  3. Austin Harvey is a 38 year old Caucasian man from Las Vegas, he has recently moved to Sandy Shores in an attempt to get closer to family members living in Los Santos who have broken off contact with him because of his past involvement in criminal activities. In his head, he thinks that his past was nullified when he stopped doing what he was doing, and he firmly believes that they will forgive and forget. Realistically this is never going to happen. In his past life, Austin was a well-known counterfeiter in Las Vegas, specialising in providing fake ID for underage gamblers in the city of sin. While creating fake driving licenses and identification cards was by far his most lucrative industry, he also maintained a regular side hustle creating counterfeit prescription slips for people online in states where marijuana is restricted to prescription holders. Austin spent around 5 years doing this actively before he discovered several of his counterfeits had been confiscated in a bar owned a former police officer. Several his younger, foreign customers had attempted to use them to drink in a bar that was known in the area to be frequented by local police officers off duty. In fear of the potential repercussions of his actions, Austin fled the state to prevent any investigation that stemmed from a previous customer providing his falsified name and the location he favoured for picking up money. Unfortunately, he had just invested the main bulk of his profits on new equipment that he had no hope of concealing in his car during his evacuation of Las Vegas, so he collected up what money he could and destroyed the various printers, and computers that were used in the act of forgery. Austin envisions a better life for himself in Sandy Shores, even though he only has a a sum of unlaundered money stashed in his car, and a second-hand Karin Dilittante to his name. He intends to stick to using his real name and stay away from nefarious types as he settles down and hopefully finds a full-time job. He is currently living out of his car which can typically be found parked up near the abandoned, dilapidated motel structure with some blankets and a cushion in the back seat. He currently only has one set of clothes so it’s easy enough to spot him as he always looks the same, just gradually filthier as he gets back on his feet to be able to justify buying more clothes, or find a laundrette. While he does not intend to get back into forgery, it is his only marketable skill so unless he finds suitable employment it is entirely possible that he could end up back in that trade.

  5. It appears that we agree to disagree on this one. Developing a realistic character, with a realistic personality, realistic flaws, strong points, and the whole nine yards, as well as realistic ‘progression’ are, and have been the core of servers of this type. Most of the above are quite literally requirements someone has to meet when providing a character story that’s used to determine if they’re fit to play on the server. Of course, socializing and day-to-day life play into that. “ Whether we like it or not we are roleplaying in a fantasy world, where death means nothing, people don't age… “ — Unfortunately, this is something that I have to disagree with, as well. Deaths can, and, especially within the circles that value realistic portrayal & development do mean something. As for character’s 'aging', it’s one of the ‘core’ things when it comes to realistic character portrayal. No one would like to see a thirteen-year-old shotcaller, a sixteen-year-old self-made kid from a lower class family, running a major business consulting company, a twenty-five year old captain in a law enforcement faction, and so on, and so forth. And, it translates to ‘civilian’ characters, as well. There are some things that simply can’t be achieved in a matter of days/weeks, the way they are here (i.e. opening a club, getting a degree, going from merely liking each other to getting married, et cetera — all the things that are pretty ‘popular’ among those portraying so-called SecondLife-esque characters). e: Before anyone assumes that I'm making fun of everyone who decides to run a business or roleplay a relationship - I'm not. I'm merely pointing out that we do have a number of players who do so in a less-than-realistic way, but, that doesn't reflect all. There are some very interesting business(wo)men/businesses on the server, well thought-out, immersive, and enjoyable to roleplay with/around. “ Really visit downtown, pre-covid ofc, which is impossible lately and you'd see all sorts of flashy cars and people going out, that's part of life. “ — I do, and I see that on a daily basis. I see people going out, socializing, driving around (some in flashy cars), and all that. What I, however, don’t see, are people doing 120 thru mid-day rush hour traffic in those flashy cars, local law enforcement officers with millions in their bank accounts, groups of grown 30-year-old+ adults behaving like elementary school children, and people giving away thousands of dollars/euros/whatever to complete strangers, like it’s candy (I am well aware that there are one-in-a-million social media influencers or a lone news article about someone being very generous with strangers every now and again, but it's far less common than what's being done here). And that, exactly, is why we shouldn’t be doing that here. I know full well that the term roleplay translates to “ …roleplaying is the changing of one's behavior to assume a role… “ & that ‘roleplay’ itself has many genres, some of them not rooted in reality at all, but, we both know full well that the server that we play on, and, most, if not all GTA roleplay servers in existence revolve around portraying realistic, well-thought-out characters, instead of just buzzing around and doing random things that we see fit at any given point of time, regardless of if they’d be realistic for the character we’re playing. So, in short: The genre of roleplay that this server revolves around is not just assuming a random role and carrying on with it, regardless of how (un)realistic it is. Instead, it goes much more in-depth. And, for the sake of going in-depth & maintaining the required standards of ‘realism’, we have to learn to sometimes ignore what the script says (i.e. the script money counter in the top right corner), and instead proceed with what would be the most realistic thing to do.

  6. Tricky Times down at the Port By Troy Francis _____________ Resignations, lack of resources, and low productivity have been hampering the San Andreas Port Authority’s efforts to keep the Port of Los Santos safe. In recent weeks there has been a steady increase in the amount of crime which is impacting the businesses and everyday working men and women that call the port their home. Add into the mix other challenges, such as the recent fire. It spells a challenging time for the Director of the port, Hank Preston, and his newly formed leadership team. The San Andreas Port Authority is the regulatory body, which helps facilitate the movement of inbound and outbound cargo via the Bureau of Labor as well as the institution which enforces safety regulations around the Port, via the Bureau of Safety. Responsibilities can include customs screening, searching for contraband as well as protecting civilians from crime. Both departments are overseen by the Port Director, and a leadership team is in place to work alongside Mr Preston on policy changes, internal affairs, and budgets. However, LSN has discovered that recently there have been changes to this leadership team that has gone unannounced to the people of Los Santos. James Beenhouwer the ex-Safety Superintendent and Frank Jansen, the ex-assistant Superintendent have recently resigned. Speaking to Mr. Preston, he said “Beenhouwer, and I had hit a fork in the road that led to a series of professional disagreements. It came to a point where I felt we needed to sit down personally and discuss the future of the Bureau.” When pressed about the resignations of his long-standing leadership team, Mr. Preston said, “The core issue we faced was disputes. I don’t want to speak ill of James or Frank, but it seemed that all bargaining opportunities had eroded between us. So constant disputes and disagreements between them and the rest of our leadership would be the source of many roadblocks to progress.” James Beenhouwer and Frank Jansen have been replaced by Michael Baker and Violet Choi as Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent Crime continues to be an issue that plagues the port, from gun crime, vehicle and cargo thefts, trespassing, and even illegal vehicle exportation. Safety Officers are trained to investigate and prevent crime with their key objectives as prevention, detection, and then reporting to the relevant authority. However, some companies have expressed disquiet as to how visible the Port Authority is. During my time at the port over the past three weeks, I have seen a mere five safety officers, with one being a fresh recruit out patrolling solo on his first day. Speaking to Mr. Preston, I asked whether the Bureau of Safety had enough resources to provide oversight across the port. ‘Since the appointment of Mr. Baker and Ms. Choi there has been an uptick in productivity amongst our Safety Officers'. Mr. Preston also informed me that they have plans to increase recruitment with a career fair and recruitment drive. It is not all doom and gloom. There are some exciting development opportunities within the port. Mr. Preston confirmed that a private sanitation company is now handling waste in the port, free of charge to the public. There are plans for a real estate venture, via leasing out warehouses for companies to use, as well as launching contract bidding for the scuppering of the ship that burnt down last month, the Daisy-Lee. The combination of public/private ventures is something that can only be good for the port and the wider Los Santos economy. To sum up, it is clear that the San Andreas Port Authority has had a tough time over the past couple of months, especially when you consider the size and scale of the operation, there really is no room for blockers or low productivity, it is also clear that it has impacted the presence of the Bureau of Safety within the port and for the businesses that reside there. However, there are reasons to be optimistic, whether it be an increase in recruitment or business development opportunities. It seems to me that the Port Authority’s best days could be yet to come. > Comments are enabled Username: Comment:

  7. THE BEJKO ORGANIZATION The streets of Tirana and the roots of Albanian-American organized crime In Tirana, Pjeter Marku lived with his mother, grandmother and her young adult son in a part of town called Selvia, and rented a car that I drove on highways that are pitch-black at night and have no speed limits. He went through cities where the traffic lights are suggestions, weaving through the chaos of donkey carts, overloaded motorcycles and pedestrians crossing everywhere. There were no sidewalks. The crumbling walls of many of the buildings were covered by gang tags: graffiti that said fuck this and fuck that, a picture of a smoking spliff on one wall, the phrase "criminal boys" tagged, in English, on the wall of a prison. The streets that had businesses on them were lined with coffee shops, casinos, and one pharmacy after another that sold drugs like Xanax and Ambien over the counter. In a bleak, run-down cement apartment building, "Toni Montana" was graffitied on a hallway wall outside. I went there to visit a divorced mother who was fighting cancer, who lives with her mother and her young adult son who has to hustle to pay under the table for medical treatment. Pjeter was only 12 years old when he was tasked with the daunting responsibility of being a nurse to his terminally ill mom. She was in her last stages of nasopharyngeal cancer, and because we couldn’t afford hospital care and treatments, she opted to live out her final months in her childhood home in the province. More than a decade after his mother died of cancer, her death still haunts me. It was no doubt a painful time, but it was also filled with so many profound moments. His mother, even in her all too fragile state, was indirectly teaching me valuable life lessons, which later on became my weapon and armor to survive adulthood. Pjeter arrived to New York City 8 years after his mothers death on a blistering hot day in June. Twenty-three, ten bags and one roller coaster of a journey ahead of him. He relived nights out at the same clubs, bars, pubs, and restaurants week after week and desperately needed a change. He persevered and made a friendship circle who had now became his rock in the city. The circle hanging around Pjeter started to become a small-time criminal crew in New York which actively hung around clubs, bar pubs and restaurants and collected the filthy jobs from the Italians mobsters. The members of the Marku crew in New York loved Scarface, Donnie Brasco, Goodfellas, John Gotti and the Iceman. One nicknamed himself "Tony Montana." They hustled hard and all-in, with seemingly no regard for consequences, taking equally reckless approaches to their dealings with other dangerous gangsters and the police. For them, it wasn't about business—they seemed committed to the life, at all costs. They practiced shooting at gun ranges, and then shot off their weapons in a coffee shop and, another time, from a car going down the highway in celebration after a drug deal. They bought gun after gun, with accessories—Glocks, silencers, shotguns, 9 mms, semi-automatics, hollow-point bullets, bulletproof vests. They picked up a gun from a fellow restaurant worker for 50 dollars and bought a machine gun from a former soldier. They’d refer to the weapons in code, saying to each other in Albanian, “Make sure you bring that thing (sende) with you.” Multiple figures with violent records seen frequenting Los Santos. Possible resurgence of Albanian Organized Crime? By James Miller. APRIL 10, 2021 11:08 AM PT Once considered as the ‘sixth family’ by the FBI's criminal division of New York, ever after Rudaj’s arrest in 2006, it was safe to assume that Albanian organized crime in NY had been beyond crippled. But as most criminal organizations, when an individual takes the fall, others adapt & emerge to make the most out of whatever remains. Like several other groups, while their hay-days are far beyond over, reports suggest multiple small-time crews continue operating around Astoria & Queens. A striking feature seen among Albanians remains to be the phenomenon of brotherhood, which has continuously faded among other criminals over the past few decades. The most notable example is the involvement of an Albanian-American Police Officer Besnik Llakatura in 2015. FBI Assistant Director-in-Charge Sweeney stated, “Besnik Llakatura took an oath to serve and protect the citizens of New York City as an officer of the NYPD, while simultaneously pledging his allegiance to a violent organized crime group bent on shaking down local Queens business owners within the Albanian community.” Among the list of charged defendants, two notable names were of Pjeter Marku & Tony Bejko, both emigrated to the United States as refugees of war in mid 90s according to reports. Bejko who wasn’t found guilty on any charges has moved to Los Santos ever since, while Pjeter Marku, released in February after a five year sentence has been seen frequenting LS and spotted with Bejko on numerous occasions. Experts believe throughout the course of his stay in Los Santos, Bejko has continued to dabble into the LS underworld. Tried in 2020 for narcotics distribution, Bejko once again was proven not guilty with lack of testimony. With Marku’s unexpected move, the two are suspected to cash in further on what the city has to offer, going back to their old habits.

  8. Hello, It has been a tough year for many of us with some of the events going on in the world, and this server is where most of us fall back so we can avoid real-world problems. To promote physical, mental, and emotional health, I am inviting all community members to partake in the Illegal Factions Community Olympics which will be held later this month upon confirmation with contestants. The event will be streamed and opened up to all community members to partake in and watch. Like the event last year, it is meant to bring people together to have a good time. Harassment, doxing, and other rule violations will not be tolerated and will result in removal and or disqualification from the event. Winners will be receiving their rewards in world points and panda points from Management who have decided to allow the event and reward those participating from the community. There will be four separate events with breaks between each and an intermission (a special event) separating the first and second half. You will be getting live-streamed, and participants are expected to be on video. If you are not comfortable with this, please do not partake. Any questions may be directed to me via Forum PMs or on discord at dushman#0555.
