  1. Y'all need to get a grip. I grew up in a town of 500 people. Predominantly white. Even the most brazen, Confederate flag loving piece of shit meth head Redneck I can think of wasn't a blatant racist. They hid their racism, if it was there, behind dog whistles and shitty opinions - or just hid it entirely, because people would ostracize them if they didn't. In my town, racist was one of the worst things you could be - because we were very heavily integrated with another nearby town that was predominantly black. Believe it or not, in the real world, which we're supposed to be trying to emulate, people have better things to do that do drugs and commit crimes all day in small towns. That isn't small town life. I know this server overall lacks an imagination and gets bored easily doing anything that isn't gang life roleplay. In that vein, when it comes to criminal activity, white kids growing up in small towns don't form white supremacist skinhead groups, if they form a gang at all. In fact, they try to EMULATE black culture more often than not, as I saw in many of my peers. All that's to say is that there's plenty of avenues to roleplay in small towns that aren't just... racist white gang. Racist white gangs would be dismantled by the Feds within a couple hate crimes or so. It all needs to be toned down for realism's sake. Let other roleplay develop out there - especially if the main gatekeep has been racist characters, lol.
  2. I think there's too much confusion about how intersections work. It used to be every intersection with a light was treated as a four way stop. Now, it's kinda the same, but you don't have to stop, you can just... Roll through them "under 15 MPH." However, in both of these situations, I don't think the majority of people are even OOCly aware that they do in fact need to respect the intersections, which leads to all those cars just flying through them, and not yielding to people who're already at the intersection. My concern with this is that this is an OOC issue. These rules are stated OOCly in the Penal Code, which most people don't read, because of the traffic light sync issues; which makes it difficult for LEOs to enforce ICly. I mean, we shouldn't have to go into /b on every traffic stop. I don't want to enforce OOC rules. I'm personally sick of it, especially some of the OOC arguments it's caused, and have thus stopped doing traffic stops for that infraction altogether. What makes this matter worse, is I'm pretty sure the traffic lights are mostly synced, and have been for years. I've literally seen newer players sit stopped at red lights for the entire cycle. So I think it's worth the risk to just start taking them ICly again. Either way, fix the way the server handles intersections, and you'll fix the vast majority of people's problems with the driving.
  3. Sure, the PK and CK rules are muddy and lend themselves to unrealism, mostly because of the sheer amount of PKs people simply walk away from and don't really roleplay / have impact their roleplay at all. However, this just how GTA RP is. The rules shouldn't be further contrived to hurt an already struggling police investigation roleplay niche. -1.
  4. I too believe ERP is a sin. I, however, did not smoke whatever the fuck you were smoking right before you posted this.
  5. Username: suasponte1983 Comment: Fucking guys can't even respond to an e-mail? Whats worse one of them wants to represent me. This Baker guy ain't gonna have my vote, that's for sure. Dude mustve forgot the assignment until it was too late, and now showing up in these comments lookin like a high n mighty dildo.
  6. Wow, this topic sure has derailed since I last checked it. Went about the way I thought it would. People who have no idea what realism is are complaining that the police should just stay away from... high crime areas? For realism? Right. I was going to write this long diatribe about this, but decided it's really not worth the effort. Even though the original suggestion has nothing to do with this, I agree, let's ban LEOs from South Central - then I, personally, never have to go down there again to backup Goober McCopface who decides to stop Goober McGangbang and watch while they argue in /b about the Glock 21 that Goober McGangbang has stowed in the pocket dimension in his right sock, all the while Goober McCopface is too incensed to let it go so we can move onto some actually interesting roleplay. OP, I liked your initial idea after you convinced me. The rest of these trolls truly show us why it probably shouldn't even be touched, though. There are too many Goober McGangbangs out there.
  7. I can agree with some clarifications about when it might be okay, specifically with some of the examples that've been brought up already. I'd specifically like it clarified that, yes, a group of 13 people can team up to beat up one cop if they so choose in that brawl scenario. The only thing I worry about there now that I thought about it some more, though, is that, the LEO would likely perceive that as a deadly threat and might shoot someone, which turns into more shooting... But, we can leave the specifics to the admins. I can agree to some further clarification if it's confusing even the admins, though.
  8. The rule doesn't protect LEOs from the consequences of their own actions in regards to some of the things you said. The only one that would sort of protect them is the traffic stop scenario because it's the most blatantly law enforcement related, and least likely to lead to serious consequences for anyone unless someone's stupid. It doesn't need to be escalated into a killing just because you can. Even in the situation that the driver or passengers are asked to step out of the vehicle for an obvious pat-down and someone is armed, those characters can just run for it, in the car or otherwise. Or, they can stay for the roleplay. It doesn't always have to just resort to killing... But, also, in that regard, if the LEO is dumb enough to do that without getting someone else there to help them, then there's obviously prime opportunity for an escape or worse. Cops are still shot plenty for things like that, and I don't think anyone would find it reportable in that specific scenario, except maybe the LEO if they're upset. An admin would likely trash it, though. I've seen it happen countless times. LEOs who put themselves in bad situations are to blame for their own actions, particularly if they don't even call for help. Moving on, obviously, if a LEO is coming after your character for killing someone during a shootout, you can shoot them. Anyone can. It's not even worth mentioning the shootout is in a gang neighborhood, because they almost all are. There's also nothing stopping a group from teaming up to beat a LEO down in the case of this random brawl situation you're talking about. The rule says you can't kill them for no reason - not that you can't jump them for being dumb enough to break things up on their own, and get out of their car while doing so. Just keep in mind that, as with any situation, killing should be the last resort. The rule doesn't need to be amended. Everyone should just use common sense. If a LEO is doing something to specifically target your character in the fashion you seem to be worried about, they can be hurt or even killed in-line with the overall deathmatching rule. Calling someone a CI in front of their fellow gang members would lead to serious consequences, just not from the police - the rule already gives you some leeway to determine what "serious consequences" means for your character, after all. Any gang member worth their salt would try to go after that cop, and would be justified in doing so. The rule is there, specifically, to protect against the first resort to a traffic stop or a pedestrian stop being to just pull out a gun and shoot whoever's stopping them. Even with the rule in place, this still happens - so I can't think any LEO is not somewhat aware that they could be shot at at any time.
  9. +1, limiting the amount of fully-auto weapons that can be used in a drive-by will be a good solution to a long-term problem that's been plaguing this server: power creep, and the high amount of full-auto weapons that're in the server already. Very disproportionate to the real-life ratio of full-auto vs. other firing modes.
  10. Like the stereotypes, don't see how the political compass applies to some of them. The funniest to me are the FM ones and the ERP Fiend one. Overall, a solid 7/10 meme that inspires brevity in the otherwise sad, nihilistic wasteland of GTA:W, thank you.
  11. You're giving the types of people who come on the server and want it to be GTAO too much credit. They typically don't WANT to do better. They want lighter roleplay, and have facilitated that in this server, since they get away with it with either slaps on the wrist, or no punishment at all since the majority of that tier of roleplay isn't technically punishable even on a "heavy RP" server.
  12. Why did this topic become almost strictly about LEO factions when the server's main problems all have to do with the abysmal roleplay quality and the in-general unrealistic roleplay that's so prevalent, all around? Before looking into the niches of roleplay and how certain factions operate, perhaps we should try to fix... everything else, first? Starting with more sure and harsher punishments for the people who care nothing about realistic roleplay, and are more or less just playing GTA:O but with extra steps?
  13. I don't even know what to say except no. -1.
  14. Allowing something like this for the general public on a roleplaying server has always been questionable. Allowing it for approved news factions seems like a no-brainer, however. +1.
  15. Roland Marshall according to Midjourney.
  16. Look, if people are acting in weird, unrealistic ways on alts and one of their factions find out about it, then they should be able to take action. This all boils down to the fact, though, that most factions don't care what you do for the most part, especially on alts - as long as it doesn't start breaking OOC rules, or seem unrealistic / unacceptable to faction leadership. Now, back to the topic at hand... I've found that the number of people on the server who can just roleplay and go with the flow is much too small. There for sure is a lot of "bleeding" as you call it. People very rarely can take a step back and just... write, at least on this server. That's not the appeal of GTA:W, unfortunately. It's broadened its appeal to the masses by being very lax on its enforcement of the rules and on the quality of the players, and so we're left with a very poor overall roleplay quality. If you want good roleplay, insulate yourself into a good faction or group of players / friends who you trust, because the vast majority of this server aren't here to play characters or roleplay realistically, they're here to live their fantasies. It's a shame, but it is what it is. Clearly nothing is ever going to change in that regard on this server at this point, so deep into its lifespan, so the majority of those you roleplay with outside of that insular group are going to be... not fun to interact with.

    The Corpse Problem

You misunderstand. It isn't just "boring." If it was just "boring," it'd get done. The problem is it's tedious. Busy work. Not to mention, it's nearly impossible to roleplay realistically. And when there's dozens and dozens of similar calls a day, people stop wanting to tie themselves up with the same tedious busy work, and instead want to look for things where they can actually, you know, roleplay and have fun on this server with their likely limited free time. Shouldn't be expecting anyone to interact with tedious, unfun systems like this. The corpses never should've become permanent without some thought put into what happens if they aren't moved or picked up within a certain timeframe.

    The Corpse Problem

The Scrolls foretold of a prophecy... that if the corpses ever became permanent in the World, then so would the community raise their voice in protest and shout "what the hell, did no one think this through? did they forget our complaints a few months ago about no one responding to dead body calls already?" Then again, you don't need an Elder Scroll to have seen this coming. Pretty sure even Stevie Wonder would've seen this coming.
  19. Silly suggestion to make in the rules section, and seems more like an angry, somewhat delusional rant than anything, especially having read some of your other replies. (You remember when FLD wasn't a "faction?" You remember that things were better when they didn't exist? Really? I guess I do too, since they never have been a faction, but they've been a division of the LSPD for... ever. Not sure why you thought such a blatant lie would help your suggestion / argument?) Not everything will always go your way, nor is any other person who plays on the server supposed to wait hand and foot in making your virtual firearms license applications any quicker. I'm sure there are dozens of other people who are applying at the same time, at any given time. Automating the process is just silly in regards to how easy it would be to abuse, and removes a function of roleplay from other people. So -1.
  20. This isn't going to bring more roleplay to anyone working at a gas station. Just like in real life, people will drive for extra miles just to avoid going to a full service gas station. Mark my words.
