  1. Username: TheRealGabeRuiz Comment: I doubt that the Los Santos County Sheriff’s Department’s yes-men will understand the magnitude and importance of what it is that I am about to reveal in this letter. Nevertheless, the possibility that even one such individual might awaken to the truth and begin to understand that it is irresponsible to accept everything at face value obliges me to continue. By way of introduction, let me just say that I’m sure the Los Santos County Sheriff’s Department wouldn’t want me to eavesdrop on its meetings. So why does it want to pull us back into a darker, more disordered world? I apologize if this disappoints you, but my intent was only to elucidate the question, not to answer it. I shall therefore state only that the Los Santos County Sheriff’s Department cannot be tamed by tolerance and accommodation but is actually spurred on by such gestures. It sees such gestures as a sign of weakness on our part and is thereby encouraged to continue inciting hatred and violence against vulnerable and marginalized minorities. In many ways, the Los Santos County Sheriff’s Department needs to stop living in denial. It needs to wake up and realize that even if the majority of its collaborators are peaceful, 20% of them turn us into easy prey for stuck-up, debauched Philistines. 20% is in fact a large number of people—and is probably a low estimate. You should therefore not disregard the fact that we have a choice between two different visions of our future. The Los Santos County Sheriff’s Department ’s vision is unforgiving, unctuous, and based on the idea that an open party with unlimited access to alcohol can’t possibly outgrow the host’s ability to manage the crowd. The other vision is hopeful, generous, and confident in the knowledge that the Los Santos County Sheriff’s Department ’s protégés enjoy telling us things like, The Los Santos County Sheriff’s Department is a tireless protector of civil rights and civil liberties for all people. I suppose such twisted phrases are aimed at those among us who fail to use their critical thinking skills to understand that ignorance is bliss. This may be why the Los Santos County Sheriff’s Department ’s blackshirts are generally all smiles. In the past, I’ve said that the Los Santos County Sheriff’s Department ’s historical record of morally corrupt, polyloquent précis is clearer than the muddled pronouncements of its serfs. Were I to make such a generalization today it would contain a few weasel words—an escape hatch or that indispensable cliche that it is apparent where the Los Santos County Sheriff’s Department ’s loyalties lie. But because the Los Santos County Sheriff’s Department ’s whitewash of the issue offers no real analysis of the situation that resulted in its cocky ululations in the first place, I am not ready to retract my conviction or to recant error. I have the following to say to the assertion that ethical responsibility is merely a trammel of earthbound mortals and should not be required of a demigod like the Los Santos County Sheriff’s Department : Baloney! Let me clue you in on a little something: The Los Santos County Sheriff’s Department has offered to deter its helpmates from advertising magical diets and bogus weight-loss pills. Did it follow through with that? No, of course not. This failure may be the Los Santos County Sheriff’s Department ’s most consequential broken promise. It suggests that perhaps what I find most troubling is the Los Santos County Sheriff’s Department ’s desire to shrink the so-called marketplace of ideas down to convenience-store size—and to do so recklessly, without giving even the slightest amount of thought to the possible consequences. We all learned the Golden Rule in school. Maybe the Los Santos County Sheriff’s Department was absent that day. The Los Santos County Sheriff’s Department immerses its logorrheic editorials in clever hyperbole to shroud its true goal of going to great lengths to conceal its true aims and mislead the public. But let’s not lose perspective. I fully intend to oppugn its gormless, neurotic biases. when people ask me, What can I do to help?, I always suggest that they provide some balance to the Los Santos County Sheriff’s Department ’s one-sided commentaries. Such actions are moral in the true sense of the word. Furthermore, they help people see that the Los Santos County Sheriff’s Department ’s campaigns of malice and malignity are becoming increasingly meretricious. They have already begun to play fast and loose with the truth. Now fast-forward a few years to a time in which they have enabled the Los Santos County Sheriff’s Department to form the association in the public’s mind between any exhortations it disagrees with and the ideas of hate and violence and illegality. If you don’t want such a time to come then help me burn away social illness, exploitation, and human suffering. Help me rise above the narrow confines of self-existence to the broader concerns of all humanity. Without going into all the details of how that can be accomplished, let me say simply that it’s not uncommon in our community for people to express their concern that the Los Santos County Sheriff’s Department will use both overt and covert deceptions to deny citizens the ability to draw their own conclusions about the potential for violence that the Los Santos County Sheriff’s Department may be generating by next weekend. If I’ve heard that sentiment once, I’ve heard it a thousand times. (Come to think of it, I probably have heard it a thousand times.) Given that the Los Santos County Sheriff’s Department considers George Orwell’s masterpiece, 1984, to be a how-to book on creating a tolerant utopia rather than a work of fiction describing a dystopian nightmare, it stands to reason that it insists that it has no choice but to divert us from proclaiming what in our innermost conviction is absolutely necessary. Its reasoning is that it commands an army of robots that live in the hollow center of the earth and produce earthquakes whenever they feel like shaking things up a bit on the surface. Yes, I realize that that argument makes no sense, but biggety, obnoxious serpents generally insist that the government should be beholden to special interests, campaign donors, and lobbyists. How little they know! Such people could never grasp that the Los Santos County Sheriff’s Department not only lies but brags about its lying to its compeers. Finally, any mistakes in this letter are strictly my fault. But if you find any factual error or have more updated information on the subject of the Los Santos County Sheriff’s Department, the Los Santos County Sheriff’s Department -inspired versions of scapegoatism, etc., please tell me so I can write an even stronger letter next time.

  3. Detailed Description I believe the current Police Computer Aided Dispatch (/pcad) offers minimal features and functionality, and there are rooms for additions and improvements. The following is the list of the suggestions: Statewide Duty Roster | Addition I believe LEOs should be able to see other agencies' roster as it would be useful for coordination. For instance, if the Sheriff's Department has an available helicopter up patrolling, and there's a vehicle pursuit called in by LSPD. LSPD's supervisor can check the roster and request assistance. Example posted below: Inbox & Messenger System | Addition I saw @Barross's reply to a suggestion, and I think it would be a great idea to have a messenger system between LEOs in a department, where a unit under a callsign can send a message to another unit. I can think of a few example of uses out of this feature: Send descriptions of a vehicle or suspect to a designated unit Send information to other officers such as: Sending video evidence, witness statements, etc to a detective in-charge of a scene Forwarding evidence log number to the arresting officer of a suspect Send any alerts or information of interest Example Below was posted by Barross. Adding Notes to & Changing Status of Calls for Service |Addition & Improvements Currently, there is not much you can do with a 911 call on the CAD except respond to it. I believe adding the two options would help with advising other LEOs of the state of an emergency call. The following is the example: Daylong Logs of Non-Emergency (991) Calls | Addition Currently, non-emergency calls are not logged. They come and go, which is not known to be an issue. However, it could be useful to have them logged as an additional tab (maybe next to 911 calls), at least until the server crashes or restarts, just like how the list of 911 works on the CAD, so law enforcement officers know which calls have not yet been taken care of. Stolen Vehicles List | Addition Although there is already a command /stolenvehiclelist, having a small tab with list of the reported stolen vehicles would be neat. I suggest adding vehicle paints to the information as well to save the extra efforts similarly to how it shows on the mobile data computer (MDC). I have made an example of how it could look below. Unit's Assigned Vehicle Tab | Addition (Suggested by @415 Man) On the 'DUTY ROSTER' section of the CAD, add a 'VEHICLE' column which displays the license plate of the vehicle that unit is using to help keep a track of who is using what vehicle. This could be added to the /pcallsign command: /pcallsign [callsign] [licenseplate] For example: /pcallsign 2T18 12130795 Visual example: Or, if you're already sitting inside the vehicle, you could do /pcallsign 2T18 like normal and the license plate would auto-fill. The above are the suggested features I have right now. More may be added if ideas come up. if other fellow LEO roleplayers have any ideas, please suggest, and I'll add them here in the main post! How will it benefit the server? Without a doubt, the police computer aided dispatch will be more useful and informative, and potentially used a lot more. Law Enforcement will be able to communicate more efficiently with some of the suggested features. Some of the features would be quality of life improvements that help law enforcement with their regular duties.

  5. Tricky Times down at the Port By Troy Francis _____________ Resignations, lack of resources, and low productivity have been hampering the San Andreas Port Authority’s efforts to keep the Port of Los Santos safe. In recent weeks there has been a steady increase in the amount of crime which is impacting the businesses and everyday working men and women that call the port their home. Add into the mix other challenges, such as the recent fire. It spells a challenging time for the Director of the port, Hank Preston, and his newly formed leadership team. The San Andreas Port Authority is the regulatory body, which helps facilitate the movement of inbound and outbound cargo via the Bureau of Labor as well as the institution which enforces safety regulations around the Port, via the Bureau of Safety. Responsibilities can include customs screening, searching for contraband as well as protecting civilians from crime. Both departments are overseen by the Port Director, and a leadership team is in place to work alongside Mr Preston on policy changes, internal affairs, and budgets. However, LSN has discovered that recently there have been changes to this leadership team that has gone unannounced to the people of Los Santos. James Beenhouwer the ex-Safety Superintendent and Frank Jansen, the ex-assistant Superintendent have recently resigned. Speaking to Mr. Preston, he said “Beenhouwer, and I had hit a fork in the road that led to a series of professional disagreements. It came to a point where I felt we needed to sit down personally and discuss the future of the Bureau.” When pressed about the resignations of his long-standing leadership team, Mr. Preston said, “The core issue we faced was disputes. I don’t want to speak ill of James or Frank, but it seemed that all bargaining opportunities had eroded between us. So constant disputes and disagreements between them and the rest of our leadership would be the source of many roadblocks to progress.” James Beenhouwer and Frank Jansen have been replaced by Michael Baker and Violet Choi as Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent Crime continues to be an issue that plagues the port, from gun crime, vehicle and cargo thefts, trespassing, and even illegal vehicle exportation. Safety Officers are trained to investigate and prevent crime with their key objectives as prevention, detection, and then reporting to the relevant authority. However, some companies have expressed disquiet as to how visible the Port Authority is. During my time at the port over the past three weeks, I have seen a mere five safety officers, with one being a fresh recruit out patrolling solo on his first day. Speaking to Mr. Preston, I asked whether the Bureau of Safety had enough resources to provide oversight across the port. ‘Since the appointment of Mr. Baker and Ms. Choi there has been an uptick in productivity amongst our Safety Officers'. Mr. Preston also informed me that they have plans to increase recruitment with a career fair and recruitment drive. It is not all doom and gloom. There are some exciting development opportunities within the port. Mr. Preston confirmed that a private sanitation company is now handling waste in the port, free of charge to the public. There are plans for a real estate venture, via leasing out warehouses for companies to use, as well as launching contract bidding for the scuppering of the ship that burnt down last month, the Daisy-Lee. The combination of public/private ventures is something that can only be good for the port and the wider Los Santos economy. To sum up, it is clear that the San Andreas Port Authority has had a tough time over the past couple of months, especially when you consider the size and scale of the operation, there really is no room for blockers or low productivity, it is also clear that it has impacted the presence of the Bureau of Safety within the port and for the businesses that reside there. However, there are reasons to be optimistic, whether it be an increase in recruitment or business development opportunities. It seems to me that the Port Authority’s best days could be yet to come. > Comments are enabled Username: Comment:
