Vespucci Beach, home to a myriad of various ethnic groups, predominantly filled with Hispanic and African-Americans for the majority of its history. Unknown and for the majority, overlooked by most, a small Asian community was fostered in the lower income apartment blocks found through the various streets of Vespucci, specifically between Vitus and Cortes street. A flock of Korean Americans began to buy stores and other properties in the area, driven out of their homes after the 1992 Los Santos Riots that took place in Little Seoul. Many Korean business owners were completely devastated after the riots and many after their move to Vespucci were deemed by the Korean American community with in Los Santos as Korean liberals as they sought to band together with other racial minorities in order to bridge the divide between Korean Americans and other racial groups. Like their fellow Korean Americans in Little Seoul, the small Korean community would create a mutual connection with the various Hispanic groups in Vespucci.

During the late 90s, as the presence of La Eme began to take its toll on the Korean American community. Gangs such the Vespucci Beach Crips began extorting local business owners due to the surrounding area being affected by gentrification and a lying undertone of African-American and Asian-American tension from the 1992 riots. The small community began banding together and a relatively small group of youth created the first Korean street gang in Vespucci known as the Heuglyong. The group sought to take advantage of Vespucci 13’s dominance. The two groups had a mutual enemy and while it is not explicitly noted that the two groups worked together, many long time residents would tell stories of seeing various V-13 members being aided by Korean store owners on the guidance of the Heuglyong. As the looming threat of the Crips began to slow down, members of the Heuglyong began to seek other opportunities, moving back into the Little Seoul area to fully operate in secrecy. The gang became more organized, creating a “farm” for younger members in their old stomping grounds of Vitus St and Magellan Ave.

As of the 2016 Los Santos County census, 4.1% Asian Americans live in the Vespucci Beach area with a large majority of them being spread across Magellan Avenue. While predominantly Korean-American, the area has seen an increase in other Asian cultures co-existing in the area. The Heuglyong still operates in the area today, it’s farm system still in use with various members forming their own cliques, hoping for the day to be brought up further into the Jopok who over the past decade have been working closely with the Yakuza.

The focus of this thread is to show the day to day lives of the Asian Americans living with in the Vespucci area. While there is a clear criminal undertone of a Asian street gang with in the area, the idea is that anyone can create a character and come roleplay with in the area. While the gang is predominately made up of Korean-Americans, anyone from any ethnicity is free to roleplay in the area whether it be criminal or civilian. We do ask that for those who do want to roleplay with this group, that your character concept be well thought out and realistic. While members of our group will gladly assist those who may need help, we are not here to spoon feed you everything. For those who wish to post screenshots on this thread, please contact @Jedai or @Rhea with either a discord or forum PM.

For those aspiring to be apart of the Heuglyong, we do reserve the right to CK your character if deemed necessary by the leadership.
