Recently we published a news story showing the bloody execution of a government agency official. Since then we have had another video sent to us, however not from the same group. The video is very cryptic in how it portrays its message. But first here's a rundown of the events since that first video was released.

When the video last got published we had hoped by releasing it to the public, we'd make everyone take more caution in how they act as to not find themselves the front page of the next terrorist video, and to a degree I thank you all for following that request as we have not heard back from the same terrorist group since, but nor have we found the body either. LSPD Detectives seem to be running clueless on who has created such a thing.

In a press conference recently which we were lucky to attend, Caden Lin, the Chief of Police had the following to say;

"Citizens of Los Santos, friends, and family. I have received the message from the unknown anarchist group, and the disturbing video that was presented to me earlier this week regarding their statement and their actions. The Los Santos Police Department is actively investigating the incident at hand, and we will take the measures as required to put this at a stop. Not one person should have to lose their life away over the petty actions of a group fuelled by hatred and focus in creating chaos. We will not let them have it.

That being said, we're continuously building our law enforcement capacity of patrol officers and investigatory services specialised in the forensics field to assist in the investigation upon satisfactory completion of the Academy and embarking their careers here.

We thank you for your patience at this time, and welcome any tips at our local police station if you have any information about this group.

Thank you,

Chief of Police Caden Lin

Los Santos Police Department"

However it seems this wasn't enough for one particular group, naming themselves Solenopsis Delta. They released this video shortly after, and just this morning they've been posting to social media about recent police activities. They had the following to say,

"Yesterday the cops raided the abandoned house next to the Mount Gordo Lighthouse.

The house belonged to Lou Davis, a large icon in Los Santos, who had been using it as a hiding place. Why would he do it, you might ask? The answer is clear.
Lou Davis was a criminal, a supplier for most organised crime groups in Los Santos and has been placed under immunity by the LSPD, because of his relations with the Chief. This has been kept secret until now.

How did the police break through Lou’s immunity though? We don’t know, but we have a few ideas."

Most frighteningly of all their video which we spoke about briefly, I wish I could give a running commentary of what it means however I am yet to figure that out myself, so here I present the video which we were sent personally from an unknown individual using a heavily masked IP address.

This has been Cecily Edelinne with Weazel news, I wish you all a safe night.

A new era for the DoJ? - Exclusive interview with Chief Justice Vizcarra

By Mara Sutherland

In recent months the DoJ haven't exactly been visible nor active in the public eye, meaning that many seeking justice will not have been aware that help may have been at hand to resolve their legal grievances or simply did not know how. All this seems set to be a thing of the past as the DoJ announced a whole set of changes at a so-called 'tour' attended by Chief Justice Vizcarra and Justice Akkerman. Governor Holdsworth was also in attendance but did not speak at the event.

In front of a small turn out Chief Justice Vizcarra outlined the DoJ's plans and ideals. He assured that “Everyone has the right to justice, no matter if they are rich or poor. Myself and Justice Akkerman carefully picked a bunch of public defenders. They are there to serve without charging any money.” During an interview later on that night we asked the Chief Justice to clarify whether or not a request for a public defender would be means tested against the complainant's background. He confirmed that it it would not be.

This could bring it's own set of problems with people from wealthy backgrounds abusing the service to save themselves some legal fees. Shouldn't they be means tested and asked to pay their own legal expenses to help save the DoJ's resources for those who are less fortunate? These resources Chief Justice Vizcarra admitted, are currently limited. It's a reasonable question to ask but his speech suggested that this would hopefully be addressed with changes brought to the DoJ recruitment process, State BAR certification changes and scholarship offers to those from low to average income backgrounds. The said changes aim to simplify the recruitment process and encourage more motivated lawyers to come forward to help citizens via the DoJ. Chief Justice Vizcarra also stated that any independent lawyers who excel in their courtroom performances would be offered a position within the DoJ.

The event branded by advertisements as a 'tour' was more of a speech, with the atmosphere of a mediocre product launch nobody attending seemed all that interested in. With the lack of reaction from the crowd some tumbleweed would not have been out of place but the Chief Justice remained admirably enthusiastic throughout and took it with a pinch of salt. He seemed optimistic about the department's prospects for the future, particularly with the new scholarship that he announced.

As we touched on earlier Weazel News was able to get an exclusive interview with Chief Justice Vizcarra to discuss the scholarship and other changes in more detail. Click below if you'd like to read the interview.

Q: Tell us a bit about yourself and your background so our readers can get to know you a little.

A: My name is Jose Vizcarra, I'm in my mid 50's and from Oregon. I'm a former lawyer with a degree in law. I became a District Attorney and then Attorney General with hundreds of cases under my name. Oregon became a place I was not happy to live in, so I moved to Los Santos and continued as a Justice. After some years I was given the opportunity to become Chief Justice.

Q: Roughly how many cases have you overseen in Los Santos, which is surely different from Oregon considering the crime rates here?

A: Back in Oregon we were handling minor crimes, traffic offences and things like that. Once I moved here it became heavier crimes, like drug charges and murders. So in Los Santos I would say around 100 major cases.

Q: Could you summarise the changes to the justice system, so that those who were not at the event are aware of what's on offer to them?

A: The courts system remains the same for now. The DoJ is what went through the major changes. We changed the rank structure and the recruitment process. The other major changes are the BAR certification and the aforementioned scholarship. We completely changed the way of filing a case, you do not need to be rich to file one. Our public defenders are available and ready!

Q: How does one go about filing a case? Not everyone will be aware of this process.

A: Like I said during the event my first suggestion is to discuss with your lawyer or the DoJ. Cases that are not worthy will not be accepted. Your lawyer will ask you what you want from the case, whether it's an apology, monetary damages, property recovered, your car fixed or any other expenses. So be clear with what you want from the case. If you don't have a lawyer the DoJ has free representatives.

Q: Say someone wanted to file a case with the DoJ against the LSPD, what's the criteria for that to be deemed worthy of trial or hearing?

A: Well first a report has to be filed with and investigated by the PD's IA, if there is solid evidence against the complainant the case will be marked as no-misconduct. We will receive the case but if we see that the evidence supports the IA's decision we won't open a lawsuit.

Q: If the IA don't rule within a certain time can they still file suit? If so what's the time limit on that?

A: No, but there is a reasonable point. We have to allow for pending investigations or inquiries, witness reports and other replies. We can't do much beyond that.

Q: Might I suggest implementing some sort of official time limit on IA cases, I believe this would encourage them to work within that reasonable point you mentioned. Otherwise it would be unfair to the complainant.

A: Agreed, definitely a topic for discussion with Chief Lin.

Q: How does the scholarship work exactly and what can a candidate expect to get from one?

A: One month from today (19th March 2018), anyone who wishes to receive a scholarship should schedule a meeting with us. They will tell us something about themselves, their vision, their background. The scholarship is meant for people on low to average income and many factors are to be considered; education, motivation, personality you name it. Another bonus would be the offer of employment with us once certified. Scholarships will also be offered a 50% discount on State BAR certification fees for a limited time.

Each student will receive their own mentor, who will teach them the skills they need to know and show them the job. I want everyone to be given a personal approach, not everyone is the same and needs a different amount of time or effort but I believe everyone deserves a chance.

So is the DoJ ushering in a new era of activity, visibility and free justice for all in our great city? Or are they rushing ahead ill-prepared and unable to deal with the large volume of cases they admitted that they expect? If there's one thing Los Santos has been lacking it's easily accessible legal representation. So this is surely a move in the right direction for the DoJ. Rest assured that we at Weazel News will be following this closely. This was Mara Sutherland reporting.

'President of Digital Media's Notes: With the old government being defunct for well over a few months now, the longest governmental shutdown in LS History, we're excited to see the formation of our own state DOJ. We at Weazel News hope that we will be able to work closer with them in the coverage of their court cases and possible future events. We're also hoping now they've revived the Justice Department, that we'll be able to get a Senate running soon as to properly appeal and challenge outdated Laws in this state. Thank you yet again for reading another article from Weazel News. As our numbers grow we hope to produce higher and higher quality articles more and more often. If you know someone who's looking for a job in Journalism, spread the word and let them know we're hiring!'
