  1. Yikes, must all of your posts be quite so abrasive? Can we not let people speculate? The new artwork seems to show a pontoon-less Sparrow helicopter so here’s to hoping that will get added to the server soon!
  2. I really hope the island is diverse enough to allow for both legal and illegal roleplay. We could have charter flights, boat tours, farming, fishing trips, hotels, drug smuggling, a local community, a small Sheriff’s outpost (or something) and so on. Of course we haven’t seen the whole place yet but I’m keeping my fingers crossed that R* hasn’t just created a fortified cartel island. Like another poster said, I think this is one of the most interesting additions to GTA V since its launch.
  3. Just a quick FYI for anyone still following this: vehicle requests on the UCP have started being accepted, meaning you can pay a monthly fee for aircraft rather than buying outright. They can be for personal use, too, provided you have good IC and OOC reasoning.

    GTA:W Wiki

I had something similar happen during a robbery. Two masked guys came to me demanding my phone, which I RP’d, but for the life of me I couldn’t work out how to hand it over. I was trying /inv, /dropitem etc. I asked for help in /b and was told “Dude just drop it from your inventory! Stop stalling!”. In the end the cops showed up (turns out the two guys had attempted the robbery on someone in the same place beforehand)... cue much insult directed at me through PMs. I was fully expecting a forum report from them, all because I didn’t know to hit ‘i’ to open the inventory! On that basis I’d definitely support a more comprehensive guide to commands!
  5. Support! I’ve been having similar thoughts recently. Some other suggestions: More mechanic garages in Blaine County. It may be due to my time zone but I’ve never seen one open. The addition of a second trucker depot (e.g. in Paleto). I’d recommend restricting this to perhaps the more senior trucker roles to reflect the vehicles you’d expect to see see driving on the highways: Mule/Benson/Pounder. An option to spawn in Sandy or Paleto - I’m sure there are bus stops which would be suitable. I’m hoping that the upcoming farming script/job (recent dev blog) will open up more opportunities for county RP.
  6. So true! Older fella + interesting backstory + living in Blaine County has been really enjoyable to RP lately.
  7. I like this idea a lot. I also agree with Switch about the sorting hub. There is in fact a GoPostal warehouse at Los Santos International Airport which could work quite well. For players with a pilot’s license, the job could also include deliveries by air using, for example, a Cuban 800 to take mail to Fort Zancudo, Sandy Shores and Grapeseed airfields. These could also be added as pickup points for the van/moped drivers to deliver to/from.
  8. Short description: Display altitude when in an aircraft. Detailed description: Add an altitude read-out (in feet) close to where vehicle speed is displayed. This will allow players to fly accurately without needing to use first person view, or to have to continually switch between first and third person view. Commands to add: N/A Items to add: N/A How would your suggestion improve the server? Aviation RP has really taken off recently (pardon the pun). At the flying school we have been asking students to climb and descend and perform manoeuvres while maintaining altitude. Essentially, this means that the student needs to use first person view to regularly check the altimeter. First person flying in GTA is, to be honest, a bit poopy; this suggestion gives players a choice whether or not to use it. Additional information: Thanks for considering!
  9. Apologies for the thread resurrection! The ongoing discussions about the economy, scripted jobs and grinding led me here... With the player base growing and more people choosing to roleplay out in Blaine County, I think it would be great to see some kind of farm RP. The creation of a food supply chain could lead to so much more roleplay for shop owners, truckers, restauranteers and others who wish to work legally. We would need farmers to work the land. These farmers would need tractors and trucks which could be sold at player owned industrial vehicle dealerships. Heck, the land might even need to be sprayed with pesticides. We have cropdusters on the server -> people need pilot’s licences to fly them -> player-run flight schools like Blaine Aviation get more business. The fishing job has (rightfully) attracted criticism recently because it is little more than a way to grind money. Players line up on a beach and use all manner of vehicles to transport duffelbags of fish to a nondescript warehouse. Let’s instead have player-run fisheries where people are sent out in boats. Let’s allow people to transport and sell their catch to restaurants! I’ve no doubt the developers have bigger fish to fry at the moment (dad pun) but I really enjoy the server and believe there is so much potential to give everything more of a purpose: boats, trucks, planes, shops and so on. Wishful thinking? Perhaps!
  10. Someone earlier in this thread mentioned that mechanics shouldn’t be driving $130k cars. Unfortunately a minority of the vehicles on the server aren’t priced realistically, at least in my view. Where I live, two of the most popular cars for mechanics are the Vauxhall Corsa (Maxwell Asbo) and the mk1 Mazda MX5/Miata/Eunos (Annis Kawaii). They are popular because they are cheap and easy to work on - ergo, they are ideal for a junior mechanic. And yet on the server a Kawaii is $114k, nearly five times more expensive than the Asbo! The following is written in the Economy Features Showcase: ”GTAW's economy self defined a price to each items based on their value, not on their real life price. It took the choice to keep the houses / vehicles market at a 1:1 price compared to US$, but everything else is adjusted to fit our players' income. We did not want players to have to play years and take mortgage that they would never refund to purchase homes and vehicles” It’s no secret that I disagree with aircraft prices on the server, but I really think that if the paychecks are to remain as they are then a review of all dealership prices is required. Otherwise, we end up in a position where people would rather grind for assets than engage in roleplay. Final note on the topic of fishing: there’s a fishing overhaul suggestion thread in this same sub-forum with a few ideas on how this could be better incorporated in to the economy. E.g. the use of boats to roleplay fishing trips out to sea, having player-run stores to sell fish at, taking fish directly to restaurants for players to cook and buy etc.
  11. Forgive me if it sounded like I’m asking for free money - that wasn’t my intention. I’m appealing for certain assets to be more realistically priced. Cessnas are by no means only for wealthy business types - private jets, sure, but not little light aircraft. I take your point about buying an aircraft being a meaningful goal. However, some of us are roleplaying older (retired) characters who have already had successful careers and who would already be in a decent financial situation. Perhaps understandably the server doesn’t necessarily cater for this because it might lead to abuse. I think it’s somewhat unfair of you to say “you still have to realize that you're here to roleplay”. I understand that completely, which is exactly why I’m trying to make aircraft more affordable so that people who want to be involved in aviation roleplay can be!
  12. For those in the government factions this is probably the case. But for those of us for whose characters wouldn’t suit PD/SD/FD I’d say its the opposite. The $200k starter bonus is a good way to get an average car and house - but then what? I’d really like to get a pilot’s licence and a Cessna. With the current server prices this would cost $1.3 million-ish. It’s simply unachievable with a £500 hourly pay check and, like eTaylor says, I really don’t want to have to fish/shop keep/truck for hundreds of hours when there is so much untapped RP potential out there.
  13. It could work in a similar way to /startshift at the convenience stores. For example, if a controller is online then a green tower icon appears at the airport. If no controllers are online then pilots make the “Sandy traffic...” or “County traffic...” radio calls as they do currently. Access to the /atc chat to authorised people on the ground would be great; at the moment some of the aviation RPers are using a /r frequency which is OK but the tower controller is obviously missing out on most of the radio calls! Maybe we should start an aviation suggestion megathread as we’ve drifted from aircraft and licence prices quite a bit? ?
  14. ATC laws are a good idea but I would hate for them to put people off wanting to get involved with aviation RP. If necessary, maybe they could be fairly straight forward, e.g.: No flying without a license No flying over a built-up area at less than 500 ft unless taking off or landing Radio calls over Los Santos are mandatory (controlled airspace) Radio calls elsewhere are recommended (uncontrolled airspace) and so on. Just a thought!
