  3. A handcuffed District Attorney Melanie Cromwell is lead into the vehicle of her arresting deputy Biagini trial chaos: District Attorney Melanie Cromwell and Cyril Regas arrested after being held in contempt of court The trial of Vincenzo Biagini, the LSPD officer charged with manslaughter following the shooting of garbage truck driver Tony Peres, takes an unexpected turn as Justice Clarence Marshall holds both the District Attorney and the defendant’s legal representative Cyril Regas in contempt By PHOEBE HOLTER LOS SANTOS - “This is going down in the history books at least”, Cyril Regas remarked as he stood handcuffed in one of the hearing rooms of the Greg E. Joplin Courthouse. In a move that shocked those at the hearing, Justice Clarence Marshall had just held both him and District Attorney Melanie Cromwell in contempt of court, following a dispute over the timing of the case’s verdict and closing statements. Originally scheduled as a witness examination, the hearing went largely without issue until the cross examination of the defendant (LSPD Officer Vincenzo Biagini) came to an end. Justice Marshall at that point signalled that he wished to draw the case to a close, stating he believed the court was “ready to move forward to deliberating a judgement”. This was immediately rebuffed by Regas, who protested the lack of closing statements. Despite these protests, Justice Marshall reinforced his position, expressing that he felt the closing statements had already been provided. Cyril Regas, already handcuffed by this point stands across from Melanie Cromwell, as both are arrested “The second statements you gave were your closing statements and I was clear in that. But I will give you an opportunity to give brief closing statements here of course.” - Justice Clarence Marshall District Attorney Cromwell also signalled her disagreement with Marshall’s decision, expressing that she believed that either skipping or rushing the closing statements jeopardized not only the right to a free trial for Biagni, but also the prosecution. She commented: “this is an unprecedented decision that will violate the right to a fair trial of both sides.” Proceedings took a turn for the worse when Regas took to protesting Justice Marshall’s decision to allow a brief closing statement, a compromise made in place of just moving straight to a verdict. “Congratulations counselor, I will be holding you in contempt, ” Justice Marshall remarked, after disagreeing with Regas’ understanding of case procedure. “I have given you warning after warning”. D.A. Cromwell outside of the courthouse It was at this point that District Attorney Cromwell felt she had to “step in for Mister Regas”, backing his claims the trial was not fair. This move saw the District Attorney also be held in contempt, as Marshall abruptly adjourned the hearing and signalled that he would “[forward] complaints to the Bar Association”. “This is unacceptable”, he stated. “The Judiciary dictates the flow of this trial.” D.A Cromwell in a Sherriff's Department vehicle “Your Honor, this is not a fair trial. I do want the defendant to be found guilty, but because the Court actually came to that conclusion. Not by denying the defendant a right to a fair trial.” - D.A. Cromwell addresses Justice Marshall It was shortly after this point where handcuffs were applied as both counsels for the prosecution and the defence were escorted out of the building by LSSD deputies. According to Cyril Regas, who spoke to News X later that evening, an emergency intervention motion by a higher judge halted the arrests, though this was sometime after both had been escorted away from the courthouse. Cyril Regas as he is escorted out of the hearing room The sight of the District Attorney in handcuffs leaving the Greg E. Joplin Courthouse is not a daily occurrence. But it is both just another turn in an already contentious case and in the career of a District Attorney who’s not afraid of making bold statements. From the partial decriminalization of marijuana, to her public political statements made on Facebrowser. Cromwell is no stranger to controversy, as a recent online poll calling for her resignation shows. Cyril Regas, being escorted in a LSSD vehicle “Free Biagini, he was just taking the trash out.” - Cyril Regas, after being asked for comment while being frisked during his arrest As for Biagini, things are much more uncertain and his case remains in the air. The LSPD officer was charged with manslaughter after having shot garbage truck driver Tony Perez who it is claimed was imminently about to hit his colleagues (this claim is disputed by the prosecution). “I'm calling for a mistrial here, the rights of Biagini were dragged through the mud,” Regas commented while giving a statement to News X after his arrest was halted. District Attorney Melanie Cromwell escorted out of the coutroom (( Handcuffs were applied, but animation was bugged I think )) This story will be updated as more information arises. 4. Plant Delivery of Machinery and Equipment v2.0 - Joint Operation Involving Aurum, Port Authority, Kazanov & IMEX As always, it's been our pleasure to host Port Authority and the logistics factions that tagged along. While Aurum undergoes a time of transition, it's important to keep our ties with other legal factions and help create roleplay for one another. It was also nice seeing some SAGOV Senators down there! We definitely look forward to seeing more of these large-scale events in the future and working collectively with other factions and businesses.

  7. Username: Real10-8 Comment: This is my crusade against the Los Santos Police Officer known as Rafael Videla, clearly a Nazi supporter and descendent of dictator Jorge Videla — how else can you explain a Latino man with blue eyes and blond hair? German parents, and the need to secure a future for his people and the future of white children. There are a number of frightening facts about Rafael Videla that I absolutely must make public. But before I do I need to go into a fair about of detail explaining how all the countries of the world must make common cause against Rafael’s intrusive claim that he would never dream of fortifying a social correctness that restricts experience and defines success with narrow boundaries. Hang in there; this explanation won’t take long. First things first: His cynical, morally repugnant pranks are meticulously designed to keep the population unaware, uneducated, dumbed down, and focused on stupefying activities like video games. The intention is to prevent people from noticing that Rafael has been forcing his moral code on the rest of us. Rafael will force women to live by restrictive standards not applicable to men in the blink of an eye—not necessarily by direct action, but by convincing his operatives to operate on a criminal—as opposed to a civil disobedience—basis. Let me give you a concrete example of his completely imperialism-prone behavior. Really, the only way to deal with a subject like this is to study concrete examples—many concrete examples—to look at the details and observe how Rafael’s wanton actions benefit from this sense of us versus them. My example begins with the observation that Rafael’s criticisms are a sociopolitical tragicomedy. On the one hand, they taunt, deride, and generally vilipend Rafael’s hecklers, but on the other hand, they provoke violence and religious extremism. The most entertaining part, though, is that I think I know why so many openly muzzy-headed lowlifes expose and neutralize Rafael’s nemeses rather than sit at the same table and negotiate. It’s because Rafael has whipped them into a blind frenzy by telling them that he’s the ultimate authority on what’s right and what’s wrong. Unfortunately for Rafael, the ground truth is that we must fix our sights on the distant future, when we will have finally cleared away the spiritual and physical debris of the Rafael Videla era. If you don’t believe me, see for yourself. On the surface, it would seem merely that Rafael’s theories are sheer hypothesis—speculation with not even a scintilla of circumstantial evidence to support them. But the truth is that Rafael’s apocrisiaries often reverse the normal process of interpretation. That is, they value the unsaid over the said, the obscure over the clear. I agree that Rafael’s ornery, inaniloquent holier-than-thou attitudes will never shed the stain of virulent misoneism. But I also think that alarmism is a kind of prison. It is also, paradoxically, a haven. It is at once confining and empowering. And in the absence of alternative havens, alarmism will for many of Rafael’s partners in crime continue to be a source of comfort, something to free them from having to confront the fact that Rafael should stop bombarding us with his politically incorrect glaikery. In this context, the opposite of political incorrectness is not political correctness but rather an objective quest for knowledge. As we all know, most catty gossipmongers lack any knowledge about how we are at a crossroads. One road leads into the light of a bright, shining future in which dour hoodlums like Rafael are thoroughly absent. The other road leads into the darkness of mammonism. The question, therefore, is who’s driving the bus? In answering that question, Exhibit A is that Rafael wants to change behavior, thought, and even the words we use. To a significant extent, he already has. By this, I mean that Rafael does not content himself with causing the destruction of human ambition and joy. Rather, Rafael seeks to spatter my reputation. If he does, that will be the end of the general public knowing that I frequently talk about how the mere mention of his loathsome name jacks my blood pressure up into dangerous territory. I would drop the subject except that I regard avoiding the extremes of a pessimistic naturalism and an optimistic humanism by combining the truths of both as the basic purpose of my daily life. I am willing not only to consciously work and sacrifice for that goal but also to use evidence-based arguments when discussing issues with Rafael. Rafael is able to argue only from emotionalism. He doesn’t argue from a logical, linear point of view. Hence, by taking on Rafael at his false premises one can easily demonstrate that I want to unify our community. Rafael, in contrast, wants to drive divisive ideological wedges through it. The last point I’ll make is this: Rafael Videla’s arguments are so full of holes that one cannot help but think that I, speaking as someone who is not a mendacious, snippy bottom-feeder, think this is tragic.

  8. This thread is being closed due to a lack of effort. The spelling, grammar, and punctuation simply does not meet basic standards expected from a group thread. Alongside that the background information doesn't add up with continuity especially when stating that the gang would claim an area/complex in the "early 1900s". The first documented street gang originating from Los Angeles was first recorded around the 1920s and the first Crip set wasn't established until around 1969. I encourage you to rewrite this thread to bring it up to standards alongside fact checking the background information.

  10. Putting it behind an admin pray-wall is not the right way to go about it indeed, but I think my suggestion I presented previously on this thread isn't actually all that far fetched. If you put kidnapping under the same rules as deathmatching you're basically solving the whole issue. Kidnapping people for absolutely no reason is extremely silly. Kidnapping them to rob them in a quiet place is extremely silly. You're going from robbery, to robbery and kidnapping. Escalating a possible IC sentence over nothing. I also don't understand how people say it's hard to rob people if you can't kidnap them beforehand, it's really not that difficult. Criminals already have the advantage of being able to rob people anywhere they want, regardless of day of time. If you can't find a suitable victim in a suitable location where you can quickly go in and out to conduct your robbery? Then perhaps try again the next day. We have the deathmatch rule in place to avoid chaos and mayhem and peoples playing experience being ruined. But I can guarantee you that a lot of people, much like me would rather get DMed by a random person out of nowhere. So we can shrug it off, spawn at the hospital and continue our day. Compared to being kidnapped out of the blue, for no reason at all and forced to roleplay that for several hours. It's a huge waste of time, and it's not exactly something that is beneficial to anyone's roleplay due to the amount of robberies/kidnappings that already occur. If you were to roleplay everything out that your character witnesses or hears, they would not leave their house because Los Santos is a scary city. If people have a proper reason to kidnap someone, they likely have to thank themselves for it and its a direct consequense of something they've previously roleplayed so it's the risk they took by performing said actions and then the kidnapping is completely justified and it actually works properly for a persons development too as it's part of the scene they roleplay in. Random civilians being kidnapped so they can be robbed later is just not it, and it is definitely not the type of roleplay we should promote on a hardcore roleplaying server. Edit: I'm not advocating for a permission system, just kidnapping being treated the same way as deathmatching.

  11. Any attempts at "money-sinks" have to realize the money driving inflation isn't equitably distributed. The goal should be to push more of the server to a "middle class" rather than make new players/characters an OOC ordeal to "set up" with the basics. Non "luxury" apartments and cars shouldn't be difficult to achieve and it benefits the server as a whole to make it so the majority of its players can adequately RP/represent their character. Mass quantities of firearms/drugs, vehicles, multiple properties - or large-scale luxury properties - should be harder to obtain and should have enough upkeep that car/house "collections" are less feasible. Its pretty obvious (to me) that $495 paycheques and a starter 200k over 40 hours aren't the driving issues of the economy. Also RP servers that exclusively cater to those without RL obligations become stagnant with unpleasant communities quite quickly. Obsessing over what new players start with or what someone can eke out via $500 paycheques (a whopping 12k a day if you literally log in for 24hrs) is, to me, a complete waste of time and has a video-gameish grind mentality rather than a roleplay one. Ultimately the excess of wealth is only really an issue around two things 1) Limited resources (ie property). You can fight inflation to fix this, but you can also try and add more of the resource. While the server should do both, you're probably going to have more success by adding in more apartments. At least then the inflation of stand-alone houses mirrors the real world hell of the modern housing market on the West Coast. 2) Poor portrayal of wealth; You can make it really hard to be rich, and hard to stay rich, and you're still going to have someone do a bad job of roleplaying rich. Script limitations in of themselves aren't going to make people RP better. Rather than trying to create byzantine solutions via the economy to this, you should just live and let live unless someones portayal is so bad it undermines RP; in which case that's what the administration is there for, to regulate shit RP. You can't fix an OOC problem (bad roleplaying) via script means. Ultimately you won't ever create a realistic economy because the differences between a game-economy and RL one are vast. The economy doesn't matter that much unless people can't get things they should justifiably be able to get (basic houses, cars, the ability to buy modest amounts of whatever facilitates their roleplay).

  12. On September 26th, a petition for my resignation was published. Although the information provided in that petition may seem reliable, none of it is true. If I did what was described in that petition, I would have resigned myself, but I am not going to resign from my office, because a person decided to defame my character and present completely untrue information about my work as the District Attorney. I addressed all issues raised in the petition, which you can find below. Link to the petition: click here. "On multiple occasions, Cromwell has displayed her inability to appropriately prosecute cold-blooded criminals, both violent and non-violent, leading an extremely 'woke' agenda as part of her position, one that hurts the DA's office ability to truly prosecute individuals for their hideous crimes." It is hard for me to address this part of the petition, as no examples were given. Nevertheless, I never dismissed a case for no reason. A common issue for the dismissals is insufficient evidence. I am an experienced prosecutor, therefore when I see a case file, I can immediately tell whether that case can be won or not. It is not uncommon for peace officers to; not take the contact information of witnesses, to perform unconstitutional searches, to misunderstand the law, or to write an arrest report improperly. We are given 72 hours since the arrest to arraign a person. Ninety percent of those delays are caused by law enforcement agencies. During those 72 hours we have to ask multiple clarifying questions, request forensic reports, request reports from medical examiner's office - all of which should have been there in the first place. If we dismiss a case, it's almost always dismissed without prejudice, which means that the suspect can be rearrested once more evidence is gathered. It is not our job to do the work of the officers for them, as prosecutors do not have the power to conduct those duties. "Sometimes, in the form of an over exaggerated plea deal that does nothing more than reduce criminals' time by two thirds, to outright dropping multiple charges on individuals which any sane person would regard as vile and dangerous individuals to society. From murders, to possession of illegal firearms, public disturbances and more." Across the entire United States, approximately 90% of criminal cases result in plea agreements. I have reviewed plea agreements done under the previous District Attorneys in Los Santos County, and there's no difference whatsoever. Behind every plea agreement, there is a reason for it. "Furthermore, Cromwell has lead to one of the greatest falling out of relations between the Los Santos Sheriff's Department and the District Attorney's Office due to her ego." The unfortunate relationship between the District Attorney's Office and the Los Santos Sheriff's Department has been ongoing for multiple months. Those issues started even before I accepted a job offer at the District Attorney's Office in March 2021, and that was before I became the District Attorney. What the author fails to mention is that almost every time a prosecutor arrives at Twin Towers Correctional Facility to perform an interview or an interrogation, the Sheriff's Department creates new policies to make our job harder, at times making the interrogation impossible. One time, they would not allow a prosecutor of my office to conduct interrogations, which resulted in dismissals, as those interrogations were crucial to the cases. Another time, I was told I cannot conduct an interrogation, because a Sheriff's Department detective will do it themselves. They didn't, and the case was dismissed due to the delay caused by them. A prosecutor of my office also requested evidence from the Sheriff's Department multiple times during one case, and after about 10 days of being ignored by the Sheriff's Department, the case had to be dismissed. In some of the other cases, precedents were improperly applied by the deputies of the Los Santos Sheriff's Department. "The falling out stemmed out for no logical reason but Cromwell's inability to accept the LSSD's deputies VALID and LEGAL actions in the apprehension of a murdered. Instead, Cromwell chose to take the side of the person who was recorded partaking in a murder and was documented being in possession of a firearm despite his lack of valid licenses and permits." I assume that the author refers to the case of Martin Pisano. If there is a penal code section shielding him from any criminal liability, he cannot be charged. I do not make the law, nor can I change it to work in my favor. It doesn't matter how many times the victim was shot; the penal code shields him from criminal liability. He was charged for possession of that firearm, and for leaving the scene of a self-defense shooting. He was not found guilty of the latter, therefore he would not have been found guilty of that murder. "Cromwell has also displayed unprofessional conduct, delving into partisan issues on social media and dissing a San Andreas State Government Senator." That San Andreas State Government Senator tried to propose an act, that would allow law enforcement officers to perform searches for no reason, other than the type of the vehicle a person is driving. "It doesn't even stop here. As of the time of this petition, Cromwell herself is attempting to place a POLICE OFFICER in jail for defending his and his colleagues' lives." As stated previously, I do not make the law. The law that we have says that it was not self-defense. I do not have the power to change the law, and if a civilian was the one to do what that officer did, that civilian would have been in cuffs within seconds. I do not tolerate double standards. "Outside of the court, Cromwell herself lead the charge to remove the officer from a wedding of his colleague and one of his best friends, simply due to the fact she for some unknown reason has a hate boner against all service members who devote their lives to the safe being of Cromwell and all inhabitants of the state of San Andreas." That is not relevant to the petition, but I did not have anyone removed from the wedding. In fact, when I was asked if I was comfortable with the defendant being at the same place as me, I stated that I was fine with it. I am not aware as to why he was removed. I hope that light was shed on the false accusations against me. In order to remove a District Attorney from their position, they must have engaged in corruption. There are other reasons, but none of them apply to me (nor even to the false accusations against me). The only purpose of that petition is to pressure me into resigning myself, which I will not do, if the petition is based on nothing but untrue information. Any person can e-mail me at [email protected] with any inquiries. Although numerous issues occurred between my office, the Los Santos Sheriff's Department, and the Los Santos Police Department, I am not referring to all officers by criticizing actions done by those agencies. Despite those issues, I have great respect for all officers. Any questions can be asked as a comment below this article. > Comments are enabled. Username: Comment:

  17. I have so far only had positive experiences with this faction. I loved the way they handled Peter and the RP to install the security systems was great. They were very thorough both IC and OOC in explaining things. My two encounters outside of that was meeting one on the street and one time they called me because I left my door unlocked. They have their haters for whatever reason, valid or not, it hasn't been my personal experience. Security agencies aren't held to the same standards the police may be. Less training, less motivated stuff, lower paychecks. I've seen better conduct from G6 then I've seen some some members of Law Enforcement. Also one guy in training doing something silly doesn't reflect on the WHOLE faction and can easily be reported ICly or OOCly based on the conduct type.

  18. After a review of this groups actions, Illegal Faction Management has been presented with several issues. The groups roleplay quality as a whole is extremely low and poor. It is at a level that is not expected from groups and we do not believe that this group is capable of providing quality roleplay to the server. Alongside that, there has also been several instances of both group wide rules of engagement violations and player reinvolvements into conflicts they are player-killed from. There is a clear gun hungry and conflict chasing motivation displayed as a whole. Illegal Faction Management does not have any trust in the leadership of this group in both creating a quality group or in policing their own members. As a response to this, the group will not only be shut down today but the leadership will also be barred from creating any new groups for a period of 3 months. Current group members are disallowed from continuing to roleplay as a group and this gang is now considered defunct. Punishments will be handed out to anyone found roleplaying their characters together. Individual player punishments will also be dished out for the rulebreaking that led to this groups closure.
