  1. I skimmed over the thread and didn't read most of the replies so I apologize if I repeat any points that were made previously. The opinions shown here and my own and don't represent the opinions of the staff team. To give some context, I've consistently patrolled around the county as an LSSD deputy for the past few months. People that RP in the county, Paleto and Sandy in particular, will be able to back me up on that. From regular civilians to members of illegal factions, a lot of characters know my character and other deputies on a first name basis. Why? Because there are members of the LSSD that are pretty dedicated to patrolling and roleplaying in the county. In fact, the illegal factions out there have got pretty good at avoiding unmarked patrols and detectives because they recognize them from being out there a lot. On an OOC level, that's not exactly a bad thing because those factions are actually providing good roleplay. The county is covered better by the LSSD than most people think. Even during times where we have 5 or 6 units out there like the past two nights, it's still a huge area to cover. Prior to the holidays the county was covered pretty well too. The combination of a new illegal faction in the county and the LSSD being less active due to the holidays has resulted in a spike in crime. Someone brought that up IC and an IC decision was made to come up with a plan to deal with it. The county is quiet the majority of the time. The illegal factions keep things discreet on purpose. They're not the ones rolling around on dirt bikes robbing everything with a nametag above its head. It's simply not feasible to ask a player in the community to drive around a desert for 4 hours a day to try to stumble across the one or two robberies that happen in that time period. I personally don't mind doing it because my character knows a lot of people from Sandy Shores and Paleto Bay. I can just park up anywhere and solve my boredom by interacting with people. It's not like that for everyone in SD though. A unit was created to give perks like unmarked cars to people who do want to actively patrol the county and that has been successful so far. The degree of success some people are requesting on this thread is impossible to achieve without straying away from the LSSD's goal as a faction. We're there to provide realistic, enjoyable RP experiences. Stooping down to the level of the RP seen from a lot of these robberies goes against what we expect from our faction members. On the small chance that a robbery suspect is found, it's usually someone sticking to the meta that has been established. Fully upgraded BF 400, black clothing, helmet, gloves, mask. If you spot one, it either wheelies on the highway so it can reach 140 MPH or zooms up a hill where you can't follow. Air units have been used to try to counter this but we've had air units struggle to find the bikes even with a 30 second response time. Due to sync, it's difficult to find motorcycles from the air. This is especially true at night and in the desert. Sports cars and high end SUVs are also common. These vehicles are picked intentionally because they can outrun cops on the ground. Response times are longer too. There's been many situations where I've been patrolling in Paleto Bay and had to respond to Sandy Shores. Driving on either highway around Chiliad takes a few minutes. With such a massive area, this is always going to be the case. In the city, you can drive in a straight line to get to where you want. The response time in the city only takes more than two minutes if you're in Morningwood and the call is at the docks where the trucker job is. In the county, you have to really know which roads to take to get somewhere faster. Unless you're nearby, you'll only arrive on scene three to four minutes after the call is made. The majority of robberies that I have seen have been trash tier RP. There's been several attempts to rob gun stores. Most of those have either resulted in the robbers being chased away or admin punishments being issued. Someone legitimately tried to rob a gun store with a bat despite seeing three employees with guns and two other people inside. Both of those people were also armed so you can tell how that robbery attempt went. The player ended up getting banned due to having a poor admin record. The issue is players who are desperate for guns robbing people in the county because they're more likely to have guns. If people are willing to use bats to take on armed people for guns, it tells you the mentality of the people committing these robberies. Tackling it IC doesn't work. The LSSD has had at least five units covering the county during peak time for the past two days. There's been units covering the county before that too but I can't give exact numbers due to not being around myself. SD being present for the past two nights has resulted in no violent crime happening when SD is around. The night before last, three separate robbery crews were seen and decided to head back to the city after noticing unmarked units following them. Last night, these people didn't show up again. They wait for the people covering the county to log off. Just like other RP servers, the early morning hours can be crazy due to the lack of admin and police coverage. It's not something that can be solved IC. This particular issue has strayed into the territory of being an RP quality issue. The IC solution to the OOC problem doesn't work. With the RP Quality Team being closed recently, you have to rely on making regular reports to address it. Unfortunately most of the players that cause these problems take advantage of times when there's less admins and cops on so they've been getting away with a lot. When admins do respond, at least in my experience, punishments have been handed out. It's a big ask to get an admin to watch someone for a half hour when there's a lot of pending reports though. The best advice I can give is to record the robberies and report them. It's pretty easy to catch these people out for chain robberies if each report is documented.

  2. The reason they call Las Venturas “Sin City” dates all the way back to what most anti-mob experts would call the great mob immigration, the time of mobsters settling in Las Venturas to expand their ventures. One of the most notorious crews responsible for making Las Venturas what it is today was known as "The Buschettas", led by Benjamin Senior & Frank Buschetta. In their heyday throughout the late 1970s to early 2000s, they ran the town dry through their Redsands East drug distribution ring, gambling institutions, prostitution, money laundering schemes, and various other nefarious operations. The Buschettas were initially formed out of a bunch of small-time loose gangsters in 1960, led by the notorious mobster, Sylvester Buschetta. Who at the time, had received a promotion, and was commissioned to conduct business in Venturas by a Liberty City based family, called “The Messina Crime Family”. Their primary source of income is believed to have consisted of loan sharking, bootlegging, and shylocking. They later began working in a more organized manner, expanding into Redsands East, starting off with various schemes, most notably fixing baseball matches. It was an open secret, the only thing that stayed in Las Venturas. Sylvester was arrested during a raid at a local gambling parlor located on Escalante Ave called "The Sandpiper" while playing poker at the executive table; The parlor was later discovered to be one of the many establishments being extorted by The Buschettas. Sylvester was found guilty of numerous of murders, tax evasion, and perjury cases and was sentenced to life at a maximum-security federal penitentiary, starting his sentence in the summer of 1979. A few years later it was generally thought that skimming in Las Venturas had been defeated, with the successful prosecution of Sylvester Buschetta. Benjamin Senior and Frank Buschetta, the sons of the now “life time convict” Sylvester Buchetta, managed to come to an agreement with The Messina Crime Family and continued with their father’s operation but in a more vicious way, later getting their buttons sometime around 1986. Raymond Malasso, the up and coming nephew of the Buschetta brothers was amongst the most ambitious to work with the brothers, earning his keep as the top earner. Frank, and Raymond were the two new sheriffs of the baseball stadium, cashing nearly millions with fixed baseball match bets. However, a racial war broke out, between the Italians and Hispanics in the eastern territory of Venturas. An internal dispute between the Redsand Sore community concerning the variety of drug territories around the baseball stadium, and Redsand East. The Redsand area turned into a killing field, making it home now to the deadliest mass shooting in modern history of the city. Although Benjamin Sr, and Frank were warned not to sell any narcotics in the late eighties, because the commission of the five families in Liberty City passed on a rule that nobody’s entitled to distribute narcotics, because of the major threats they were facing by the government. It was at that time that surveillance bugging devices, Rico laws, and other methods were actively used by the FBI to target the mobs. Benjamin Sr’s drug operations that he ran in the shadows were compromised by none other than his own organization, and this lead him to his own demise. He was killed ironically at the very same gambling parlor and table where his father was arrested, receiving a bullet to the head after just having cleaned up the table. By that time, Frank had realized an uprising by the federal government to pull the rug from under the many mobs that had infested Venturas and invested a great sum of his money into various establishments scattered around Kansas, San Fierro and mostly the state of San Andreas, including Los Santos for money laundering purposes. The colorful mob era of Venturas has long since passed. Most wise guys lost their dignity and honor. Rico laws were passed on, surveillance bugging devices, all those things were constantly utilized against the mob, and it left the variety of criminal Italian American organizations severely vulnerable. Most mobsters felt they were being targeted by the government on daily basis, and most started confessing on each other, just to get a new identity and disappear with their loved ones. After long years of fighting, kidnappings, and homicides. The Hispanics vanished and abandoned their drug schemes around the baseball stadium in Rockshore East. The racial conflict was not much a thing any longer, and it was not for very long before either the DEA or FBI had busted down the doors of now small-time gangsters like Raymond Malasso, Christopher Fali, and Lorenzo Bunenno. Those three who were amongst some of the known cronies of The Buschettas, were imprisoned with drug trafficking, assault, and kidnappings charges. At the dawn of the new decade, Frank Buschetta was diagnosed with lung cancer, and the crew was somewhat left to dissolve after that, vanishing entirely by 2012. Frank was now considered a shredded member by The Messina Crime Family. A shredded member is what other anti-mob experts would call a retired mob member. After long years of spending thousands and thousands of dollars he had earned throughout the years on his cancer treatment, and suffering, Frank was left with nothing but a small book-keeping office on The Old Strip. With the hopes of re-establishing himself once more, and putting his brother’s son, Benjamin Junior through college, he reaches out to Raymond Malasso, who had just finished serving his jail sentence, to have him collect his laundered money from the establishments around the state of San Andreas in return for a percentage of the money. Raymond was quick to accept Frank’s idea and took the train to Los Santos to lookout after Frank’s business. Frank was hospitalized after a fatal lung failure due to his cancer in the summer of 2020, Benjamin Junior headed to Los Santos shortly after with the excuse of continuing education at ULSA, while in reality he got mixed up in Raymond’s business under Frank’s radar. During this time, Benjamin got to learn the ropes of the business thanks to Raymond. Benjamin was determined to live the high life, getting his hand on money with any means necessary. While earning a great sum of money, after an unexpected incident, Raymond Malasso is murdered by a local mob during a botched hit, sacrificing himself to save Benjamin. Following this incident, Benjamin had some of the key figures who were involved in the botched hit viciously killed. Raymond’s lack of presence began to become more and more obvious to the point where Frank was forced to head down to Los Santos to continue the business by himself. Frank knew what really drove him to stay in this line of work, his greed, and desire for money. Upon finding himself in the city of Los Santos, Frank began to round up the remnants of The Buschettas to try his path to glory once more. A collaborative effort between BadassBaboon & Jimmynutts

  4. Yuliy Safaryan is a young man born and raised in Volgograd, growing up in the harsh outskirts of the city was not easy. His family tried to escape the poverty-stricken city by immigrating to America, in search of the American dream and a better life, however on 01/05/2011 the visa for his family was denied due to his father having a criminal record, leaving the family stuck in their harsh world. When he was older Yuliy made his living as a taxi driver, but he abused his position to make some extra money. He would extort visiting tourists by overcharging them for the journey, threatening to have the police involved should they not pay, the tourists often wanting to avoid any trouble would grudgingly pay. During some jobs he became close friends with a pair of brothers Kirill and Slava, the pair were thieves, robbing tourists and stealing cars. Yuliy began helping the duo, being there escape driver, he would park a few streets away from where the duo were, and when ready Kirill would give him a call and he would get them out of dodge, for a cut of course. When Yuliy turned 25 and was an independent man living alone and providing for himself, still sick of the city he called home he thought he would take a chance and immigrate to America. Much to his joy this time he was accepted, thanks to the fact he is no longer associated to his father in all but name.

  5. Short description: For those without the platinum donator, I suggest that the server would have a service which will install CCTV outside businesses, cameras which others can see and RP. Detailed description: Commands to add: N/A Items to add: N/A How would your suggestion improve the server?: I've encountered in some situations when business owners want to RP having cameras outside their business, but because they don't have platinum, they have to inform the other RPers that there are cameras outside. Let's say in a crime hour when the owner is not around or when the RP is fast and there's no opportunity to drop that RP line of /do The place would have CCTV watching the outside entrance. For an example, a crime has been commited outside my business, and I couldn't give police the evidence, why? Becdause I don't have a platinum donator. I feel like there's at least someway to help business owners put only CCTVs. I have the feeling that creating a service of security cameras would bring in more realism into the server. I can't see how many clubs won't have CCTV outside like every realistic club alive. Additional information:

  6. Paul Longo is a soldier in the Colombo crime family (NYC) though operates in Los Santos, under capo regime Dominic Montemarano. His operations span out of Sabella's social club (Mirror Park) and his rackets primarily focus on murder-for-hire, armed robbery and loan-sharking. Paul Longo was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York to an underworld associated father and a stay-at-home mother. He was described as a relatively mediocre student but with a talent for sports, in particular ice hockey. Although it served him well in the hockey ring, Longo's overaggressive attitude and haste to solving issues with his fists led to an early high school exit and no college scholarship to the dismay of his mother. Longo had a job as an errand boy for local grocery owned by friend of his father and mafia inductee, Thomas Capelli. Under Capelli, Paul would begin regularly selling stolen cigarettes and liquor to his high school friends. It was here he would catch the attention of two integral players in his career of organized crime, Dominic Montemarano and Angelo Sisca. After the internal Colombo war, Montemarano proved to be on the winning side as a loyalist to Carmine Persico. It was here he would form his own crew in Los Angeles, taking Longo and Sisca across to the West Coast. It was in Los Angeles that Longo would receive his first criminal conviction for first degree assault. On the eve of the new millennia, Longo, Irishman Lenoard Collins and Colombo associates Louis Sabella and Robert Mazzari, were arrested by police for assaulting a local African-American drug dealer in Mirror Park. Collins, Mazzari and Sabella were sentenced to a year as no weapons were found on their persons, unlike Longo who was found in possession of a bat leading to three years incarceration. It is unsure as to when Longo received his knighthood in the Colombo organization. However, mafia experts believe it to be around the time of his release. And ever since his leave from prison, the Montemarano crew have flown under the radar, dabbling in low level criminal activities to avoid attention of federal agents. However, recent increases in organized crime in the West Coast, in particular the growth of a satellite crew from the Philadelphia crime family has seen Longo's resurgence. On January 22nd, Longo's long time mentor and capo, Dominic Montemarano, passed away due to a foreign flu. During his last few years, Montemarano had semi-retired in the Vinewood Hills leaving the day-to-day operations for both Longo and Sisca. Unbeknownst to Montemarano, the duo had been in long term discussions with Carroll Street through influential ex-Colombo captain, Carmine Lupo, regarding a merger between Philip Martorano's Philadelphia satellite crew. The demands from Carroll Street were straight forward: one of either Longo or Sisca must be on the panel of the newly formed borgata and 15% of all illicit earnings be returned to New York's hands. Sisca was brought forward to Martorano as his new consiglierie with Longo now taking role of capo regime in the newly formed family's Downtown crew. Unfortunately for Longo, these plans were put on halt after the murder of Anthony Limone, an associate of Longo's, slain for his disrespect of inducted Colombo member, Ernest Savona. Both Savona and Longo were arrested for the shooting alongside the clean up crew, Ronald Ganisa and Robert Bonfiglio. The latter three were offered an unrefusable plea by the District Attorney's LS office - Conspiracy of Second Degree Murder and six months incarcerastion with Savona choosing to stand trial, citing a lack of evidence. The news story of the trios' plea deal spiraled out of control with popular Los Santos News Network (LSNN) journalist, Victoria Miller, airing the story on primetime television. However, unknown to the newly formed crime family on the West Coast, Longo developed devious sexual relations with Miller and used her to damage the reputation of the DA's office claiming discrimination toward the Italian-American community. Miller revealed her undoubtable loyalty to Longo, feinting on television to avoid reading a statement to the article by the DA's office. As a result of Miller's media storm, on the 3rd January a march of over 30 stormed the courts demanding the release of Ernest Savona, orchestrated by the puppeteers behind the scenes, Longo and Sisca. (Thank you to the @The Dirty Dukefor your help with the formatting and layout. After a six month hiatus from the game, Paul Longo will be my new character going forward. This story will share personal character development, as well as screenshots from the The Philadelphia Connection faction thread.)

  10. As someone whose RP takes place in Blaine 95% of the time, this sure is an issue and comes in waves. Robberies sky rocket, then die down. Then they get out of hand again, and slowly die down again. However, it doesn't make it less of an issue. As it's been said in the thread already, this has been taken and addressed IC, making people organize IC as well. Constant flow of information, reporting suspicious activities happening, keeping and eye on unknown vehicles/people. All of it happened because of this, which in a way it's cool and creates some RP, but on the other hand it became such a hassle that nightlife around Sandy in particular almost died, with people even refusing to drive around just to not become a target. It doesn't make sense to me for someone to come up JUST to get a quick lick and then go back into the city with whatever they got from it, when they can get the same outcome or even a better one a few blocks away from their main area of roleplay. Considering how most of Blaine characters I know are, even if they robbed them they wouldn't get that much. If I'm not wrong, I think SD even went ahead and created the CPU or Crime Prevention Unit just to address this issue and try to mitigate it; However, as most of us, people can't be IG 24/7, so sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, hence why characters are taking the matter into their own hands, which causes what was mentioned before: Character being pushed and forced into militancy. As it has been mentioned, I've even witnessed and taken part myself in pulling up to someone sketchy with two trucks full of people and "pressing" them JUST to see who they were and what intentions they have; which usually ends up with locals either grouping up to be safe, or someone "running" said people out of Blaine (or Sandy, in particular). Most times is not even your or your character's lack of awareness. I've been robbed before, next to two businesses while close to midnight. Can't say it was enjoyable, but I went with it. However I've seen and heard about attempts during both day time and night time, in front of businesses that realistically would either have cameras or people in and around, next to people's places, next to roads, etc. This made characters to always be in touch about anything that looks remotely sketchy. Sometimes I've even witnesses trucks packed up with people roaming around or pulling up to a friend's or neighbor's place or location JUST to make sure they were alright. Sometimes, even trying to have some passive RP to relax or just develop your character or meet people gets disturbed because you get a call/text about someone being robbed/about to be robbed and in need of help, which causes a chain of calls and text to bring people along just to help; Or texts about "I've seen X going around trying car doors and houses, keep an eye out". Those are more common than they should be. The fact that is happening IC and being addressed IC, doesn't make it less of an issue. Most times it's an asset-chase, or feels like it, and thus Blaine, given the lower playerbase + lower LEOs presence becomes the perfect playground for this type of things to happen.

  11. There is a difference between "less law in the county and easier targets" and an overall OOC play-to-win mentality to prefer player-wise remote areas that would realistically be crowded from time such as the LS docks area, the county or generally out in public during the early time of the day at broad daylight with less players and thus also less law enforcement on the streets. If you scout out your area, set up ambushes and actively take advantage of the environment realistically (e.g. remote county road) providing proper roleplay, there is no problem. But if you, as a Davis gang banger on an unregistered BF400, zoom out to Sandy Shores to chain rob people at their porch with "/me aims gun, /b /showinv" at broad daylight, it becomes an issue and is pretty much just a straight up play to win mentality to gather assets.

  14. Short description: If the police use a public address system, within X radius, if a house door exists, the occupants inside get the megaphone message. Detailed description: Often times the police will utilize a public address system to gain compliance from barricaded suspects. As it currently stands, this method cannot be employed without the use of /pm for correspondence. Sending public address system messages to houses in range would easily fix this issue. Also, if for some reason the police or any member of emergency service needs to evacuate an area (Say a bomb threat for example), public address system orders to occupants of that street can be used and houses in that vicinity would be notified of the threat and to evacuate. The implementation is simple, radius around the police vehicle, if house door in radius, forward /m to occupants like /dshout. Commands to add: None. Items to add: None. How would your suggestion improve the server? Realism should be the forefront of our goals for development on this server. This suggestion adds a realistic feature which can be of benefit to criminals, LEOs and even innocent civilians. Being able to hear the public address systems from your house is entirely realistic. Additional information: I suggested this on LS-RP a year or so ago and they were able to implement it without any issue. As far as I know, they still use this feature to their advantage actively today, although I don't play there anymore so I can't be sure.

  15. Police Artist drawing from mugging incident- Volgograd 23/06/2011 Kirill Sorokin and his family are from Volgograd, one of Russia’s most important industrial powerhouses. Growing up on the outer edges of the city poverty was rife, the men working long hard days in factories and chemical plants while the stayed women at home taking care of the children. Kirill and his younger brother Slava did not have the best upbringing, ever cast in their oldest Sister Natasha’s shadow. Kirill and Slava where forced into labour at a young age doing mediocre jobs in the plant factories, crawling into small spaces, attaching small bolts, their child hands being put to good use. Natasha however received better treatment, being the family’s ticket to a higher class. In school Natasha excelled, outshining the rest of the pupils, receiving great commendations from teachers, and students alike. Her parents put all their spare money into Natasha’s health and education, feeding her more food than her brothers, buying her new books leaving Kirill and Slava with hand me downs, and worn clothes. This reality carried on into Kirill’s mid-teens where he began to forge his own path along with his younger brother, sick of his parents neglection, rather than following his Sister up the ladders of greatness, he stepped down the stairs into the criminal underworld. He began creeping the streets at night mugging and robbing helpless tourists, with his partner in crime Slava. During his time, he made some close friends in the underworld, not just associates friends for life, Yuliy Safaryan and Fyodor Arseneyev. Yuliy was the duo’s close friend and means of escape, Yuliy was a corrupt cab driver, extorting tourists by overcharging, and pickpocketing, he helped the duo by picking them up a few streets away after the incident. This continued for some years, the duo delving deeper and deeper into the void of crime. They progressed from street muggins to grand theft auto. However, their small criminal world was flipped upside down. By the time, the duo was in their twenties, the unlawful brothers were experienced in their craft, what was once a side job, was now a profession. The duo was stalking a well-dressed middle-aged couple, they clearly had some money, the perfect target, Kirill and Slava waited till the couple reached a dark spot, then they attacked. They done the same thing each time, Kirill would do the talking, Slava would stand behind them ready to strike if necessary. Unfortunately, the man had company, before Kirill could even finish his first sentence, there was a thundering boom, too stunned to speak all he could see was Slava’s shocked face, and a thin line of blood dripping down from the small hole in his head. His brother collapsed to the floor; all Kirill could do is watch as the well-dressed man nodded his head to two burly fellows dressed in black behind him. Kirill ran like a coward, chased by the two men he used his knowledge of the streets to his advantage evading death, leaving his poor younger brother behind. Upon returning home he told his parents everything, they blamed him for his brother’s death, they told him it was all his fault, he should never have gotten into crime. Kirill pleaded for their forgiveness and their mercy, but he was shunned, they disowned him. They did not call the police for they did not want to ruin their precious daughters’ reputation, in fact they wanted nothing to do with Kirill or Slava at all anymore. Guilt ridden, Kirill stopped his crimes, he went back to labour work, landing a job in a chemical plant, he tried his best to live a regular life, constantly reminded of his actions, having friends helped distract him, but in the end, he was still alone, he needed to leave this city, start a fresh, leave behind what once was. Now Kirill is 28 years old, it has been 7 years since the incident. Seeing online that there was an influx of people going to America looking for work, he began saving what money he could, starving himself some nights for that little bit of extra money. He applied for a working visa in America putting down that he has experience in plant production and factory work. After a lot of fees and meetings in the US Embassy in Volgograd his working Visa was accepted, this was it, his escape, his fresh start, his chance at living a life far from his guilt, and far from crime. He packed little what possessions he had, resigned from is job, said his farewells to Yuily and Fyodor and left Russia, ready to start his new life. He does not know just how deluded he is... 16. If the lack of Sheriff Department personel showing a presence in the vicinity of Sandy Shores, Grapeseed, Paleto bay or just the county in general upsets you, I urge anyone and everyone to bring it up ICly. There's unfortunately little that can happen realistically through OOC means. There's a plethora of channels to voice your concerns ICly. Not only will it promote more roleplay on your side, but also give those involved in the Govt. faction an issue to discuss, declare and roleplay! We have the infastructure ICly to deal with situations such as this.
