  1. Hello, I feel very strongly that our court system is one of our strongest things we have to offer as a server, and, the server would benefit greatly from allowing guests/unauthenticated users to view it. I think that allowing search engines to index it and allowing unauthenticated users to browse it would help us build interest from potential new players.

  4. I roleplayed a corrupt Sergeant in the Sheriff's Department for roughly three months before I started to dread coming in-game because nobody would report my character for his fucked up misdeeds and roleplaying a sociopath in that environment can be grating, I would not have fun approaching every scene with the mindset of "What's the worst thing someone could do here?" I have no problems roleplaying a criminal, but a corrupt cop who beats the shit out of people in handcuffs is annoying to RP. Eventually you start to realize that as you escalate your character's behaviors, there has to be a crescendo end to it all. Police brutality is fucked up, let's just put it that way - go watch the video of the LAPD officer beating the shit out of a handcuffed Hispanic gang member for no reason and tell me that's something you want to RP every day. It wasn't an every day occurrence, but the roleplay was often heinous enough for me to want to call it quits. Bribing police to get out of a traffic stop is a very bad idea in the United States and basically never happens in the modern era, at least since Serpico, that's highly unrealistic and something I would never support. As a disclaimer, realistic police corruption is very depressing and something that shouldn't be romanticized under any circumstance, I think corrupt police officers are terrible people who should be cashiered and drummed out in front of their entire departments. That being said, the vast majority of police corruption concerns things like domestic abuse, drunk driving, or overuse of force. People utilizing their position for predatory purposes (such as profiting off of a criminal enterprise) are even more rare and almost always involves stuff that isn't really lucrative or fun, there's too much oversight for a cop in a city like LA to take bribes on a traffic stop. When we talk about shithead cops abusing their badge and violating their oaths, typically they do dumb shit like food stamp fraud or flipping seized drugs. I tried to portray a realistic criminally corrupt character - you really need to drag the darkest parts of yourself out in order to do it right. He was never going to get caught so I eventually had him arrested by the FBI on an NPC basis. Police corruption exists on the server in droves in the Sheriff's Department, and I've seen corrupt LSPD officers just as well. I would argue we could do with less corruption in some cases. People who RP being corrupt for the sake of it are doing it with the wrong intentions and most often end up portraying a cinema version of corruption like something out of Training Day. In reality, just like normal crime, there's nothing glamorous about it. I think only experienced roleplayers should try corruption roleplay, otherwise you're bound for trouble.

  6. I don't recognize pretty much 95% of the peoples forum names on here but then again it has been over six years since I last played that community although it seems people have never stopped talking about me on there from what people tell me. I had a lot of fond memories on that community and a lot of weird and bad ones. That being said it has been over six years and I don't hold and grudges and my views and many in that communities back then were on different wavelengths which since have seemed to somewhat align considering I'm not seeing Apaches bombing towns on GTA:W. (I hope I haven't jinxed it!) 😂 I do remember my old boy RAKEDAWG @Procaine and @NickyW though! That being said 99% of the people that commented on me in that community had never sat down in a channel with me on a one to one basis and only knew me as this demonic hateful figure that people had made me out to be. I was however a dick at times like everyone but mostly it was warranted like when the server owner would blow up our PD ceremonies with C4 or change my password so his friend could go on my account and DM and shout 'Mother Russia' and racial slurs whilst I was sleeping. I really wish I never threw out my old PC as there was a lot of funny TS recordings and screenshots from that community. That being said I have 0 grudges from that community as we've all grown up in that time for people that were around back then. I mostly had enjoyable memories from that community over the years and met some amazing people playing there. Sadly this is all I have from the nostalgia bank of the LEA's on the server back then apart from terrible SS's of random crap.

  8. Effective immediate, the leadership of this group have decided to shut it down. We thank you all for the support, but recent OOC events taken IC by other groupings has lead to too much OOC fighting to keep this alive. Character kills have been granted to other groups on us, over a bar fight which has lead to one leadership character being killed, it is still pending IFM but we've decided that is best for our OOC motivation to roleplay to simply let go and start fresh without having any former sources of roleplay try and harm ours. We appreciate everybody who came for roleplay, thank you. You made our journey Magical.

  13. Taxi drivers are often portrayed as the ultimate entrepreneurs, free of any fixed workplace, able to choose their own hours, and with a toehold in the American middle class. That stereotype may have been accurate in New York City decades ago, but in contemporary Los Santos, taxi drivers spend long hours in sweatshops on wheels their pay and working conditions controlled largely by company owners. Less than half of L.S. taxi drivers own their own cabs, and many of those who do have borrowed heavily to purchase them. In 2021, L.S. taxi drivers formed the Los Santos Taxi Workers Alliance (LSTWA) in order to improve working conditions, gain control over their jobs, and earn respect. Los Santos Taxi Worker Alliance (LSTWA) The mission of the Los Santos Taxi Workers Alliance is to provide a unifying force, improve working conditions, and protect fair business practices for all Los Santos taxi industry workers. "We strive to promote a healthy taxi industry that will attract quality drivers and foster a well informed taxi population in the City. We encourage respectful discourse in our community, even with our adversaries.", said Michael Pierce, president of LSTWA. Another union leader who has lent his voice to the taxi workers’ effort said that although this was not a formal organizing effort, it does bear similarities to one. “They are trying to harness as much collective power and support as they can so they can move progressive change,” said Troy Muzio. “While not a formal union, they are acting like one. And we have historically supported low-wage worker movements.” Muzio said that if the Taxi Workers Alliance is successful, “that’s more power all of us have to fight back against low wages and lack of health care benefits and exploitation that happens in a city like this with the largest underground economy and the largest pool of immigrant workers.” Muzio said that if the Taxi Workers Alliance is successful, “that’s more power all of us have to fight back against low wages and lack of health care benefits and exploitation that happens in a city like this with the largest underground economy and the largest pool of immigrant workers.” The Structure of the L.S. Taxi Industry The City awarded leasings to the elite and owners of companies that exercise a great deal of control over the drivers. Rudy Armone called the industry a “monster,” evoking the imagery of a hydra with nine heads, alluding to the fact that one company control almost all of L.S. cabs, largely through a structure of leasings. The net income (and indirectly, working hours) of both owner-operators and lease drivers depends on the fees the companies set as well as on the price of fuel – neither of which the drivers are in a position to control. In many contexts, there is little difference in the circumstances of the drivers who own and operate their taxicabs and drivers who lease cabs from others, typically for a 12-hour shift. The median driver is a 47-year-old man who is a legal immigrant and a father of school age children, who works 72 hours per week, sometimes putting in 18 to 20 hour days. Most drivers have no health insurance and if their children are insured, it is often only because they are poor enough to qualify for state and federal health insurance. In addition, driving a cab involves serious occupational health and safety hazards. “Taxi drivers’ limp” is a condition caused by long hours behind the wheel using only the right leg. Back problems are extremely common. All this is compounded by L.S.’s well-known air pollution and its unusually hazardous roads and freeways. Some drivers experience ethnic discrimination, harassment from the Los Santos Police Department (LSPD), and company retaliation for organizing. LSTWA’s recent campaigns have benefited owners as well as lessees, but there are tensions between the two groups. While lease drivers may have lease rates cover access to the company’s dispatch system that handles requests for taxi cabs. This is the lifeline for drivers’ access to fares hopes of becoming owner-drivers in the future, in the short run they may not be willing to sacrifice time – which is money - to attend a meeting in search of possible long term gains. Many drivers we interviewed recall entering the taxi industry because of easy requirements, quick access to cash, and on what they thought of as a temporary basis -- only to find themselves still driving years later. In contrast to lessees, owner-drivers have a longer term commitment to the occupation.

  14. Short description: Adding text descriptions for vehicles, allowing players to further enhance the specifications of their vehicles Detailed description: This new addition would allow players to examine other players cars. This would increase the level of immersion allowed in roleplay scenarios, specifically those that revolve around car culture. It's just an addition to the attribute system, because if characters are allowed specific attributes, so should cars, because cars play a large part in a lot of character's personalities, and being able to display that personality on your vehicle in a clearer, more user friendly way, would definitely enhance the ability of these types of characters to develop and grow their car collection, and by proxy, their character identity. Commands to add: /vattributes, /vsetdamages, /vexamine [license_plate] Items to add: None How would your suggestion improve the server? Would make the car culture a lot more detailed, and would make it easier to play out specific details about one's car. It stops people from spamming out scenes at car meets to detail their cars. Would add a new level of detail to the roleplay, and increase overall immersion Additional information:

Short description: Make Tasers available outside of LEO's Detailed description: Providing security and civilians who don't want to own a firearm with the option of non-lethal takedowns would be far more realistic and some recent RP situations would have ended up with some very different results if security were given the tools they ICly should have to do their job. Commands to add: remove LEO restriction Items to add: None How would your suggestion improve the server? Realism - currently scenarios play out unrealistically because non-lethal options are not provided. Additional information:

  20. I tried to avoid this thread and just let wherever the wind blows to hopefully flesh this out to a respectable level, but it's only been degrading farther into something I cannot simply standby and not give a reply. As someone who has been here since 2018, working from my positions in this community including one of faction leadership of which I am (with the exception of I believe Roadtrain), one of the longest serving government faction leaders still currently active in this community I believe this gives me a rather unique faction leader perspective into events that transpire from above down to the rank-and-file membership of these factions. Let me just start out with saying, I'm extremely disappointed. This thread, extremely disappoints me, and not for the reason you may believe. I won't address the internal PD "realism," arguments because frankly they're tiring and every single person has a different version of what that even really means to the point it's not worth an argument. People will have opinions there, and they will fall where they may. Here is what disappoints me about this thread. It doesn't provide a single solution to what is the grievance. Really, it doesn't provide a single one. So it brings the question of what the purpose here really is. This thread, is a pity party plain and simple. Orchestrated as a group of dissatisfied individuals (rightly or wrongly), who are going to give a story most favorable to themselves for others to buy into. The Los Santos Police Department is one of the worst factions on this server. I believe the numerous general discussion threads, and private messages I receive from players across this community this is damn near indisputable and I for one won't defend it like it's not true as I never have. Now is this Roozles fault? No. It's been made that way over a long string of decisions over multiple administrations of this faction, and I have been one of the people on the forefront of attempting to change the culture (And still trying to change it.) That being said, there's a difference in how we go about it. Regardless of decisions made, if you truly care about the faction you would try to bring as much unity to the faction transition as you possibly can even if you hold private reservations. This is how governments have to handle transitions, for that same exact reason (US currently is an exception to the rule atm, but still.) Not a single reply from the original posts lend support to the new administration. Not a single reply from the original posts are encouraging to lower ranking members of the faction who simply want to enjoy their roleplay. Not a single reply from the original posts are here to stir confidence. The only thing this thread is here for, is to stir dissent. And this, is why I am most greatly disappointed. And if I were to go further, I would hope that if I ever did something like this in relation to my own faction towards LFM or Management in this manner, I would hope they would have the balls to remove me so fast and take away all my positions and @Notbond, @Nervous, @Sharvit can quote me on that and save it for future reference to show I'm not bullshitting. This is a time where we should be lending as much support to the LSPD as possible, in this transitionary period. Yet all that is being done, is an airing of dissent with absolutely nothing positive added to the conversation. If you want to fix/help the LSPD fix it's problems, be a part of the solution. Actually propose solutions that will get the faction to the state you wish to see it. Don't go through a mass pity party, gathering all your group of supporters, to then just disclose your grievances publicly simply for the sake of. @roozles, I say this with the greatest amount of respect to you as a person as I attempted and was working with you on improving this faction and have received praise from you for it, but if you seriously believe this was the correct way to handle this situation regardless of anything else, you deserved to be removed and honestly banned from gaining any faction leadership position in the future and anyone in high-ranking positions who followed deserve the same treatment. I am so disappointed, as I have defended quite a bit, but this is intolerable. And to those outside of faction just tuning in, simply ask this question. "Do you really think anyone willing to simply go about business in this manner, was truly the right choice for a leadership position of any kind?" My answer to that, and I'm willing for everyone to know it, is absolutely not. And that's all I have to say, as I will take further messages in my discord or TS if anyone wants more.
