Grizzly Bear in Raton Canyon

After few reports from the tourists and locals, that they saw few bears in the Raton Canyon, we decided to put surveillance camera on the place they described. Just after midnight our camera pictured mother of  grizzly bear (Ursus arctos) with two babys. Grizzly bears symbolize everything that is treasured about the great outdoors and wilderness life. They are admired for their fierceness and brute strength. These same qualities are what make the grizzly bear an extremely protective animal mother. The cubs stay with their mother for at least two years, and they may stay up to three or four years if the mother does not get pregnant during her next estrous cycle.

if you're at all outdoorsy, you may, at one time or another, come face-to-face with a bear. You can handle it. You just need to know what to do - and what not to do.

*Leave your damn earbuds in the car and be alert to every sound and movement.

*Make noise. Unfortunately, hiking quietly endangers you. Call out and clap your hands frequently. Sing loudly.

*Beware of blind corners and loud streams where a bear may not see or hear you.

*Hike in groups of at least three people.

*Carry bear spray! Repeat. Carry bear spray
