  1. You should make a thread for your character so we can follow your journey
  2. Not sure if it’s my place to comment (probably not) but this is the dumbest argument ever. Admin A ruling in situation A doesn’t mean that admin B has to rule A in situation B. I can imagine significant variables are; what kind of character does the shooting, the justification and the roleplay surrounding said shooting. People seem to want a blanket rule either permitting or prohibiting getting shot outright. Why don’t we just reference the law, which clearly states you have the right to defend your own property - but shooting someone just for breaking into your empty car is way too excessive. It’s an entirely different scenario if you or someone else is inside the car, because you’d have a legitimate self-defense claim. Why would your (presumably) perfectly legal and licensed civilian suddenly (who’d be certified by a firearms instructor) turn into an absolute cold blooded murderer to protect their empty car with force that would jeopardize everything they have with permanent legal consequences? But when there’s someone in the car we’re talking about more than just car theft we’re talking about a credible threat to life and liberty. I can on the other hand see how a seasoned gangbanger might spot an enemy banger either breaking into a car on the wrong territory, or alternatively severely punish their own jack boy for fucking up. That’s a level argument for fucking around and finding out, because it goes beyond just the simple car jacking. Whatever happened to common sense. How is just strolling up to a car thief and blowing their brains out without any depth or justifications the pinnacle of roleplay? You need to chill and wait for GTA VI if that’s what you wanna be doing.
  3. There will always be people, either intentionally or not, who will metagame the /ame. I’ve seen people shot over an unrelated /ame while at gun point solely because it’s associated with “x reaches for”. To me the animation is pretty clear, is theatrical as it is already. You don’t always see when someone pulls a gun, and that’s okay.
  4. I think I’m just getting too old for this game and it’s not making me any less toxic about certain aspects. Been going since 2007, and although many people have come and gone a hard sticky core of players have been a consistent presence for the better part of a decade and up. I used to complain how I just keep running into the same people running the same factions over and over again. But then it’s also hypocritical for me because I’ve been doing pretty much the same thing myself. It’s hard to keep things 100% In-Character because this server and the ones that came before it never worked like that in the first place. The whole “who you know matters” has only become more solidified over the years and I’ve both suffered and profited from it. Most of the people I know here have no business still playing this game, myself included, and over the years we’ve changed a lot. But what’s kept us going is probably a mix of nostalgia, boredom and catharsis. Most importantly it’s our roleplay that connects us, whether it improved is something you’d have to decide for yourself. At the end of the day we’re here to have fun, I could do with a little less drama.
  5. I also just roleplay a gamified economy. 60k is indeed 60k. That said, if you charge me 400 for a beer it’s perfectly acceptable escalation for me to shoot you in the face.
  6. This is pretty much the core issue. It’s not helped that most of these characters look stupid as hell like they went to the character creator and said “gimme Riley from Boondocks” and then started spreading the ash of their dead RP everywhere they go. These are the people cops and civies see most because apart from the occasional fight or vandalism you rarely interact with “good” gang youth outside of seeing them in their territory. And they are fine, they’ll roleplay support and dependency systems that you can always interact with and give gangs levels of authenticity and different depths. Especially as a cop, there are different things you can shake out of a child as opposed to a hardened Sureno. But people don’t complain about that, they don’t see that. All they see is some kid with moppy dreads screaming on discord “IM DRIPPY CUH” dressing like their favorite YouTuber while being an absolute menace IG mirroring Roblox RP with Fortnite shenanigans. It’s a different level of engagement with the game that collides with our own. People take this game seriously to different degrees and that’s fine but the people that fall outside the “norm” take forever to get banned. And before they do they leave a trail of destruction in their collective wake. In this case, that destruction is the destruction of teen roleplay for gangs.
  7. While that’s based as fuck it’s generally not advisable to argue with bureaucratic institutions when you need something from them. In this case, if FLD claims the sky is purple and our alien overload require blood sacrifices of your first born child in order to issue your CCW, you probably wanna do that first and then complain about how the city is infringing your 2A rights with tyrannical gun control
  8. There’s a really good suggestion here about adding the option for structural security options, which realistically are a huge part of the homes we see in the hills. As for the robberies of your person at your home, I had a house in the county. If someone drove past my 34 trespassing signs I’d light them the f up, call the police, and get a pat on the back. Now this is very different from houses up on the hill that are subject to different regulations and different layouts. But that doesn’t mean you have to accept someone stepping onto your land. However, the issue probably is that a 4 deep Torrence pulls up with guns drawn; What you do in these situations is up to you, your character and your roleplay. All I can say is use your best judgement, be alert, be safe, and use the tools that are made available to you. Especially the tools carefully crafted by players for players. The frequency of robberies I take with a grain of salt. You can’t blame people for roleplaying something x amount of times independently from another. That’s like saying people can’t roleplay being female because there’s too many females. That said robbers are held to the same expectations in terms of quality as others. And if someone is really trash you report them - and let it go. You can crack your brain about needing someone banned for retribution but the punishment system we have on this server doesn’t work that way. That’s for another suggestion though. As for my personal situation; The breakins all occurred when I was offline, I haven’t been robbed in a mugging since 2020 and I escaped that attempt. I hired security in the form of an alarm package with patrols because it was affordable and it makes sense if you’re the victim of multiple burglaries. Also because fuck you for breaking in when I’m offline, it’s funny to see security reports of people breaking in and getting caught for fucking with my stuff while I’m not even around. And with people not being available at certain hours, most security companies have people online at literally every hour of the game. And if they don’t, that’s fine. That’s the game, you can’t be waterproof with everything sometimes you just have to accept things. And if you decide to play in the dead of night when nobody is playing the game to begin with maybe you have to consider the value of your presence in the game. I’d never log in and roam the city at that hour, not with a civilian or criminal character anyway. But that’s not shade, that’s just something you have to figure out for yourself. Find what works for you, and accept that there is a dark zone of suck around the server restart. Does it need to change? Yeah, but all you can do here is point it out, call out administrative inaction appropriately, and not let it eat you up. Differentiate between something that’s your responsibility and something that’s not. If you are getting robbed that many times a week you’ve become someone’s gun mule. Like I said earlier you need to take steps, if I was in your situation I’d identify the type of people robbing me. Is it actually the local gang? Do they roleplay good? Or are they actually just idiotic day flies? If they’re part of a real gang they have accountability, they probably roleplay correctly and leave you with a pretty real robbery. If they suck, you can report them to their gang and their leadership has every incentive to make sure people do things right. Your recourse beyond that are LFM and regular reports. If however you are being plagued by trash bags I’d actually stop carrying, in fact I’m toxic enough to bait these idiots to come rob me with an entirely empty inventory and waste their time entirely and out their sewage roleplay on YT with dumb music. A phone is replaceable and even that you can store in a car or house. The contact list is exportable and I save my numbers on a notepad anyway. You don’t need cash, until you do when an ATM is always near you. Sometimes taking the L is actually the uno W. But the core issue here is of course; trash robberies. The bulk of trash robberies are for firearms, so it makes sense for me to take a look at the gamification around the acquisition of guns for crooks. Because if the path of least resistance is behaving in a consistently destructive manner that destroys outdoor roleplay across the server for the past year or so, and leads to the need for these types of things then something is fundamentally wrong. And maybe staff needs to look further into what kind of system they want, and what the effects of that system are. Because as it is right now, independents that fall below the bracket do not look up supplier infrastructure - they rob the civilian roleplayers that give this server life to a point where they are chased away. As for the CCW, just bullshit your way through it. I made up some dumb cause for every character I had a CCW on using the exact checklist they hold the cause test to. If you don’t want to waste your time with that, you can hire a lawyer that will for a faction or the price.
  9. I’ll respond in two parts. 24/7 security for your home exists in the form of an alarm. When connected (I.e. contracted) with a security company you get the best alarm. Alarms are both send to the LSPD and the security company you contracted. Either or, if not both, are almost always available. You can invest in locks that make it incredibly difficult to enter your home. Apart from that you have near endless creativity to “stash” your items within your home as you see fit, and with custom interiors comes pretty much infinite ways to conceal those places. Security contractors don’t need to be available for your person 24/7 because you don’t exist in the game 24/7. Only your property does, and there are significantly effective options available. When I had my house broken into at least 4 times a week I contracted G6 in game for CCTVs, a home alarm and patrols. The 1 breaking that occurred after resulted in arrests, and never was my home broken into again. The options exist you just have to use them. The “nonRP fear” part is so incredibly nondescript and specific to a situation that it’s not just a blanket term you can throw out. You don’t just get yelled at for pulling a gun, you (should) get yelled at for pulling a gun as a complete idiot. Panic buttons are also a service multiple companies provide, again at affordable rates since none of the packages seem outlandishly expensive. If someone complains about their realism, that’s not your problem. You live up in the hills, presumably you’re rich and targeted and you live in Los Santos. Companies put in a lot of effort installing their systems so while anyone can complain you can just continue your day as usual since you did everything right. And the general idea of compliance with a robbery makes sense, if you have a gun to your head you’re not gonna John Wick it. Leave the robbers lacking then that’s another story. If someone goes to complain in /b, stalling isn’t actually a thing so if you wanna type out your roleplay at your pace you are free to do so. If a robber pulls up you don’t just have to stand there with your dick in your hand. You’re rich, you’re a target. You have a giant house. Use your resources logically. Just because you’re rich and live up on a hill doesn’t make you special or exempt from crime IF you don’t take the steps that exist in game. Just fork over the cash for actual security otherwise what’s the point? Imagine starting an executive security company but you just loose 40 clients because a rule made half of your packaging entirely irrelevant. As for what company your hire, this is America. If your want to contract Hello Kitty Security Solutions that’s your prerogative. These companies put time and effort into installing your security system, installing your cameras, registering your property, and patrolling your property. If they respond and there are bad guys present they’ll do their best to ensure you’re safe and blow whoever’s there to kill you to kingdom come, and where security is police aren’t far behind. So even if they fail there’s always a backup. And if you get trouble with gang retaliation, well there’s a case there to be made about rules in that regard. But not a blanket magic shield for hill dwellers. Someone botching a robbery and coming back to “kill” you is dumb as shit, but this server is full of dumb people so sometimes you just have to suck it up and accept that your experience is never going to be entirely 100. As a victim you have a lot of recourse, and a lot of resources. Not to mention you have the entire law behind you. You have companies that offer almost every service you can imagine. You can even hire your own detectives if you don’t like PD and SD’s. That said. If you are the victim or a crime. Simply calling 911 isn’t actually “reporting it”. You want your crime taken in depth, let them know. Your 911 call goes to patrol, probably gets answered by patrol. And once concluded is usually forgotten. Unless you get someone from a community policing unit or a detective to pull up, ask for follow ups. If you’re smart you had your CCTV so you got something. Even if they had masks. That’s just the obvious I can think of. Work with the tools you have, you’re suppose to be this rich character right? Means you probably have some connections too. Don’t just think in the acute and throw up your hands going “I want immunity”. As for supposed “gang” roleplayers they’re usually just irrelevant day flies that don’t exist in the illegal community, just teenagers on discord doing Roblox tier roleplay. They exist no matter what and they’re entirely separate from everything and they’re own issue as is. You just gotta report those people as much as you can, nod, and move on. It’s a symptom of the game and it’s broad accessibility.
  10. You literally described Los Angeles. Either way, instead of arbitrarily placing a crime shield around you, you can contract security realistically. There are multiple companies specializing in different levels of home security. You can get panic rooms and buttons, CCTV, mobile surveillance, alarm services, priority listing and much much more. IRL the police doesn’t “patrol” the hills any more than they have to. They aren’t a PMC and barely manage as is and they often run deterrence with overwhelming responses to these areas working with security companies monitoring private property. These services aren’t even expensive and perfectly affordable. House alarms in the area already solicit this response, as do 911 calls. Physically both with how the game is and the layout the area is incredibly difficult to patrol through to begin with. And with nobody ever outside it’s not as if it’s very enticing or rewarding to drive through the same empty neighborhood with poor visibility. And also very stupid to pull over every car you see just because you know it’s a player. This is Los Santos, not the Greek resort island. Just because you’re in the hills doesn’t mean rampant crime waves don’t get to you. Arm yourself accordingly.
  11. Jokes aside I think everyone can agree that established gangs could do a whole lot better if they didn’t get pointlessly challenged every other week by a different “gang” that consists of VoIP RP stream crew #67 screaming “Ayo cuh” into discord LARPing Boondocks while ear deafening domestic violence plays out in the background recorded by their oversensitive $5 Madcatz headset from CVS
  12. “Comrade, in accordance with the solemn duty to safeguard our beloved socialist state, the People's Committee for Defense hereby mandates your conscription into party approved African-American gang #2. Report to your gang commissar immediately. Long live the proletariat!”
  13. I’ve never in all my time had an issue with profanity on either YouTube or Twitch, but if it helps you stream text roleplay maybe something like /streammode would help
  14. I'll break it down. Within the LEO com it's our collective mission to prioritize high-quality roleplay, no matter the scenario we find ourselves in. We encourage a more laid-back and immersive approach rather than constantly seeking out action-packed moments. Points like avoiding unrealistic actions, as they may disrupt the game's authenticity. Whenever there's a lull in interactions, we're expected to take initiative to create opportunities for engagement. We can do this by interacting with other players in the game or developing meaningful relationships with the characters within our own faction. The goal is to foster quality interactions and memorable experiences, rather than just chasing after arrests, pursuits, or shootouts. Building a strong and enjoyable community within the game is what truly matters. These above are some good scenes, with real bodies, that offer us roleplay and something to build on. This is none of that. This is a body someone called in that serves absolutely no purpose within the game world. You get these calls constantly. They don't create roleplay, they are not fostering interactions and the only thing you can do here is arrive on scene, /setdep DMEC, "cororner?", often get no response and just /sendtomorgue. If there was actual procedure to work through these, yeah I'd agree. Dealing with DB calls is part of your job as a cop, but these aren't treated as DB calls. These are treated by the server as an inconvenient bug. They're a utility issue. Same story; is the body a bugged duplicate or is this one actually dumped in the bushes - well who knows, because there's nothing in the script for you to figure anything out. The body's injuries aren't recorded and whatever the coroner screen tells you is pretty much irrelevant because good luck finding it among 1600 entries that are constantly shuffling it around. There's no homicide roleplay here, we can't even differentiate between a CK or a PK here. Exactly where is the roleplay for us? Your only roleplay here is to type /sendtomorgue and move on. Even a simple body call at the airport leaves you with nothing to roleplay. Woah, a body on the sidewalk. Okay cool, lemme call coroners - but wait there's a few in-game. Fantastic! However, contrary to "roleplaying" nothing here is actually meaningful. Instead of actually roleplaying a coroner and putting their effort towards a meaningful interaction they're just scooping up body #43. There's no investigative angle so for cops this is pretty much a nod and forget. All of these interactions feel stupid, unrealistic, immersion breaking and just overall take you out of the flow. I personally feel compelled to respond to these calls because I'd rather get the bodies removed so that it doesn't disrupt anyone else's roleplay, but I don't blame if other people don't want to pick these jobs up. This level of roleplay is literally just the trashman sidejob but with corpses and occasionally a corner that gives you 4 more roleplay lines. This is not "dealing with crime scenes like that irl" this is an absolute joke.
  15. Look at all the potential forensic roleplay. I can't describe how elated I am to secure the 5687th scene found in this state, secure the abundance of evidence and question all the witnesses!
  16. This is usually what happens. Running a (insert religious institution) takes immense dedication, time and requires you to be able to play the game consistently to offer a foundation for people to grow on. This usually takes months to set up (ex; the church on SAMP) and most people only last a few weeks before watering out of being outed as some roleplay degenerate. The individual groups of friends that I’ve seen so far that tried to tackle any form of faith have been multiple renditions of the Project at Eden's Gate cult. The Somalian Muslim contingencies that patrolled the city with bats, hammers and knives to kill people violating Shariah. Or Jewish players that roleplay some sort of parody of Kyle Schwartz while looking like a caricature straight out of a 1942 propaganda poster.
  17. Nervous literally said; “We're testing to keep corpses spawned between restarts to ensure that crime is properly investigated and to bring more roleplay for coroners, while also bringing more roleplay for illegals as you'll have to get rid of corpses in the water for example.” Test failed I’d say. Crime isn’t properly investigated because bodies don’t leave actionable forensic evidence. They’re just left on the streets with maybe a blood splat and no proper damages listed. We often don’t even the capacity to process the amount of corpses coming in. Coroners are overwhelmed as is and so far the only criminals I’ve seen getting “rid” of corpses are those who throw bodies in their trunk to drag off to loot later.
  18. It’s just the nature of the game and a product of facilitating that many sub communities with varied roleplay expectations. You have to assume the worst.
  19. Engage in shenanigans that are befitting of your character, simply existing in the world means you’ll eventually interact with people. Become a consistent feature and you’ll learn to know other people in that particular time/area.
