I) A new immersive world of opportunities

During the last months, we focused on doing major changes on the server to push it on the strict roleplay path only. One of the last issues we wanted to find solutions about was the grinding jobs, as It is used by players to collect money instead of roleplaying.

Removing these jobs was not a solution, so we decided to develop a unique feature that has never done before and that will most likely completely change the way of playing for most of you.

 

We're developping a system to allow everyone to start working on immersive roleplay jobs that will promote roleplay and player interaction, such as bank cashier, where you'll receive money based on the activity in the bank. You'll be responsible for depositing and withdrawing money for players, etc...

The system being generic for all kind of businesses, you'll be able to join 10+ various jobs, and also work in the 24/7. Players will not be able to directly use the script If there is an active cashier, only the cashier will have the ability to use the script and sell items to the players.

Their job payments will be at each sale!

If you've always wanted to help players choose the rights clothes and work in a clothing shop, It'll now be possible!

The system will allow players to choose their clothes, and then confirm their basket. The final payment will go through you at the counter!

But you can also do way more! Player owned businesses & companies already started to have more payment opportunities with our new business script, but we'll go further and you'll be able to have a list of employees for each of your stores. These employees will be able to work for you and be paid directly by you after you receive a list of their active hours, etc... This will promote 100% roleplay jobs where you'll work as floor cleaner, sorting the clothes, helping the customers...

In order to allow player owned businesses to have a full control over their employees, all player owned stores will not accept new employees without the approval of the owner!

 

This new feature will give every player the ability to do a lot of new different roleplay with jobs that will reward you with money, just like a grinding job would. This money will be directly coming from other players but it'll make no difference for them as they would have spent this money in the script void otherwise!

 

We'll also promote the businesses with active employees in order to motivate everyone in visiting these stores instead of the ones that have no employees, with various features that will be introduced later!

For those of you who didn't understand this feature at all: you're able to work in a business, only you will have your hands on the script of this business and players will go through you, except for customization related stores.

 

 

II) Citizens employment

Legal factions such as government or the police department will now be able to employ citizens under paid contracts without them necessarely being a faction member.

A list of paid employees will be accessible to all factions and the workers will be paid at every paycheck that they were active on the job.

This feature was requested a long time ago by the Police Department to employ citizens on various tasks or office work, bringing more immersive jobs available to everyone!

 

 

III) Fire system & house insurance

A new unique feature will be introduced with GTAW 1.3: fires!

We have developed a new fire system that allows a fire to stay permanently and spreads around until firefighters stops it. The system will be used to introduce more fire situations for the Fire Department, and also house fires.

Fires will be randomly triggered at various places in nature just like It would happen during hot weather, or in industrial areas, and players can also request a fire to be started after some decent roleplay has been performed, under administrator monitoring.

 

With this new fire system, we'll also introduce house insurance in order to protect yourself against potential damages that a fire could cause to your house!

IV) Mining job reform

The current mining system isn't up-to-par with our long-term visions as a heavy-rp server. 

While it does have real roleplay uses, the truth is the majority of mining is focused around "grinding" and contains minimal player-to-player interactions as a whole. We're planning to slowly move away from that, instead turning the mining job from a somewhat meaningless scriptjob, to a more player-to-player interactive job. We've already implemented an alternative use for ores with our construction system, requiring construction companies to use ores to establish new properties.

 

Combined with the fluctuating values(market), we've seen a whole new industry emerge with a focus on player-to-player interactions. The longterm idea to eventually phase out the auto-sell NPC and change the mining system to a more real, supply/demand situationwhere the only buyers of ores would be other real players. We currently have the construction system, the metallurgy system and the traders using ores for true RP purposes. The idea here is to have enough independent player-ran industries operating for us to abolish the grinding aspect of mining, and create an authentic player-to-player market without removing the actual mining system.

We've heard you!

The development team has been working hard on creating quality updates with new features that enhance your experience on the server but it's about time we looked into one of the more important aspects of both legal and illegal roleplay. Whether you're part of the Police Department, a criminal organization, or you're just a civilian exercising their right to carry a firearm, this feature is sure to provide you with a more satisfying experience.

 

Here's what you can expect from this:

  • Greatly increased damage values for guns
  • Damage modifiers depending on the body part that was shot

Example:

  1. Before: The Combat Pistol deals 9 damage to the chest and head and 6 damage to the arms and legs. It takes ~11 accurate shots to take another player down.
  2. After: The combat pistol deals greatly increased damage. It takes 3 shots to the chest OR one shot to the head and another anywhere on the body to take another player down.

VI) A new UCP!

We would like to announce the upcoming 2nd version of the User Control Panel!

The main focus on this version was a complete overhaul of the front-end part of the UCP, as well as adding more features, addressing user-friendliness and responsiveness. We are still working hard on completing the UCP and we are still adding features, doing fine-tuning and making sure that everything is ready before we release it.

 

It is also important to mention that while work is being done to complete the new UCP, we are still providing support and critical fixes to the current UCP to make sure everything is running smoothly.

VII) Still coming soon... Rage 0.4

Rage 0.4 is still expected to release soon, what will be the direct impacts for us?

  • Furniture system finally fixed, as objects will not disappear anymore!
  • Mods such as new hairs, clothes, and vehicles will be able to be brought in-game. We currently choose to not use any mods as it causes reload issues for a lot of players.
  • A better synchronization for vehicles, gunfights, players...
  • Better performance for the client
