    Minor CAD Update

I think it's pretty good as it is now to be honest. Doesn't need to be suuuper overcomplicated. In my brain this suggestion isn't too extensive (if I'm wrong code-wise then fair enough)

    Minor CAD Update

Detailed Description I would like the ability to have a 'CLOSED CAD' box on /PCAD and a 'OUTCOME' text box under each 911 call on the cad system, alongside the ability to 'close' a CAD and remove it from the list (put into an archive) once closed. For instance, I attend a 911 call about a burglary. I attend, no suspects on scene but items have been stolen from the house. Instead of taking up radio time, I would update the cad with ''AREA SEARCH, NO TRACE. BURGLARY REPORT TO GO ON BY DEPUTY ARROYO. CAD CAN BE CLOSED.'' and it will be put on the 'Closed' list — this allows supervisors to clarify and double check that a call has been handled correctly when a Deputy closes it. Relevant Commands/Items No need for additional command, just add an 'Outcome' button which opens up a small text box and a 'Closed' list when someone closes off a call. How will it benefit the server? Removes less radio chatter and spam from your screen. Allows supervisors in-game to see the outcome of certain calls when assigning people to handle them. Holds cops more accountable for ensuring work is done properly from an IC basis.
  4. LS County Sheriffs @LSSDHQ · May 22 #LSSD The Los Santos County Sheriff Department are offering a $150,000 reward for information that leads to the apprehension of Marco Pena, an ex-department employee who has failed to appear with a warrant out for his arrest.
  5. We've received real-time intel of Marco 'Manslaughter' Pena's whereabouts:
  6. Sometimes I sit here and I ponder if anyone could do it better, if anyone could provide the quality of what we give to this community... and then I remind myself that it's physically impossible 💕
  7. I've sat on making this suggestion for awhile, and thought I'd let the rule change trial and see how I felt about it a little later on — however my opinion hasn't changed. I think this addition to the rules is incredibly detrimental to the illegal faction player-base. I've discussed this rule change with an incredible amount of members within my legal faction (LSSD) to gauge their response, thoughts and feelings to which every single one of them have expressed distaste with this rule. I don't think this is a good change to the rules, I think we are choking the already small illegal player-base we have here which will ultimately create an even bigger divide — something that no one in any legal (or illegal) faction truly wants. We want these criminal role players to act in what they feel is the best course of action, to not restrict them and make them consider fifty different options to not break a rule, it's an unhealthy course we're going in which drains the fun out of what we're trying to do here. I speak for a lot of legal faction role-players when I say that this rule is not one which many like and it's incredibly daunting to me that this was approved because I for one already fear about the criminal side of this server being incredibly distant and lack-lustre, these restrictions just push illegal role-players further. If an individual wants to shoot their way out of a bad situation, who are we to say that's not OK? There's a difference in an active, adrenaline-filled choice and an out-right power gaming rule breaker. We're all able to differentiate I'd say, and from a legal side - I don't like this rule and a lot of other law enforcement role-players do not either. Edit: I'd like to get a healthy conversation going between the pros and cons, if the rules do in-fact need changing and if so, how can we improve? I don't think a blanket rule like this is acceptable. We aren't here to police the server, and I feel that subconsciously this just automatically lets us win most situations now.
  8. The problem this type of script has is that it's limited in the way we identify people from the get-go. There's no 'new' system or way around this because since the dawn of time we've had this problem. There's only a small amount of techniques we can use to make this system viable, some more preferred than others. 1. Showing names and allowing players to 'recognize' people via what they're wearing (If people change clothes this would work in their favour, but then again takes thought and consideration by the player themselves). If we could describe three types of clothing used by the suspect, they could then use something along the lines of *Description of Mark Garcia* at the end, it just provides context and some substance behind a recognizing face. 2. I don't know if just a clothing description would work here — think about the viability of that long-term and how many people just change their outfits in a matter of seconds, this would result to 99.9% of situations just becoming void because everyone will know that CCTV have the deciding factor of clothes, it would be subconsciously metagamed whether we like it or not. 3. IDs should be shown due to the issue with character faces here. If we could identify people with just their faces for being distinctive, I've endorse that approach but because 99.9% of people use a similar face, this just wouldn't be able to work at all. We can't live and die by the 'What ifs' or the buts and maybes. We need to put trust in the player and let them ultimately work around the system themselves — of course sometimes it's like letting children run around a room filled with toys, but there has to be some type of trust to make a system like this work. We can't let the minority ruin it for the majority though, we need to incorporate some form of self-regulation otherwise we'll have negative long wait-times, role-play gets boring and then nobody will ultimately bother with the CCTV system due to having to wait.
  9. Completely agree. The less micro-management, the better. We need to be able to conduct this ourselves (with moderation, logging etc) but to wait on people is a long-term issue that's always provided negative outcomes.
  10. I'm appreciative that there's a lot of legal role-players participating in this thread about air units (myself included) but there's a subconscious bias in us that we need to be aware of. Air units are great, but the player using them needs to be conscious of the effect they have. I'd argue AIR is the most powerful tool in law enforcement factions here, we need to ensure there's fairness with the criminal role players — they're an automatic loss as it is, we don't need to hunt and prey for every gun under the sun. Pro-activity in this game comes at a cost, especially with air units. I don't agree that AIR should be severely limited, but I do think re-affirming the importance of discretion and allowing criminals to get away with things at certain times is of great benefit to us as a community.
  11. There's a lot of misinformation and speculation within this thread. I can understand the general consensus around the AIR units — it is honestly such a powerful tool within legal factions but it's hard to manage and 'police' so to say. Helicopters can see the majority of everything (from a game perspective) but that doesn't mean the players within those AIR units should (for the sake of fairness) role-play seeing everything. There's an awkward line in-between that sometimes does border the boundary of unfairness, but then strays on the line of staying within the game rules. AIR is great for a multitude of reasons, but can negatively affect the majority of the player base for other reasons. Ultimately, the impact of the AIR unit depends on the flyer themselves and if they want to role-playing seeing what they see or let the person go. Vash Baldeus, you have recently had the tendency to just type things without having any actual information to back your points up. Spreading disinformation like how you are causes unnecessary headache and frustration, something which ultimately won't end well for any party. You obviously have a negative impression towards the faction, it's apparent in your tone and lack of substantial claims. Joe summed it up. The LSSD has a fantastic sifting process on recruitment, and then a rigorous monitoring and executive staff team leading the faction. Legal factions (every single one) need to be accepting of newer players and difference in quality. There's people who are joining with no prior legal and or role-play experience — we must be the pioneers to teach people and correct their mistakes. People do (sometimes) act out of rules and regulations to which are then handled internally via our rigorous executive staff team but I understand you have absolutely zero understanding or knowledge about it, because you're not in one. Liq's point on corruption is some-what accurate. I think corruption (at certain times) is over-exaggerated and exacerbated to a point where it borders on the bridge of a movie-like character. This, by nature of allowing individuals the freedom to role-play a character can never just 'change' or 'stop' as we allow rigidness and creativity. I think the important part of internal regulation of corruption is the context of why characters become corrupt because seeing a screenshot of a concerning corrupt-esq scene can look silly and unrealistic. Every faction has had people that stray from the 'norm' and go over the top — it's human nature and this just takes regulation. We aren't here to police people, we're here to make sure they're providing a fun, realistic and fair experience to the community. The initial poster's concern about the skipping of a bond is completely understandable and from first look (without any consideration) is concerning. Legal factions when cooperating with illegal players have always had this awkward divide because to make crime feel impactful, we must provide a deterrence and feeling of sub-punishment when a crime or restriction is broken because without it there's no substance in a character (who commits these crimes) to develop or come to the understanding and importance of how a legal faction needs to respond. The bond prices are quite high and yes that is a realistic amount, I'd agree with the poster and say it'd be best if the prices were revised to a slightly lower amount. (Albeit the JSA have already stated it was accidental, so probably null now) I do think it should be high, but not in the millions. But it is imperative that we all feel impacted by breaking a law from an in-character perspective, otherwise there's no weight or substance to anyone's actions.

  13. I don't think creating an entire new faction for the county is feasible. The county role-play is sporadic and a lot of people (within the county) don't see others because others don't come to the county because they assume nobody is out there. Sandy Shores is an incredibly active area and has been for around two months. There's people role-playing motorhomes, crackheads, trailer trash and more. The Sheriff's Department do role-play within the county, but the SAPR have unfortunately (with the hunting script issues) resulted to an obsolete, awkward paradigm where they're not much basis for their existence. The SAPR are a nice compliment to have in the county and aids us (the LSSD) in providing role-play to the community. Removing the paint and then just changing the colour won't solve this issue though.
