So you want to fly, eh! (Follow-up on Aviation)

This thread is a follow-up on years old threads like:

I decided to write this thread because I noticed many players are still lost in regards to aviation, but also motivated to join it - yet they don't know where to start. Aviation has always been quite a niche on most roleplay servers, from SA:MP to MTA to GTA V. It didn't interest many people, and businesses were not set up as they saw no potential in making money from flying to "Las Venturas" to "San Fierro" (hi, gta sa nerds!). The same arguments were here also on V.

But things seem to change! Since a few months, aviation really picked up interest (both as a hobby, but also commercially)! So I thought I'd make a rundown on the current state of things.

Aviation interests you but you have no single clue how to properly roleplay in this area, our buddy @Griz made an awesome thread a while ago. Check it out: https://forum.gta.world/en/index.php?/topic/10380-guide-aviation-roleplay/&tab=comments#comment-77733

Now, you need to know that a PILOT LICENSE is not purchased at a 24/7 convenience store. GTA W has one official faction that handles the lessons and licenses issueing, which is led by @Everett and @TechnicalDifficulty. You want to fly? The first step is taking the lessons. All details here: https://forum.gta.world/en/index.php?/topic/22882-blaine-aviation/

When that's done, if you want to just fly as a hobby (PRIVATE pilot), go ahead & buy an aircraft at either Sandy Shores (smaller) or LSIA (high-end). I also created an Aero Club to bring all pilots together and offer hourly leases, if you can't afford one https://forum.gta.world/en/index.php?/topic/27240-san-andreas-aero-club/

Now, do you want to work as a pilot? As a COMMERCIAL pilot? Here's a few things from the top of my head!

- Become a flight instructor at Blaine Aviation (link above)

- Go see the pals at Pegasus Group @Chuck Lee - I heard they hire helicopter pilots! https://forum.gta.world/en/index.php?/topic/25398-pegasus-group-more-than-a-lifestyle/

- @Outworld just recently started a business (LS Air Services) that's all about aviation and it seems pretty active. Hit him up! https://forum.gta.world/en/index.php?/topic/26195-ls-air-services/

- (Not sure about this) but @Lorenzo has/had a business about it too: Diamond Airlines! https://forum.gta.world/en/index.php?/topic/23535-✈-diamond-airlines-•-above-the-rest/&tab=comments#comment-192093

- Hang Ten runs a tour/parachute service too! Don't see any thread but watch out for ads or facebrowser!

- Join the Sheriff's, LSPD or FD - they all have air units!

So yes, it is possible to work full time in aviation if that's what you want. And please, as our community buddy @Ted mentioned in his thread https://forum.gta.world/en/index.php?/topic/26828-join-existing-factions/& - let not Aviation have the same problems of "too many businesses, not enough pilots"! Join current ones. Have an idea? Hit up a current business and try to grow something.

PM is really cool in regards to aviation. You can lease an aircraft for a pretty cheap price! Check the UCP Vehicle lease section.

Thanks.

I tried following this path as explained here, but after 1-2 weeks, no response on the application to learn how to fly at Blaine. ?

Are you on their discord? It's usually the best way to schedule time online together.

What I am particularly interested in, since you are known among aviation, how is the ATC communication in the real world? Since I am in the LSSD, we have the ATC frequency on by default and more than often, I just hear a lot of chatter and discussions like I did on MSN which sometimes throws me off.

Hey Tseard.

Sure, I can talk for how it's done in Canada but I won't go into details because that might be pointless here.

You have control zones classified by a 'type' which means if it's either controlled, uncontrolled, vfr/ifr, etc. Each of these zones have different frequencies.

When you are in "no" zone, which happens frequently when at under 4500ft, unless you're in a IFR flight, well everyone is on 126.7 MHz. Obviously that type of frequency is a low range, but you still hear people up over a lake "Hey, how was lunch Robert!". That annoys me too in real life. :)

Controllers are never on the radio unless you're in a terminal (near airport) control zone, or in the tower's control zone. Or in a higher-altitude controlled zone...

Kinda a huge thing to explain lol but you get the hang of it.
