    House market

If MP no longer values anything what’s the point of having it? (I’m an idiot, not a realtor so this is lost on me) I agree, I should get more money. Unfortunately my leave of absence to explore an apprenticeship in the adult entertainment industry has been rejected, and I’m not allowed to work anywhere else. This 20-hour contract thing is a grind, and those that can enjoy this game 6-8 hours a day consistently and pull in overtime pay aren’t usually the ones complaining about this stuff. Meanwhile even if I get the full paycheck it’s abysmal. Everything keeps getting more expensive, but our pay is never corrected. IC issue? Maybe, but these amounts are always dictated OOC. I’m simultaneously expected to have a house because living underneath the overpass or in a run down RV comes with consequences when the 5’2 unemployed red haired cat banger pulls up in a $450.000 car to report me for poor portrayal.

That could definitely streamline things. However, I think we're still facing some bigger issues, like the wild markups and the overall balance in the housing market. What do you reckon we could do to tackle those aspects? I’m just left wondering what the end game is? Because while PM is turning one side of the market into a social housing system you have another side rapidly escalating with over 2000% markups and more, are we gonna pump the breaks on that? When we hit 5000% markups? I don’t see this being sustainable at all. A market is always changing, you can’t just think a fix and then let it sit there for years assuming nothing is going to change. I don’t think when people put in the sale fees with time they’d think we’d have insane markups like this

Multi-interior buildings are a nightmare to live in. I spent 160k on an apartment and another 74k on making a custom interior for it at legion square thinking it’d be a nice area only to find out it’s a revolving door of trolls, constant breakins and shootings because gangs buy up stash blocks wherever they can. And when I found out I couldn’t lock my door anymore and waited for hours with no assistance I gave up and rage-sold it back to the server after months. All of these are personal problems but it’s kept me from considering those camped teleport traps as a viable option. Landlords are horrible because they’re only applicable to top bracket people who have a shitload of time or have ways to make money to satisfy landlords from hell. People already asks thousands a week for shitty boxes akin to drug dens and offer no customization options or meaningful roleplay apart from showing up once a week like loan sharks, and fuck you if you’re not online when they are because you’ll log in after a week and find all your stuff gone and you without an address again. And PM wants you to file convoluted unique applications for specific addresses instead of just having an open application for housing allocation, and even then you’re constrained to restrictions. I was very happy with my PM trailer out in the sticks but the second my char moved employment to the city I had to hand over the keys because you’re required to live next to your work for some reason. @mj2002 since it’s such a magical and fun experience for you, why don’t you start a company offering that service. I’d gladly pay you 👀

This too is funny to me. I’ve never organically found a property on this server. The only way I can get a home is through friends, back door discord and once a trailer thanks to an admin’s favor. /checkowner has never gotten me anything other than getting shot and robbed and get a list of nothing to go fuck myself with. What happened to the idea of mapping new living areas or having a housing list to be divided based on applications? They try so hard to hide house availability from you and destroy map and search functionality in favor of a free for all journey through the entire map for a handful of options people can apply for with no transparency.

This line of thinking is always funny to me. Sure, I get that real-life property prices in major cities can be insane. But in our in-game world, the economy and earning potential are different. A 1.5 million in-game house might reflect real-world prices, but let's not forget we're earning $4,000 an hour here for 4 hours max if you’re a civilian, not working a 9-to-5 job. Civies enjoy the entire illegal and legal market to make their money. I need to rely on a paycheck that requires a 20-hour government contract that (in my opinion) is absolutely unreasonable. Not to mention the discrepancy between the rising in-game expenses and the stagnation of (among other things) government paychecks. Meanwhile I am expected to own a home, meet incompatible requirements for the home. I need to pay for it using money I don’t have, I’m not allowed to earn money on the side so I can afford it. I’m not allowed to live in the county where things are affordable because people consider it “unrealistic”. It's about finding a balance that makes the game enjoyable for everyone. This is trash.

This ^, also whatever happened to keeping the field fair and accessible. What’s wrong with a system that caps the percentage markup allowed during auctions, preventing exorbitant prices? Why not Introduce rewards or bonuses for players who set more realistic prices, encouraging a fairer housing market? And don’t get me started on mortgages. Yes, fantastic. But it’s a glorified landlord system run by staff and in the end you always loose your house. If you’re graced by the opportunity to even get something, what happens if you have fluctuating activity? What’s wrong about not wanting to be dependent on someone you don’t even know dictating how you play the game? Not everyone is a drug dealer or a business owner, and not everyone has a job that pays 40k a night. Everything in the server keeps getting more expensive, but nobody ever increases the pay we get assuming you can fill up the 20 hours a week to get a full paycheck. So not only doesn’t it scale up, you’ll also get docked. Sick.

"2-3 years, it is what it is"? Come on, that's like saying my car's been on blocks for ages, might as well walk. Nah, let's rev this up! Just get me a couple hundred thousand and we’ll get this all sorted out 🙂

Property Management have always been unbelievably helpful where they can, but even they have limits. Their request board is almost always closed, and the times I’ve tried you could only ever request property that’s not in use. That, or you have to go through convoluted bureaucracy or discord politics to figure out who’s sitting on an inactive or master account’ed property. Even then the prices aren’t always compatible and you always risk loosing everything if you have a busy period at work or when people feel like it. I’ve never fully trusted staff members since I had property unjustly deleted from my account to be resold for profit by someone else only to be told “haha sorry” and waiting 19 months for compensation. If you need even more cases proving that our system is broken beyond reasonableness; here’s one with a 1775% markup

So while I’m taking a shit I make the horrible mistake to check the forums. And then I spot this auction fresh off the press: I’m writing this as a horde of family members are desperately banging on the bathroom to relieve themselves from Christmas food poisoning. But this is obvious a priority. This is a 837.5% markup for an “exclusive” house, but what’s so exclusive about it? The disgusting Shrek green paint is chipping off onto the barely kept together salt corroded staircase leading up to the 1.5 million dollar wooden shack with 54k furniture. Even if it came with a private platoon of resident skinheads for personal protection I don’t see this ever making sense. The market is fucked, spending over a year of saving and I still can’t get a house in this housing crisis simulator. I have an easier time finding a house in real life, and it’s ridiculous. I can’t imagine this being the intention of the housing market or the “restrictions” they put on it. I shouldn’t have to troll casinos and poker games exploits to be eligible for reasonable housing that isn’t a motel room or a 800 thousand dollar apartment. Why won’t the rich give me money! (nothing personal to @parkin lot pimpin homie is just hustling the market)
  10. Just delete the server, that way everyone wins.
  11. Nothing like patrolling the cold dark streets of Los Santos while its snowing. Your radio goes off; shots fired Davis LTD. You’re not far, and an officer needs help. You arrive on scene, there’s blood everywhere. Sirens echo all around as more people show up. The street is bloodied and you see several bodies laid out. You move in to secure the scene with your partner, unsure if the shooters are still there. Then it hits you; a fucking snowball to the face. Then another, and another. You’re now being peppered by angry locals. New objective: SURVIVE. Snowballs are based, I wish they’d keep the snow longer and give people more snowballs.
  12. The few ruin it for the many, a cheesy saying that rings true on these topics every time. Since its inception GTA W has been plagued by individual groups of raunchy teens that get on together to form small gangs. They’re often inspired by YouTube, and often from communities like Roblox, Fortnite and Rust to emulate VoIPRP shenanigans. These people infest the “gang/illegal” roleplay side because it’s easily accessible. Unlike government and most legal factions you don’t need a process to join anything. And you don’t need to join an established gang or crew who maintains a standard to be part of the criminal scene. These groups of 4-7 players will get on, form a gang (because they can) and for a period of 2-4 weeks, which is about the time it takes for them to get banned, wreak havoc on anyone unlucky enough to get in their way. The only way for these groups to get anything is through robbery and PF abuse, whatever it takes to get firearms and perpetuate their trash roleplay. Instead of tackling this, GTA W decides to apply restriction upon restriction for people that don’t even bother logging onto the forum or play by the rules.
  13. Lessen illegal firearms restrictions
  14. A detailed backstory serves as a guide for consistent character behavior, helping to shape their responses and decisions. Without this foundation, improvisation may result in actions or dialogue that feels disjointed or out of character. It's akin to navigating a story without a map – you might end up in interesting places, but the journey lacks coherence and purpose. Effective character development often benefits from a balance of both planned backstory and dynamic improvisation.
  15. I can’t think of a time I haven’t honored a void or dismissal, nearly always without administrative intervention. These range from car crashes to things people did or have on them. I’m not going to wait 45 minutes on an admin to spend 10 minutes asking me 200 questions and another 30 minutes while they have a meeting with other admins to figure out if they want to void something. I also don’t much care for people’s whining. I roleplay here for fun, not to babysit someone else’s tantrum. I’ve left scenario’s outright the second I sniff a hint of OOC attitude. It’s simple for me, roleplay has to be fun both ways. If something doesn’t interest someone I’m not going to force them into it. If someone begins to kick and scream and trash roleplay because they don’t want to go to jail, that’s fine by me. I’m not going to waste my time dragging them through everything only to put them in a closed environment (jail/prison) where they’ll just begin bothering other people. It’s exhausting how often people come up with drama. I personally don’t care much about dealing with people OOC, legal factions are a headache as it is with people who think they can cross IC-OOC lines. I don’t need others to do the same. That said, it’s not my job to report everyone and everything, it doesn’t interest me and has consistently proven to be an absolute pointless waste of time. It can literally take up hours if not your entire game session, and often they’ll just tell you to take it to the forums thus stretching it out weeks or months. No, simple going “okay bye” and spending that same time finding and roleplaying with someone who is interested, engaged and contributing is far more rewarding for me and the people around me.
  16. If your focus is to punish people and to deter players from roleplaying criminals then I’d say that’s a pretty bad attitude to have as a LEO roleplayer. I’d assume you enjoy roleplaying a detective for the simple fact that you enjoy it, not because you wanna put people away for life. That’s just my feel for it though, I’m not bothered at all by repeat offenders but then again I hardly notice it if I’m being honest. Most people CK or get a life sentence for something else anyway at some point.
  17. The simplest excuse is that it's good business
  18. I don’t know if the framework exists for it since (as I understand it) FB has some pretty steep maintenance costs, but it’d be cool if NSFW stuff had their own dedicated platforms. Kinda like how AdmireMe kept most of the whoring off the main feed. And yes I know it’s optional to see the main feed, but it didn’t feel so on the nose before. Seems like every other post is a cashapp titty donation round
  19. If that’s all true that really sucks for everyone involved. We have about 15 years of historic proof to make a point that administration by proxy just doesn’t work and always leads to this type of drama. I had no idea though, my interaction with eme and their proxies have always been IC and then they kind of just fizzled out and disappeared off radar. Makes you think how many more people dropped their projects or fully isolated themselves from the rest. Sometimes I feel like all we really have are a handful of ”factions” alongside the odd group of friends who start a faction for a week or two.
