  1. Hi everyone! As you probably know, I was promoted to Management at the beginning of this month and was given Head of Player Management position. And well, now is the time to explain how it is going to work. First of all, Player Management, as I've already explained before, is going to be a sub-team responsible for handling Roleplay Quality Reports and for helping players improve their roleplay. Let's start with the reports. Roleplay Quality Reports are to be used when another player's roleplay is unacceptably poor. This kind of report is something that we've had ever since GTA World has launched, but it was barely used. I've reworked some parts of the system(there will no longer be three warnings, punishment will depend on each situation, it can vary from a simple warning to a ban) and the biggest change is that it's going to be handled only by Player Management members. Now about the team. A couple of staff members have already shown interest and they were accepted and that's pretty much where it stops. This sub-team will not have a big amount of members and we will always be working as a team in order to avoid misjudgement and other mistakes. It means that we will discuss every report and decide what kind of actions to take together. Check out the report topic and from now on if you bump into anyone whose RP quality is not acceptable - drop me a PM and we'll sort it all out.

  2. History This faction is a collection of people joined together in a single community hub that is Sandy Shores. Our main inspiration is this and our aim is to portray small town America in our own unique fashion. We wish for players to use this faction as a blank slate to let their creative juices flow; allowing people to roleplay the character of their dreams that they never had the chance to do so before. We're based on character development, that's why let you do anything you want, as long as you do it realistically, and have fun. A relationship between our character is not mandatory, as I said, we're a community, not a gang or a mafia, so we don't really have to know eachother in order to roleplay. We encourage and help anyone who will start a business in the Shores, especially the unique ones. NOTES:RESPECT ALL THE FORUM AND IN GAME RULES. YOU MAY POST SCREENS ON THE THREAD, THERE'S NO PERMISSION, AS LONG AS YOU ROLEPLAY IN SANDY SHORES, YOU CAN POST SCREENS.

  4. Sun Yee On (Chinese: 新義安), or New Righteousness and Peace Commercial and Industrial Guild, is one of the leading triads in Hong Kong and China. It has more than 55,000 members worldwide. It is also believed to be active in the United Kingdom, the United States, France, Belgium and the Netherlands. Sun Yee On was founded by Heung Chin. The organisation is involved in counterfeiting, gambling, narcotics, human trafficking, prostitution, smuggling and extortion. Mainly through ethnic Chinese diaspora, it is thought to extend to the United States, Canada, Thailand, Australia, South Africa and Central America. Sun Yee On has become very dangerous. Wei Tong grew up in Hong Kong, China. He grew up with a lot of his friends in Hong Kong and his friends were involved with the Triad before Tong was. When Tong became older he started to get involved with the Sun Yee On and their operations in Hong Kong. Tong quickly rose through the ranks in the triad, his friends started calling him Mr.Tong, Tong was ordered by a 438 which is also known as a Deputy Mountain Master to move up to the states and set up work there. Tong listened to his Mountain Master and had his men get him into the states illegally. When Tong got to the states he started drug trafficking to earn as much money as he could. He contacted his 438 Lee Tai-lung Lee letting him know that he was in the states successfully after that his 438 Lee Tai-lung Lee let him know what to do next. Wei Tong did not have a easy life in Hong Kong, nor did he in the states, he learned that Los Santos was not easy cash flow as he thought it would be, Tong made money but it wasn't as easy as he thought it would be. He knew he had to do whatever just to make money to get started in the states. Wei started taking out bank loans, performing illegal gambling and other illegal activities to just get by. Surprisingly it worked out in his favor, he was getting more money than the average working person. He called up some old buddies from the states to help him out and they agreed. Wei Tong kept working everyday to just earn a name in the states.

  5. As others have said, this really isn't an issue. Let people be free to build and create RP as they please. Sure, you might find it a bit odd when someone tells you their Sultan is a Subaru Impreza, but it's really not a problem and for the player it's most likely allowed them to go far more in depth with their car and its parts and generate more roleplay. If people were making adverts for their cars with the real life counterpart and not clarifying the brand or identifying other players' vehicles as a real life brand that's more problematic, but it's really not a big issue and not even occurring at this point. The focus on an RP server is simply to create interesting, compelling and consistent characters and stories, and if using real life brand cars helps enhance that in the player's eyes then all power to them.

  6. A 'problem'. Rustem returns to the town after a long while, only to find out that his great nephew's been slacking off, lost his sense of priorities & being absolutely disrespectful. He meets Bekim talking about the problem, who calls John assisting the family in tracking him down, and everyone pays him a 'visit'.

  7. The concept of roleplay is to adapt to your surroundings and base your character's reactions on said surroundings. It's easy to identify between a good roleplayer who understand what they're talking about or what they're doing from someone who is literally replicating something they saw on TV, bit by bit. I could watch a film and replicate the names of cars, the companies, names, locations, everything. Or I could create a scenario that's genuine, with resources that are available to me, in addition to my knowledge of these resources. Point I'm trying to make is that you can tell who's a good roleplayer based on what they know about the game they're playing on, instead of acknowledging poor roleplay from someone who can't adapt to their surroundings and act accordingly. This post made absolutely no sense. Gun brands exist, like Hawk & Little, Coil (also car manufacturer) and Shrewsbury, though I recently found out that Power Metal and Vom Feuer are also gun manufacturers. Most people call guns by nicknames or alternate names anyway, so it doesn't matter. The performances of the guns differ to real life though if I'm not mistaken. Agreed. We have LTDs and Coffee Bean, thus we have no reason to rolepaly STP or Starbucks or whatever. From my perspective as a roleplayer and former admin, roleplaying a car for what it's not is powergaming and metagaming. The performance and appearance of cars in GTA V are never completely accurate in terms of replicating their real life influences. Like I said above, people who aren't aware of simple things such as their surroundings (e.g. if you're in a bar, you're exposed to a LOT of brands written right in front of you) are not good roleplayers. They replicate what they know or see in real life or on TV, instead of adapting. It's the same as someone who creates a mafia after watching Godfather or The Sopranos, or a street gang after watching Kidulthood or Straight Outta Compton. We praise genuine roleplay here. We're roleplaying Los Santos, not Los Angeles. The universe in GTA V is different to real life, but the universe in our server is parallel, yet different, to GTA V.

  8. An Italian male, born in Sicily, who lived almost his entire life across the country moves to Los Santos, San Andreas on his own. Taking this big risk on his shoulders, he doesn't know if he would even survive. He is willing to do anything to pay the bills of his cheap rented apartment. Throughout his first week, he managed to rent a car with the money he brought in with him. The driving license was not cheap at all but he got it in the end. He didn't eat too much at the beginning but the start is always hard. The money started to fade slowly. Managed to put all of them together, got a few small jobs and got himself a cheap car. His first ever achievement in the new state. It was a sunny start of the week, evening, he was driving his car throughout the town looking for jobs. Runs into an LS Customs. He was interested in spraying his car. I know what you'd think, "this guy is crazy, can't afford to eat but sprays his car." - He drove into the compound where he met two Italian males. One was definitely a mechanic because he was doing all the work there, including his respray. The other one looked like he was waiting for someone or something. While he was waiting for the car to be done he got into some talks with the other Italian man, found out his name was Alberto. He heard the Italian language for the first time in a long time. Found out more about the Italian businesses around the town and managed to find a place that he'd call Little Italy from now on.

  10. MOSCOW What is Moscow? Moscow is an organisation whose goal is to broker deals between parties. The organisation's involvement in a deal virtually guarantees its success and is run entirely on word of mouth. Moscow operates with a brutal lack of mercy and conscience. Moscow was started as a continuation of an organisation originally started in the United Kingdom. Operations Moscow operates through a series of contractors and anonymous third parties. It uses both legitimate and illegitimate methods to achieve its aims, from social engineering to extortion and murder. Contractors & Associates Moscow has need for people with skills from every walk of life - both legal and illegal. This includes lawyers and mechanics, to forgers and contract killers. If you have the skill necessary for Moscow, you will be approached by an associate who will introduce you to the organisation. Requesting a deal To request a deal, the appropriate member of a group or organisation must do one of two things. Firstly, if said member has never interacted with Moscow before, they must find someone who has. Once they have made contact with the relevant Moscow contact, a dead drop will be arranged. This includes the key details of the deal - who, what, where, when - and why Moscow's intervention is required. The aforementioned member will then be approached if the deal is deemed to be beneficial and will be given a burner cellphone which must only be used for the duration of the deal. If the organisation has previously dealt with Moscow and is trusted, they will be given a method of contact. Once the details of the deal have been arranged and confirmed, any party that attempts to cancel the deal or double cross any other party will have the relevant members executed along with their family and friends. If any law enforcement agency or other irrelevant party is made aware of the deal, the offending party will have its relevant members executed, and anybody else who is aware of the deal is executed. Once the deal is carried out, the initiating party must deliver the payment to a pre-determined spot within forty-eight hours. Failure to do so carries the same penalty as attempting to terminate the deal. Identities All contractors and associates of Moscow operate under assumed identities that are provided at the start of a contract. Once the job is complete, these identities are erased. All identities provided by Moscow are back-stopped and guaranteed to be secure. If an identity is compromised through no fault of the holder, the holder of the identity is guaranteed free and safe transport out of the country within twenty four hours. If the compromise is the fault of the holder's, they are executed. Deals To Date: - To Be Completed

  11. Hey friends! The truth is that I've been thinking about it for a while and decided to open up this thread. The staff team is investing a lot of time here to give us the best possible gaming experience, and I thought that right after we went to RageMP and we've had a lot of problems lately, it's time to thank them. Just like that, just thanks! Thank you for investing your free time for us, thanks to the entire team of developers, administrators, testers and anyone who helps to make this community be good as it is. I'm sure there are others who want to say a formal thank you and that's why I opened this cluster. This community is amazing thanks to you and you all! :) #GTAWorld

  15. I'm fine with using IRL brand for objects that do not exists or have a specific brand, like cigarettes, guns, drinks. But for vehicles, I'd say that's a no-no and we should stick to the lore.
    1 point
  16. I don't see the issue. It doesn't affect me at all if someone wants to say their Buffalo is a Mustang or their Bagger is some sort of Harley. Obviously that person shouldn't be pointing at your Buffalo and insisting it's a Mustang but I haven't seen anyone doing that personally. Any confusion can easily be cleared up with a simple line of text.

  18. Not really. I'm pretty sure a lot of people advocating for it are from another -now closed- server because it was a "rule" there. I don't see an issue with letting people roleplay what they want, real-life or GTA Universe. It was left open without a rule for a reason, surely because some people aren't lore experts, and shouldn't have to be just to roleplay. Those people more than likely don't know the less common GTA brands (e.g Sessante Nove) and would prefer to use the real-life counterpart. It's purely preference, and I believe people should leave it at that.

  19. It's not supported by Rage yet. I've seen mentions it might come with their major 0.4 update

  20. Personally I don't like when people use IRL brands and name's that's why I don't use them myself. I think we should use the brands provided, and only use the irl brands as an insperation for what the vehicle performs like. For example I would still call my Hermes and Hermes, however I can look at what it is based off to RP that it is a 1940 car with x amount of bhp. In my opinion this simply helps me with immersion on the server rather than some people saying mustang and some saying buffallo

  22. You think it's Mustang. Someone else comes in commenting on your nice Dodge. Another guy comes saying it's a Buffalo. Mixing everything up is just confusing. Also I don't think laws fall into this category.

  23. I personally don't see how it'll affect your heavy roleplay experience if somebody decides to roleplay their Buffalo as a Mustang. Most people are not so aware of the game brands and most of the server probably neglects those brands, it's a mix of both. I don't see why it shouldn't be allowed to use both in-game brands and real-life brands. People want to experience a bit of the real life as much as possible, the same way if PD bases themselves off of LAPD which I might be wrong or not, I'm not sure if they do or not. But, the laws also. They're all based on real life, so if you want people to stop using real-life brands you'd have to create a whole new reality in the server. Why would you be able to base yourself off of real-life laws and not real life brands, it's the same idea. Heavy roleplay doesn't necessarily mean immersing yourself with GTA V's atmosphere and using all of their game brands.

  24. 18/06/18 - REFERENCE: TS-180618-0001 Returning to town, once of Spencer's associates is hit by a vehicle that fails to stop. Having only a photograph of the offending vehicle, it is Spence's goal to find the offender. After Spencer's associate was sent to hospital, Spencer's goal was to find someone with no connections to the incident. After locating a suitable candidate, Spencer uses one of Moscow's fronts to draw up fake documents for an insurance policy. Posing as associates from an insurance company, Spencer and the candidate utilise social engineering to obtain the necessary details from the police department. https://imgur.com/a/ZS52Z3z

  25. Hmm the Charger still looks more like the Buffalo S. But again: the mere fact we're having this conversation just goes to show why Aquila's right on the money ^^' The solutions we seem to have are: A) Use an RL model even though there is an in-game equivalent, thus leading to confusion and unnecessary discussions/debates about which is which or B) Just use the goddamn existing in-game model and be done with it, with 0 loss in RP complexity and depth. :p

  26. No. This has nothing to do with Heavy RP. Heavy RP revolves around the depth and quality of character design and effort they put into their roleplay. Because you're not allowed to claim you are the celebrity, as in, possess the name, be the owner of it. The same applies to ownership of manufacturer companies, it would be unreasonable to suggest you're the owner of a big real world company. There's nothing wrong with acknowledging real world artist's music - which also exists on GTA V's radio stations. Which brings me to the next point - where do you draw the line? The answer is, you can't. It's a grey area. If you enjoy a song in the GTA V radio station, where does the rest of the album exist in the GTA V universe? It doesn't, simply because "it isn't in the game", and limiting people to not being able to roleplay it is unreasonable. XM radios also introduce real world content into the game. You can't police that. People need to understand that just because we use GTA V, does not mean we intend to be focused in the "GTA Universe". Look to the Heavy RP servers in the past: LSRP specifically is a good one - they used SA's LS as a staging ground for RP, but acknowledged real world brands, cars, music and such. The same should apply here, we simply use V's LS as our location to RP in, and don't force ourselves into GTA's universe with ridiculous lore like an American-Australian war and action movie style/dramatised gangs that aren't as realistic or well-thought out as our factions are. Let's say I'm wearing a white shirt, why cannot I roleplay it being a polo shirt with a specific design, simply because it is not provided by the game? It is perfectly fine to roleplay something being different than it appears in game - WITHIN REASON. If I'm RPing my white shirt is a bulldozer costume, it's unrealistic, just like roleplaying a Buffalo is a Ferrari as you mentioned. However, you can reason the Buffalo is a Mustaang, because it has similar design, and we are not limited to what GTA provides us.
