Grove St. Tyrants is a gang with deep Haitian and Vodou roots. A significant majority of their leadership are Haitian and ascribe to Vodou beliefs, however, it is not a requirement that one must be Haitian or followers of Vodou to join.
The Tyrants aren’t shy about their affinity for trafficking of all kinds, be it drugs, guns, or even people. The result of oppression by police and those who share their African roots, violence and distrust are as much a part of the Tyrants as their name.

DeMar Remy | Street Name: Raj | Age: 20 :

Short bio: DeMar was born and raised within Los Santos, San Andreas. He comes from Haitian immigrant parents who made their travel across the states while DeMar was still inside the womb. Once his parents (Vanessa Remy his mother and Wesley Remy his father.) made it to San Andreas they decided to settle down in South Los Santos within the “lovely” neighborhood of Davis. Couple weeks after they had settled down DeMar was finally born on December 12th, 1997.

Extended Bio:

Spoiler

Growing up within South Los Santos DeMar’s parents had a hard time communicating amongst the English speaking population of Los Santos but since DeMar was enrolled in the local elementary school he picked up the English language with no problem. Going through school DeMar experienced a lot of bullying from the local street gangs due to his parents being Haitian immigrants, robbing him of whatever he had when he got off school, this forced DeMar to adapt quickly to the ruthless ways of some of the other kids in which he would go off to seek help from other school mates who had Haitian roots, remaining tight-knit and providing one another with protection.

Once DeMar reached high school, him and his Haitian “clique” really started to grow at a rapid pace but not only with Haitian related individuals but also people from other African ethnic groups. People within his community really started to take notice at DeMar and his strong leadership capabilities, some saying he was a “protector” of the sorts.  Most of the kids that would get picked on would immediately turn to DeMar and his crew for help and DeMar knowing their struggle would in return help them out, finding the perpetrator and “shaking” them up a bit and jacking whatever they possess within their pockets. This led DeMar down a slow path of destruction as he was using the same exact methods that the gangs were using against him when he was younger. The more and more they used violent methods upon the bullies the more and more they became cocky and ignorant leading them down a path of illegal activities such as robbery, stealing vehicles, and vandalism.

He has a strong sense of Haitian identity, having been born there, to the point of dismissing those who don't share his Haitian blood. While he doesn't always engage in criminal activity, he certainly doesn't shy away either.

Extended Bio:

Spoiler

A Haitian orphan without a name, Ati-A Sou adopted the nickname given to him by the other kids: Ench Ti Gason, or “Hinche Boy” at a young age. Growing up as an illiterate street rat who recognized strength in numbers, he often conscripted other orphans to help him get food. At the age of nine, he met his new caretaker, Roseline Laurent, a mambo asogwe: a voudou high priestess, while trying to steal from her. She fed him every day she left for the market, using it as an excuse to keep an eye on him. It wasn't until he was 12 that he officially moved in with her and became her de facto child, helping her out as she was up in age. In return, she educated and instilled him with a sense of discipline, becoming the role model that he never had prior. He was enveloped in the teachings of voudou for 6 years before she passed, and now a man, was given his name: Ati-A Sou Laurent. With his name came all of her knowledge of voudou, trusted to him to keep. In 2010, an earthquake battered Haiti, and Ati-A Sou was one of the many Haitians affected by the tragedy. Having lost everything, he followed in the footsteps of many Haitians lucky enough to flee the country, and went up North to Florida. With his strong national pride, his goal was to connect Haitians living abroad with their roots and inspire them to further themselves to benefit their broken homeland. Initially, he sought the largest concentration of them, but complications with the locals and the already booming pride of Haitian immigrants fanned by groups like Zoe Pound made it hard for him to realize his place. However, he briefly joined Zoe Pound, assisting them primarily with smuggling and attempting to rejoin them with their roots. He realized quickly that while there were many members open to the idea, it was going to be more difficult than anticipated to assist these naturalized Haitian descendants that had grown comfortable with 1st world culture and forgotten their own. After a hit crew got busted due to his growing apathy, he quickly cut ties and disappeared. Fearing retaliation for leaving the gang, he migrated across the country, landing in Los Santos. It was there that he met DeMar Remy, a local first-generation immigrant with pride for his country and an eagerness to help his people succeed. They became friends almost immediately and sought out other Haitians to carve their path in Los Santos' history.
