HISTORY/FORMATION

The BJ Smith Park Brims, also known as the 62 Brims (Six-Deuce Brims) are an active African-American/Black street gang located in the Davis area on the South Side of Los Santos. Originally the BJ Smith Park Brims were known only as LS Brim Bloods (Los Santos Brim Bloods) when they were founded in the 1970s. As time went on, the well organized and structured gang originally formed to protect the neighborhood and it's residents, warped into a violent and reckless group of young men who despised authority. Many residents and older members of the gang credit this downfall to the rising use and distribution of crack, known as the "Crack Epidemic". A neighborhood once full of young men committing petty crimes to get by, was now plagued by dozens of drug related murders and rising gang violence.

The 1980s were a troubling time for the BJ Smith Park Brims, older members of the gang even going as far as to say the gang was almost disbanded. During the 1980s the gang was figure-headed by two well known and respected members, Davontay "Big Fish" Freeman and Gerald "G-Man" Booker. Both Davontay and Gerald had their own cult like following within the gang, which proved to be an issue due to their completely different ideologies. Davontay was known to everyone as a heartless hoodlum, while Gerald was known to form peace among other African-American gangs and establish good relationships with local residents in the community. It didn't take long before the gang divided into two warring groups.

The split was rumored to have happened after Davontay's crew spotted Layshawn "LayLay" Pierce a member of a local allied crip gang, smoking in his car in Six-Deuce territory. After a short confrontation shots were fired and Layshawn was found dead in his car the next morning. Layshawn was a close friend to Gerald, and a close ally to the gang, this is what sparked the internal feud that lasted until the early 90s. Both sides suffered heavy casualties, Davontay and Gerald both lost their lives in the conflict, sparking the start of a new generation of BJ Park Brims. This new generation is notably less violent, despite playing a major hand in the drug trade on the South Side of Los Santos.

CURRENT GENERATION

Despite the BJ Smith Park Brims being known for internal conflict, this is just known as exaggerated history lessons and glorified war stories to current members of the gang. The BJ Smith Park Brims are now united under a strong leadership structure and system of beliefs. The gang currently uses their territory and neighboring housing projects as a stronghold for their current drug operations. This new success and organization is largely credited to OGs (Original Gangsters) and older more experienced members of the gang, leading the younger newer members on a more positive and respect rich path. The gang's numbers are constantly increasing as the glorification of gang life in current times attracts more and more local teenagers.
