how is it acting like a pussy to decide NOT to provoke the street thug with tattoos on his face? Gary Cooper is an actor, I'm sure he's never met a real criminal.

Not sure you've ever encountered a real criminal IRL, but there are some scary people out there in the world of gangs. Even people like Gary Cooper would be scared.

You two obviously dont get the joke / reference.

I'm happy to see everyone's honest inputs on this, I feel like a raw conversation is needed here.

I do also hope management/staff gets an eye through some of these to gauge what the community is asking for and feeling.

I'm gathering the following in terms of the negatives-...
    - People don't want to feel like everything is micromanaged by an admin team, leave space for creativity.
    - The admin team should promote/support those trying to create new roleplay, not push them down.
    - That a sense of creativity is needed and an events team/continuity team would help contribute to creating more roleplay, that it would be nice to have a centralized spot/area that could attract people to roleplay in (perhaps the introduction of a restricted crime zone? - maybe this was the goal of the mall?)
    - People resort to reports too quickly, the community seems at times toxic or to focused on "winning."

What solutions would everyone like to see? What suggestions?

Well, first of all, get rid of all the restriction and forms when it comes to rping concepts, If you give people more space to RP what they want to RP without being watched through a magnifying glass, it'll be a start to something. Now, I am not saying, just throw it all out there and let people RP the most craziest concepts ever, just allow them to rp it atleast and If it works out? It works out, If not? It won't.  But for the love of god, don't force us write a whole essay on why we want to RP a simple concept, it's not needed and it'll take the fun away from it, the micromanaging gotta go. And it's not only the staff team's fault, because I am sure they are working hard with a lot of things, but it's us player's fault too. There need to be a lot of changes when it comes to factions, most of us are so trapped in these bland concepts and ways of RP that we can't see past it anymore (And new players will think this is the way to do it, so they will copy it). It's always the same things you see, gun deals, drug deals, shootings, repeat. It's the same old thing over and over again, there's more to it than just guns and drugs. Another thing, and I am sure a lot of people will jump me for this, but give detectives the ability to take down factions when they fully did their intel on a certain faction (I probably wrote that wrong). It's kind of ridiculous to see all these factions do all these crazy suicidal stuff with no repercussions, they shoot at cops, sit those days out and they are back on the streets doing the same thing again. There are no snitches, everyone is a die-hard loyal criminal. Another thing that should change is just- give each other a chance, I know there's this whole legal vs illegal thing going on but even like staying with certain cliques and- I understand, obviously you wanna RP with your friends and what not, but maybe for once, give a stranger a try, hell, I don't know check other people's character threads, leave a positive comment, try to roleplay with them. Maybe it's me but it's quite annoying to see that people will just ignore you ingame If they don't know you OOCly. Another thing is, give other niche businesses a chance, we all know that clubs and bars are pretty much the businesses of GTAWorld, and these smaller businesses are pretty much left in the dust to the point where they become demotivated and just stop opening up. Give those businesses a chance too.

    - People resort to reports too quickly, the community seems at times toxic or to focused on "winning."

I rather want my character to take L'z rather than have a picture perfect character. The more L'z, the more my character wants to change or can work towards something. It's OK to take L'z, people, it's not the end of the world If you get dropped in a shootout or lose something Icly, In the end? It's still a videogame.

I'm just throwing my two cents in, not to throw fuel on the firepit.

About your point where players reference the "glory days", this time existed, and it was about a decade ago. Anyone who was around on LSRP from 2012-2015 knows that the standards were high and people roleplayed. There were always bad apples, but when the server had 600/600 players and you had to wait 10-15 minutes to join, it really was a good time. That's what a "community" felt like, the streets were full of life and most corners in South Central had players. You saw people walking, talking, driving regular ass cars, and at the same time there were multiple factions for anyone who was interested to join, whether that'd be LCN factions, gangs, OCGs, LEO factions ( you can say whatever you want about Michael Houston, but after he left, it really was the end of an era in LSPD ).

Like someone said above, on GTAW you'll either find the cop rejects, the NEETs or the second lifers, even the gang rpers have left.

Gangs? You barely see them anymore. The Mafia who is supposed to be an integral part of GTA in general? It has been deemed "unrealistic", yet people fail to realize that LCN factions typically have very high standards, and they're involved both in legal and illegal RP. Point out another concept that is as involved in illegal RP as legal, there isn't. And no, stereotypical Eastern European caricatures don't count.

The streets are not full of life, you barely see anyone. Everyone roleplays inside interiors, and people, don't give me the "robbers are everywhere boo-hoo!" excuse. Why weren't people complaining about being robbed all the time on LSRP in 2014?

GTAW is successful financially, and the numbers prove it, but it's not a server that encourages roleplay, it wants people who donate, who are obedient civilians and those who don't step out of line or dare portray something unique. It's not GTA if it doesn't have gangs, the mafia, the elite, the corpos, the lowlifes,  all fighting for a piece of a very large pie.

Anyway, as someone who has been a member of several roleplay communities for at least a decade, if not longer - GTAW is stale, tasteless, bland, clinical. It can work if you roleplay a civilian and don't step out of line, but otherwise? No, if you're coming from LSRP, especially if you were an old player there - you probably won't find what you're looking for here, LSRP was gritty and not sterilized and you didn't depend on the administration for half of your activities like you are here. Everything is kept behind an application, and the admins are always right there on your doorstep if you roleplay something illegal, no matter what, ready to criticize you or admonish you, often for things that aren't even listed in the rules.

And the sad thing is? It probably wont change, I always like to say that GTA RP kinda died with SAMP's lsrp.

Illegal RP in its current state needs to be nuked a full restart. It's stuck in this horrendous loop right now.

    * Suppliers don't actually do their job, they just trade with other suppliers and gatekeep their supplies for their friends.

    * Everyone hacks.

    * Official status is way too gatekept.

    * The umbrella factions are all meh at best.

    * Everyone seems to be allied with one another, afraid to politic or do wars at all due to admin intervention.

    * OCGs act like gangs and gangs act like OCGs.

^ The above just scratches the surface, I'm not trying to be super negative here but it's the reality. There is no 1 solution, it's going need changes from the top down. Certain people are holding certain positions just to hold them, they have no interest roleplaying the actual concept. The rules are backwards, the current faction system is TOO hard to become official but too EASY to be an unofficial group.

    It just needs nuked.

Feels like a lot of people are intentionally pretending the "repeatedly opening and closing small groups" portion of the idea, just to have a reason to shit on the whole thing.

...and keep in mind, I'm no fan of CloudedEra. They're long displayed some seriously questionable moral makeup, so this isn't some buddy-buddy thing here. I hate the guy, but this idea isn't half-bad. Really tidies up the whole dilemma of trash-tier roleplay that the criminal community has been complaining about but not actually doing anything to resolve.
