  3. Short description: Shot spotters on some streets, CCTVs on some streets and fingerprints on bullet casings. Detailed description: A lot of shots go off unnoticed in populated areas, these shot spotters would aid the LSPD in combating crime whilst also preventing shootouts from happening every hour. CCTV also does the same as this except it obviously helps with all sorts of crime, even aids investigations. However it should be limited to only a few streets. Fingerprints should automatically be on bullet casings which are found on the ground after crime scenes unless specifically rp'd that gloves were used to load the magazines of the weapons. This prevents a lot of unnecessary gun violence and DM. How would your suggestion improve the server? It prevents gun violence happening at an unrealistic and over exaggerated scale and it's also very realistic.

  4. I won't name any particular names, but the majority of the problems occurring in Vespucci in my opinion, are a result of the local skinhead mafias who try to shake down lifeguards, gut / shoot people at the skate park, and generally go out of their way to drive away 'non locals' who come down to roleplay on the beach, or at the park. I've seen characters KILLED over a few words to those in question, and I think it's honestly worth a look-at from IFM if it's hurting the overall quality of the district / hub. I'd think that quality roleplay and the ability to have fun in an area that the lifeguards, and a few other people are trying VERY hard to populate is more important than a group of people being able to flex on passersby. Maybe I'm wrong, but that's my take on it. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ edit: It's worth noting that my roleplay has been almost exclusively in vespucci for the past month or so, so I see what I see on a regular basis.

  6. This might be a little extreme but extortion should generally have more rules to it. Right now you have groups of random dudes walking down every business in sight going 'ey boss we offer u protection, if u decline ur in trouble' which is borderline retarded and unrealistic. One business can get multiple of these a day even. You as a business owner or employee can't do shit about it unless you have ties to some illegal group that will back you up. (yes you can accept one of their offers and have a gang war unfold on your lot because another group tries to extort you) Only factions that are clearly serious and have their own thread should be allowed to practice extortion and have some sort of reasoning behind it. And only on a limited amount of businesses/ones that would make sense to extort (if they're in the area where the faction operates etc).

  8. So hello, I recently noticed a rule that was ideal for the server back in the day to have realism within companies. But no it is no secret the population of the server has grown, with that companies have become older and need to operate more efficiently. My suggestion goes to the rule that states that one Business can have only 1 script. I would suggest that the slots to be increased by one depending on how old your company is in terms of real life years. WHy should it take time? Well because it shows consistency and activity therefor I see this as a valid measuring idea. For example my company was opened in April 2019 it didnt operate fully until july perhaps. Now we have 1 year with this company it has members in the management team, and members in the board of directors. The tasks are much more with more people to handle. I think that giving companies opportunities of growth incentivize business owners and show some history in the server as in how companies grow and so on like they do in real life. TL:DR Basically atm ther eis a rule that states you can only have 1 script per business. I seek to have that rule modified perhaps to us who have been here for too long and have the chance to expand since we are stuck.

  9. ROLEPLAY QUALITY!!!! It's inconvenient to have our profits bitten into by people who muscle their way into our happy and peaceful little RP scenes. However, the proverbial wrench being tossed into the plans could, and should serve as an entire new avenue to take our characters down, and bring with it a host of obstacles to navigate through. It brings a sense of danger and fear that grip us, and leaves us with the burning dilemma of whether or not we should stay under someone's thumb, or take it to a higher authority. And in this decision, our actions have very real consequences to these characters we play. It's what you make of it. But on the subject of poorly executed extortion plots - you have a few options. One: Report it for poor quality. Unpleasant RP in which we lose in scenarios can stink, but it can add to character development. However, we shouldn't be subjected to poor RP standards and half-assed attempts. High profit illegal schemes such as extortion should come with high effort and quality, and a degree of creativity so that all those involved can take something away from it and enjoy the opportunities it brings. Two: Message the person after and rather than go off on them about how shitty it was, maybe try to explain how they might improve the quality of their RP. There are people who like feedback and will welcome it if it's given in a good tone and a constructive manner. This isn't to say tell them not to extort, or use it to barrage them with passive aggressive remarks. When I say be constructive, think about it as trying to actually help them. Give them some ideas that they might take away and use later on. And if they aren't receptive to it, then go back to option 1. Three: Take it on the chin, say nothing, handle IC, and let the people continue on doing the same poor RP which is, (potentially) unknown to them, less than enjoyable. Four: Cry. Cry like a big ol' baby and hope someone hears you. They won't of course. I don't suggest this one personally, I wasted an entire Tuesday this way. I suggest one or two.

  10. Don't you think that if Vespucci has become a high crime area in-character that maybe it should be handled accordingly? If we wanna speak on realism what's stopping someone from shooting someone in broad day light? There's a lot of people in this world that would if the money's right or emotions are just too high, people who don't think about consequences; also known as criminals. Why aren't they being caught in game? I think if anything this opens opportunity for the police department and creates a great experience for them. Maybe a specific branch or unit needs to be created to crack down on the crime that's rampant in a specific area? I think personally there are many ways you can combat this and taking a in-character approach in my opinion is the best option here. Instead of complaining about where crime is happening, why isn't it being stopped?

  12. Hi, Lifeguard Chief here. Vespucci is the wild-west. It's pretty bad - I tried establishing some laws down there with the last Government and got ignored, so hopefully we can get somethings sorted down there when the new mayor is in town. The amount of robberies, driving on the civilian walk-ways, taxing of the skate-park/gym and just general behaviour down the beach is pretty poor. If we base the server off of, "you wouldn't rob someone on the highway" and such, then the beach should also be included in that, in my opinion. The same goes for people taking their sports cars on the sand - we're trying very hard to bring the activity to the beach and nearly getting run over by cars on the civilian foot paths is a frequent thing. The amount of murder and crime that happens at the skate-park is pretty ridiculous considering a police station is thirty feet away. There are TWO police stations on Vespucci/Del Perro Beach. The one in the center of the beach by the skate-park and the one you mentioned on the pier. (people seem to forget about this place when they shoot someone at the skate-park for refusing to pay $100 to use it) This beach is based off of Santa Monica - obviously we can't fill it with activity like it is in real life but stuff like taxing the skate-park, gym. Murdering someone or robbing them in daylight is pretty unrealistic. Have some videos that happens daily down there: https://streamable.com/omxync https://streamable.com/m5yb0x

  14. Hi, I run MRCAD (Media Relations & Community Affairs Division) who are the guys you see interacting with the community in polo shirts, or possibly even wearing shorts and riding bicycles like suggested in this thread. Vespucci Beach is an area of interest for us because part of our roleplay is emulating the 'beach cops' and 'bike cops' you see. As with everything on the server, however, we have to balance what we do with the number of people we have and the number of people who are roleplaying in said area. Vespucci is definitely a hot area, but the beach isn't always being used and as such we don't have a dedicated 'Beach Patrol', simply the option for our Community Relations Officers to patrol it using a variety of methods ranging from foot to a pickup truck to navigate the sand. We're always looking for feedback, however, so if you do feel that the Vespucci Beach area is being neglected and could use some improvement I'm more than happy to take specific suggestions for improvement via PMs so that I can make sure we follow up on them. I like the idea of using the small station there as a mini-base for our beach officers, however, we've also got to justify the amount of work that will go into creating it with how much it'll realistically be used. Nevertheless I'm going to put it on the agenda for our division to discuss and possibly push up the chain to our faction leadership if we think we could justify it.

  17. Hey, just a simple thing to do, so I do not need to report it all the time - There is a PD substation (Santa Monica Pier Police Substation) in front of Out of Towners (Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. Restaurant), so for the name of realism and immersion - stop attacking people in front of the station all the time. Not only during the evening but also on broad daylight. It is not realistic. And not only people attacking others, but also steal cars from the front of a police station.

  18. As said earlier in the thread, my biggest issue is that people are just not realistically roleplaying having any fear of consequences with their extortion attempts. People are abusing the fact that our server's heavy roleplay standard has crippled our LEO factions ability to enforce on extortion. In real life, getting caught extorting a business can easily put you away for 10 or more years for a first offense. In our server, it takes 5-10 minutes to do an extortion RP, but it takes 10s of hours for detectives to investigate it and put together a casefile. Meanwhile, during the creation of a casefile, all witnesses and the detectives are subject to PKs/CKs, and the criminals continue going along doing their unrealistic and braindead roleplay. I know plenty of business owners in Los Angeles, and trust me, not a single one of them, not one no matter the neighborhood, has ever been extorted by any criminals. Tony Spaghettio never walks in going "ayyy we gotta talka ta the owna." No one ever gets kidnapped by Jakov and Petko because they didn't pay the rakia tax. No one, not a single one of them, has had their employees roughed up, their businesses burned down, or guns waved around in their businesses. The current state of extortion RP on GTA:W is very much uncreative, unrealistic, play-to-win, stereotypical, outdated, and system-abusing. There is a prevalent lack of roleplayed fear, there are almost no tenable IC consequences and so criminals go hog wild with stupid extortion attempts which have no place on a heavy RP server set in a major American city in 2020. If I had a rule to suggest? It's that criminals cannot extort a business unless that business already has criminal connections. Period. Because that's how it works in real life in 2020 Los Angeles. If you're a squeaky clean business with no criminal contacts and you don't do anything illegal, guess what, the local car boosting gang isn't going to risk 10+ years in prison each and having their entire operation shut down because they went after you for $250 a week. If you're a crooked business and have mob friends, run gambling games out your back room, and sell drugs in take-out bags, then hell yes the mob is going to extort you. Real life criminals rely on mutually assured destruction to do their business. You won't report them because they have just as much dirt on you as you do on them. GTA:W criminals rely on the fact that they can easily kill and PK anyone because smash and grabs are super easy on the server and the odds of them being caught are significantly lower than in real life, and the odds of them being investigated are almost infinitely lower than in real life. Finally, from an OOC perspective, it's a matter of courtesy. Some people RP legal characters and enjoy the experience of RPing an unaffiliated character who doesn't engage in the criminal ecosystem. They put in a lot of time and effort in setting up a business, applying for it, staffing it, opening it, creating graphics and forum posts for it, so on and so forth. Then criminals show up for some unrealistic extortion RP and get to essentially hijack their RP. From that point on, the business owner's choices are to A) Pay up (AKA: you're getting robbed but for some reason it doesn't follow robbery rules), B) Go to the cops and risk being kidnapped/CK'd, C) ??? Constantly deal with criminals harassing you and your business and making it unfun to roleplay until your character gets kidnapped/CK'd??? I'm not arguing that criminals should not do crime on legal roleplays, so please don't take it that way, but I am arguing that mafias shouldn't be able to hijack the roleplay of other player's RP projects as easily and inconsequentially as they do now. @KV

  24. You have zero idea what you're talking about. He didn't get 9 days for conspiring to kill a legal business owner. It was part of a whole sting operation where he conspired, with the person he was extorting, to murder someone at the behest of the extortion victim. The case is more elaborate than you're giving it credit for and I suggest you go read it over before throwing out misinformation like that. Also there's tragedy all over this thread--people taking simplified summaries and running with them as if those summaries could draw light to the facts and specific and different circumstances surrounding every individual case of [attempted] extortion. The fact that the example where a player, John Reynolds, is literally rule breaking to avoid roleplaying as an extortion victim yet is somehow getting sympathy points from others is mind-boggling.

  25. So let me break your question down bit by bit! After the scene, do player B, C and D still know each other, but just forgetting the murdering scene? You're partly correct here - the only one that forgets the murder scene is Player B as he was PK'd - however they forget who was murdered. Can Player A and B roleplay again, as if they were strangers? Yes they can! What about other members of A's faction, do B know them or is dead for them too? Once Player A kills Player B, their interaction before the Murder is forgotten. This means they must roleplay as they don't know each other and restart their knowledge of each other. Hope this helps and anymore questions from this I can try and clear them up for you.

  26. When did RP turn into a one way railroad that is dictated by the administrators? Why are certain situations not allowed to be RP'd because the admin thinks they are "unrealistic". RP used to be a fun and immersive experience that required a lot of effort to perfect. Since when did we have to have all these limits on what we can RP, what we can't RP, what is "realistic" (I put this between quotation marks because realistic is such a subjective thing that differs from one person's knowledge and cultural/social experiences from the others.I.e an american would have a much better idea at how americans act in real life than a european). I haven't participated in Gang RP since 2018 but I know that if done correctly it can be one of the best RP experiences someone can ever have. You shouldn't get banned because you killed somebody that was resisting or not following commands during a mug, you shouldn't get banned for falsely killing someone you thought was the enemy (this happens all the time IRL and it is embraced in the areas where this happens). I also don't like the fact that Resident (who I am very familiar with and know his antics) is being let back after what he has done while some other RPers who have done far less than him are being told to shut up and wait their ban time out. What I also don't like is the discouragement towards new players who simply get banned because they never RP'd before, I mean how else is a new player supposed to be introduced to RP? If this was done to me when I first came into the scene it would have immediately put me off RP in general and think of it as something not that fun. I suggest Admins host RP schools on a weekly basis with the help of experienced communities to actually help teach these people the basics, and maybe we can have different more specific RP schools like gang RP, LEO RP, business RP, Gov RP etc... The fact that sooo many limits on what you can RP and how you can RP it are being put is leaving a very bad taste in every creative RPer's mouthes. Pedophiles should get banned yes, but don't make an entire section of the community that never engaged in such acticlvities take the fall for it as well. Gang RP os as crucial to the illegal scene as the employee base for the legal scene. They are the ones that it boils all down to, the ones that fight in the trenches and what do they get met with? The OOC hard end of the stick. Come on you mallrats give these guys a break, you all run around in your highly modified rally race cars at 20 years old owning what should be a multi-million dollar club and 16 properties and cars with no financial repercussions at all, the gang RPers are just trying to RP what they like the most, you will be hypocrites to say that gang RP is the worst aspect of the server and most unrealistic because a lot of you mallrats are actually some of the shittiest RPers I have ever seen, you just don't post it on a platform like gang RPers do in the illegal thread section.
