative: Still at the tazer call, I walked to my car, and got inside to upload the pictures I had taken to our cloud, when I spot a familiar SUV pull into the parking. The green SUV that had been involved in the shooting from before, followed by a cop car. I wondered what the chances of that was for a second, before jumping back out to go snap pictures of the impending arrest.
  6. 23/FEB/2024 Grove St. / Davis // Brawl Turned Homicide ! Narrative: Alright, hello again. After taking a personal break at the start of the year, I'm now back to stringing; because that's what you're here for. To hear about the nightly happenings of our messed up city, not to listen to the details of my personal life. So here we go. I kicked off this year by heading to something that was initially called in as a brawl, but had turned to a homicide by the time I got there. I parked up on Grove Street and walked closer. SD hadn't bothered with any tape yet but I kept out of their way as they were busy zipping up a body bag as I got my shots. Elgin Ave. & San Andreas Ave. / Pillbox Hill // Vehicle Accident ✓ Narrative: I just had to stop on Elgin Ave to take this shot, too good to pass up. Bay City Ave. & Vitus St. / Vespucci Canals // Brawl ✓ Narrative: I ended my first evening of 2024 with another brawl call. I arrived as SD had apparently just calmed the situation down. One person was hunched over, panting, while the other sank down to the ground. A minute later one of them was handcuffed, and taken away. The ambulance arrived a few minutes after that.
  7. Do I understand you correctly in that you do not support a more realistic approach to media RP, with the reason being that it should be difficult? If not, please clarify, because that's not how it works in real life, and we are on a heavy rp server after all, aren't we? If you try to refute that, I will simply ask why are we roleplaying at all? This argument is very often made with new suggestions, even my simple suggestion of being able to cook food at home had people telling me that it would get abused. Are you saying that LEO roleplayers are already abusing the information they get so much that adding media to that would be too much? Because if not, you're saying that LEO roleplayers don't abuse the information, but for some reason us media roleplayers will. Why are you saying I will abuse it? Do I, and my fellow media roleplayers, not have integrity?
  8. My character has tried your approach these past few months. Of the 29 posts that my character has done, less than 5 of them is because of shared information from a source within SD. I assume it's because no one dares to share info about ongoing calls. As has been previously mentioned, everyone refers media to the PIOs, who are very often not available, and even so, asking them for information is kind of too late. Everything has already happened and you have no footage. So it kind of works for newspaper journalists, that write articles for the following day, no pictures or video needed, but it doesn't work for stringers and the like. Then also, on your point of the possibility of it being abused: what is stopping police officers from sharing information to criminals, just as you suggest media leaking information to criminals (which would be a death sentence for the media company, might I add)?
  9. Do you remember what the reason was for not wanting it implemented? Other than "We do not want to", that is.
  10. Yeah I'd be more interested in the in-game dispatch frequency "listen only" access, not teamspeak. But, anything at all is miles better than we have now.
  11. +1 I have a character who is a stringer, and this is something I have been wanting for a long time. We try to ask for this every now and again but it never leads anywhere, with no real explanation as to why. My character has even been stopped a few times for simply following a PD or SD car to a scene, and thus missing the entire scene. I am unsure what else they want media to do, if we can't even follow a police car to a scene. And once we arrive there, we have no idea what the scene even is, and have to try and scrape together information from wherever we can. A PIO is seldom available for questioning. I want to give props to FD for at least having a live incident tracker on their discord, and their PIOs are often found on scene or available for questions. But even for them some kind of dispatch access would be nice. Zak Holman is a good example of what stringer work looks like, here is a video that showcases him listening to several dispatches right from the start (note that he is even following PD at high speeds on the highway, also, look at all the equipment in his car). And in this video he is talking about how something was "reported as a shooting". He got this info from the dispatch he was tuned into. Check his YouTube channel, there's like hundreds of examples. Some radio channels are encrypted, which he can't listen to (I think Burbank PD is encrypted), but the majority is unencrypted. He is of course never talking on those channels, the one he is talking on is his own news company's radio channel.
  12. The ability for the customer to see what the driver has set the fare to before choosing them would be great as well. It's always a gamble and a surprise on what the fare is. Sometimes it's $5/5 sec, sometimes it's $100/5 sec.
  13. 02/December/2023 Innocence Blvd. | Davis | Protest Preparations ✓ Narrative: I got a message from my colleague, Stone, about a protest that is about to happen down in Davis. I quickly threw my gear on, hopped on my motorbike, and headed there. I arrived to a blocked off Innocence, met up with Stone and we asked permission to enter the perimeter on foot. An SD guy let us in, and announced code 20 on the radio. The SD Deputies seemed tense as they stood in a line, guarding their building. A K-9 was standing with its handler, and two helicopter loomed in the sky above. Some protesters gathered across the road, but not much was really happening, odd. We heard a beanbag shot go off around the corner, and rushed to check on it. We found nothing of particular interest; some guy was getting arrested, but when we returned to Innocence all the protesters were gone. Stone asked around, and found out they were going to start the protest at Mission Row. I rushed back to my bike, and headed to Mission Row. Sinner St. | Mission Row | Protest ✓ Narrative: I arrived to a completely packed Mission Row, the protest was in full swing. I parked my bike across the street, and headed into the crowd, camera in hand. The protesters were demanding, among other things, justice for Jopp, an end to police violence against Blacks and Mexicans, a plea for cops to stop killing, and to re-abolish the death penalty. Many chants of "Black Lives Matter!" was heard as well. The crowd pushed further and further up the steps until they seemingly started bumping into the line of PD Officers, and eventually some sporadic fighting broke out. I lost sight of my colleague in the chaos, just as all the SD Deputies from Davis turned up, seemingly to help PD control the crowd. I heard shouts of the protesters planning to march towards the SD HQ in Davis, so I rushed back to my bike, wanting to get there ahead of them. Strawberry Ave. | Strawberry | Protest March ✓ Narrative: I caught up with the protesters marching towards the Davis Station, and stopped my bike to snap a quick picture before driving on. Innocence Blvd. | Davis | Protest Continuation ✓ Narrative: I even managed to arrive before SD, to my surprise, so I had plenty of time to park up my bike, and collect myself before the protesters arrived. After half a minute of self reflection, SD turned up in force. They seemed well organized and I noticed some of them wearing what looked like gas masks. I had no time to ask questions however because the protesters rounded the corner onto Innocence, and marched steadily onwards. They stopped in front of the line of SD Deputies, and continued their protest. As I stepped up onto the sidewalk to get some shots of the line of Deputies vs. the line of protesters, I heard the sound of a pin being removed, coming from behind me to the left. What followed was some kind of gas canister flying almost over my head, and landing among the protesters. An SD Deputy turned out to be the one doing the throwing. The tear-gas proved effective against the crowd of people, as they immediately dispersed. Most SD Deputies were now donning gas masks. The protesters weren't deterred for long though, as they simply moved further down the road to continue their protest. The SD Deputies eventually followed suit, and began deploying tear-gas at the crowd again. My lungs were burning as I stepped out onto the road to get the pictures I wanted the world to see. Roy Lowenstein Blvd. | Davis/Rancho | Protest Escalates ✓ Narrative: SD continued herding the crowd of protesters down Roy Lowenstein, using tear-gas. Someone identifying themselves as Chief James Barnett shouted through a megaphone from the SD Helicopter above, ordering everyone to disperse as they are in violation of penal code section 107, unlawful assembly. I could tell the protesters were getting angrier by the second. It all culminated on the corner of Roy Lowenstein and Macdonald, as the Deputies and protesters stood face to face. A protester with their face covered came up to me and blocked my camera just as two people from the crowd rushed the line of Deputies. What followed was an all-out brawl between SD and those who chose to fight. Punches were thrown left and right, people were running around screaming and shouting, and rubber bullets flew past me several times as SD seemed to picked their targets among the mass of people. Control was quickly lost, but the protesters naturally dispersed due to the fighting and disappeared into the streets and alleyways nearby. I was absolutely exhausted, drenched with sweat, and smelled of tear-gas as the fighting subsided. I started walking around the area, and found an alleyway where protesters and Deputies tended to their wounds. I snapped a picture of the oddly quiet scene, and then headed back to Innocence to see if anyone had remained there. Innocence Blvd. | Davis | Protest Ends ✓ Narrative: I spotted two ominous looking vehicles sitting at the nearby Medical Station, inside were what seemed like some kind of special riot unit, fully decked out for combat. My gut feeling told me something was up, but I didn't yet know what. I spotted a sniper on top of the nearby parking lot as well, and he spotted me. We looked at each other for a while, before his attention was pulled elsewhere. I bumped into Donna Love outside the SD Station, and pulled out my notepad as I exchanged a few words with her. She told me "Reznik and his people are as usual trying to suppress the black race once again.". I asked for a picture, and she approved, taking the opportunity to throw up her fist, Black Power. I noticed the ominous looking vehicles I had spotted earlier rolling up behind her as I took the picture. She continued on explaining how she's running for the South Central District, and is trying to come to a peaceful resolution to the problems the people there face. Love was about to explain how she was trying to get that accomplished, but she was cut short as the two ominous looking vehicles suddenly surrounded us, and out jumped a hoard of Deputies. My gut feeling had been correct. I stepped to the side and continued taking pictures as they forcefully grabbed Love and started moving her towards a nearby black van. A member of SD stepped up to me, and appeared to attempt to block my view, my camera's view, the media's view, of what was going on. I knew my rights, so I simply stepped to the side, and continued documenting the scene. Love got shoved into the van, and was quickly taken inside the SD compound. The gate shut behind them after they entered, and the two ominous looking vehicles disappeared as quickly as they came. The protest was over, at least for now.
  14. 22/November/2023 Grove St. -> Dutch London St. | Davis -> Banning || Alleged Deputy Down ! Narrative: Riding down Grove Street on my motorbike, I noticed the amber lights of a Fire Department truck in the cul-de-sac. I parked and walked over. No deputies, no firefighters in sight, not even in their cars. A group of people were watching something from atop a concrete fence, near the canal. I waited a bit, then a Fire Department guy showed up from the alley. I asked him what was happening and he mentioned a deputy down in the sewers. Not much to go on, but enough. I got back on my bike, headed to Dutch London Street as I knew I'd get a better view of the canal from there than from that fence. Found the real scene: a suspect down, crime scene tape, the works.
  15. 19/November/2023 SADCR State Prison -> PHMC | Grand Senora Desert -> Downtown || Prison Emergency ✓ Narrative: I got a pager about some kind of emergency happening at the State Prison, so I hopped on my motorbike and headed over there. Media wasn't allowed to actually enter the prison itself, and no PIO was on site so I had to camp outside prison grounds to get these pictures. I chose the same spot I was harassed at as seen in my previous post; no harassment this time though, I guess they were all busy dealing with the ongoing emergency.
