CEF Licensing

Florida

Recommended Posts

Here is my proposed CEF solution to licensing that removes the need for users to leave the game and do forum busywork. It will streamline the process and allow players to focus on role-playing. The appropriate users will have quick access to handle licensing application while in-game which promotes role-play.

1. Use a Government owned facility to house a Licensing Application system, which can either be mapped ATM objects or computers. The idea is basically just a website that is accessed via CEF and authenticates with the systems that are currently in place. It could also have a photo booth or web cam to build the database of in-character player photos. Can be located at City Hall or an LSPD substation, something centralized to most players.

  • Developers could use one of the many free I.T. ticketing systems out there for the application review process, where everything is tracked and logged until completion.
  • It could be a similar system to the UCP Character Creation.

2. The command /licensing at the correct location opens a CEF window directed at the sub-domain licensing.gta.world (similar to mdc.gta.world). The main page for licensing.gta.world could have the following buttons and menus:

  • Available Licenses
    • A list of available licenses (eg. Firearm, Concealed Carry, Mining, etc).
    • This could be interfaced with the UCP & MDC, for example if you have a felony the Firearm license is grayed out.
    • Licenses could have prerequisites that verify against your characters data before you apply, for example drivers license or the LSPD Rule for Firearm Licenses that you must have spent at least six hours in-game.
  • Frequently Asked Questions
    • A list of common questions and answers to eliminate repeated inquiries.
  • Employee Portal
    • Authenticates users with UCP credentials.
    • Allow LSGOV, LSPD, and other authorized users to login.
    • This portal is where employees can review, and then approve or deny licensing applications.
    • Allows appropriate users to access the licensing applications in-game.

3. Available Licenses: Once a user chooses this option and selects the license they want to apply for they will fill out the required boxes. The application system would work similar to the Character Application.

  • Check boxes, text fields, and drop down menus to compile all required information from the applicant.
  • Players can submit application for review without leaving the game.

4. Employee Portal: This area of the site allows administrative users to review and process applications.

  • Licenses can be automatically issued to the player if the application is approved.
  • Licenses could also be set it so the user can type /claimlicense to receive all approved licenses at the same location they apply at.
  • Users responsible for reviewing applications can leave notes on the applications as to why they were denied.

While providing the interface in-game is an easy to do task, it'll still require human interaction, as not all license requests are accepted.

With the upcoming Laptop And Smartphone feature, you may navigate to the government portal/forums (we can change it into an e-gov kind of website if that's more suitable for you) and apply there ICly.

Sounds like a much better automated solution.
