  4. The general experience of the admin team and players that reached out with feedback was that the vast majority of poorly portrayed robberies/robberies just for assets were done by players that were not associated with existing illegal factions. Illegal faction leaders have a responsibility to make sure their members are not only RPing to a good standard, but they are abiding by the rules. Faction members that are involved in situations that are roleplayed badly or end up getting punished are reported to IFM. I'll let the specific process after that point be explained by someone from IFM but the summary is there is additional quality control in place for members of illegal factions. The level of quality control is lower outside of approved factions as it falls back on the rest of the admin team. It can be difficult to track problem players as they frequently go inactive, play on different characters or name change. The new rules are strict and they were written that way on purpose. As Bospy stated in his announcement, admins have been instructed on how to enforce it. We can really bring the hammer down on people who are generally out to provide shitty robbery RP. I did the other day when someone got kidnapped from the city and brought out to the county so they could essentially go through a strip search and have literally everything taken from them. The trio of robbers were also planning on driving back to the city to steal from the guy's car. The new rules made it much easier to issue punishments and explain where these players were wrong because it's clearly written in the rules. That's the purpose of this change. Illegal faction members, who in the vast majority of cases have a higher standard of RP, are able to commit crime with less restrictions than these rules impose. Their own restrictions are from their faction leaders and IFM. So if a faction based in Vespucci Beach decides to rob your character on said beach, you're much more likely to have a better RP experience and know that it is being done for RP purposes and not because it's another player or group of players that just want a shootout or guns. As for how admins determine if people are in factions or not, that can be done with one command. Admins have internal guidelines on what to do in these situations. I'm not in a position to share more information than that publicly. Just know that they're descriptive enough to make the change easy to enforce. If any admin is unsure, they can consult IFM. I have to head to work shortly so I won't be responding here until much later. Someone from IFM will likely be responding in the next few hours too to clear up any more questions. Please keep things civil to make it easier for any questions to be cleared up.

  5. I like how we're still pretending this robbery issue isn't a firearm issue, make it against the rules to rob firearms and we would see a significant decrease in robberies and an increase in quality. The bad robberies are 9/10 times aimed toward farming PF weapons, take that out of the equation and we don't need a wall of text, or a whole map to determine where people can get mugged. This is, and will always be a firearm treasure hunt, we wouldn't need ANY of these rules if we just made it against the rules to steal someone's firearm. (And of course, not allowing the civilian to use said firearm in the particular robbery scenario to even the playing field)

  6. Genuinely curious how this is going to be enforced. Since players don't know if a MASK is in a faction or not, admins are bound to get a lot of 'false flag' reports. If someone is reported in-game do admins check their faction status before coming to a decision? What counts as an 'Established Illegal Character'? Can I make a character, join an official faction after a couple hours of play and skirt right around the rules because I now belong to an official faction? It just seems like with all the exceptions made for the recent rule depending on player status, there's going to be alot of cluster-fuckery for admins to sort through.

  10. I'll keep my opinion short and sweet. There are bad apples on every side, you have gangs who go four deep from Davis to Vinewood to rob people and then you have people who clearly don't wanna take a loss and complain in /b or in the forums. A few bad apples doesn't make the whole tree rotten. I'd rather get robbed by a Vespucci gang if I was in Vespucci rather than 345 Hustler Baby Diapers Crips coming down for Carson.

  11. I have also legit never been robbed on this server during 3 years of playing, but I've had one failed robbery attempt where some gonk chased me down while shooting at the same time, then his car got recognized and once he's been told to fuck off out the neighborhood, he then DM'ed me and like five other people at a gas station some time later. He also tried to talk shit in my DMs after his failed attempt and yadda yadda. Do you know what happened to him? He got banned for some other shit, but I reported him anyways to make sure that he doesn't come back due to admins being very trigger-happy with the unban-gun. He did get unbanned eventually because let's face it, no ban is permanent on this server, unless you're caught being a nonce or something, but he probably came back rehabilitated, and probably had time to think about what he did, since I didn't see any major reports on him since then. See the pattern here? I took action when I saw truly, magnificently shitty roleplay and the dude got punished accordingly. Something got thrown on top of his ban just in case he'd ever get unbanned, to remind him that he fucked up that one time. Admins on this server do care but reports take time because everyone, for the most part, has a real job, a family and over all shit to take care of. The new rules are okay, certain things I don't like but for the most part they have prevented what everyone's been complaining about for the longest time ever - shitty roleplayers formed into groups giving you shitty roleplay. If anything else happens that's bad just take my advice for once and report it, it will take you five minutes and you will not only serve justice but also do a favor for the community. I wish more people in this community would stop being such crybabies, we're a community after all. If you do not want to do something for your own good then think about the fact that it might make it good for the rest of us, and if it takes you a few minutes tops then you might as well do that. We will all appreciate you putting in work to purge shitty roleplay and it doesn't matter whether we roleplay legal, illegal or neutral.

  13. Never happened to me either, and the people in the SD discord I asked, the highest number was 5 times in their total time on the server. If you're getting robbed multiple times a day it's because you're putting yourself into situations where it's likely for no logical reason other than "pesky crimers shouldn't be criming!!!" and you've convinced yourself that you're in the right every time even though you're going to places where people get robbed. @Keane put it exceptionally well, most official factions leaderships hold themselves to a far higher standard of roleplay, and that trickles down into gangs. There are no official factions sending robbery squads to chain-rob people because those chain robberies would get the faction in trouble. If you're reporting people for bad portrayal while robbing, and they're not getting punished, it's usually because they've not done anything wrong.

  14. The people robbing you aren't the problem, you're the problem if you're continuously being targeted. If you think the solution is to further limit illegal roleplay when it's already restricted, please remove yourself from this conversation. I've been on the server (on and off) for two years and have only been robbed at gun point once and that was inside a property where I agreed for them to follow me into the apartment I was entering. Before anybody decides to come at me, I only roleplay a legal character currently so don't go whinging about me being biased.

  16. It would have been better, IF people stopped worrying about their assets. My only complain about the crime always been more story driven, like how am I gonna explain, that I been victim of Grand Theft Auto twice in a single evening? How am I gonna implement that into my story, that there is an ooc chopping list avaliable in every garage and anyone with a lockpick and mechanic job with a friend who can chop it, will infact go, find a car and chop it? How am I gonna explain, that every time I decide to just take a walk on the boulevard, there is always a couple of robbers looking to catch someone lacking. Cause poorly rped or not, voided or not. It still did happen. I still have to wait for my car to respawn. This has been my only issue this whole time. So you got your car stolen, so what? Call cops, report it. You have been robbed okay. As normal citizen, call cops make a statement. But if this happens to you and people around you every week? Nah, every book or movie gets boring if you see all the same scenes over and over again.

  19. Why is this so true? I often wonder what it is these people are saying they're missing out on being able to do, yet when I look through their roleplay all they do is just roleplay virtual relationships. It feels like this place is a dating platform at times, my experience in legal factions was just witnessing stupid relationship drama between people who spent hours ERPing with each other.
