Shaderz
Written By: Heaven Ansley Infinity Medical Group World Blood Donor Day 2020 Event: On the 14th of June 2020, Infinity Medical hosted an event in their clinic in celebration of the World Blood Donor Day and it is needless to say that it was a tremendous success. More people than we could have ever imagined turned up for a great cause and the least we can do is thank every single one of you from the bottom of our hearts for helping save lives and improve the quality of life of so many people. It is in occasions like this that the true nature of our society emerges and we could not be happier with the results we obtained. A special word goes out to the Los Santos Police Department, the Los Santos Fire Department and Prestige for their partnership and huge contribution to make this event into a reality. On the other side, we are deeply sorry for those who showed up but were not eligible to donate. Your interest and intention to participate in such a life-saving act is greatly appreciated but unfortunately when it comes to health matters we cannot be careful enough. Please do ensure you meet all criteria next time. Giving someone incompatible blood can lead to blood clumping and agglutination which can trigger a dangerous immune response in your body. This can be fatal in some cases which is why blood typing is very important. Your blood type is determined by what kind of antigens your red blood cells have on the surface. These substances help your body distinguish between its own cells and foreign. Below you may find how blood donation works: Type A: Persons with Type A blood can donate to Type A and Type AB individuals and can only receive blood donations from Type A or Type O people. Type B: Persons with Type B blood can donate to Type B and Type AB individuals and can only receive blood donations from Type B or Type O people. Type AB: Persons with Type AB blood can donate to Type AB individuals only and can receive blood donations from any types. Type O: Persons with Type O blood can donate to anyone and can only receive blood donations from Type O individuals. Blood types are also organized by Rhesus (Rh): Rh-positive: Individuals with Rh-positive blood have Rh antigens in their red blood cells and can receive both Rh-positive and Rh-negative blood. Rh-negative: Individuals with Rh-negative blood have no Rh antigens in their red blood cells and can only receive Rh-negative blood. Blood Donation Statistics: During the event, we had about thirty nine people registering in our system to become blood donors and a total of twenty four people successfully donating, among a multitude of other people seeking eligibility information for a later date donation or just generally participating in the event. Unfortunately, about four people were denied the opportunity to donate for a range of reasons related to concerns with their health, body art, travel and/or vital signs. When it comes to the number of donors per blood type, below is a detailed bar chart: Below you can also find a pie chart with percentages of donors per blood type: About 29.17% of the people that showed up to donate were Type O+ which represents seven people out of twenty four. This was the most donated blood type during the event. Unfortunately, no B- blood type was donated. Additionally, 12.50% were eligible to donate O- blood type, representing three people out of twenty four. While not being a big number, this blood type is particularly special because it can be given to any patient in need of any blood type due to having no antigens in their red blood cells on the surface. Conclusion: Once again, we would like to thank everyone who devoted some of their free time to be a part of this blood donation drive. It was all because of you that this event was as big as it turned out to be. We are also glad to announce that all the blood that was collected will be made available to any medical organization that needs it, instead of just keeping it for ourselves. Stay tuned for more press releases and exciting news we have coming up soon. Edited June 16, 2020 by Shaderz 4 2 Link to comment
