I'm pretty sure the nature of ads as we are discussing them here is not specified as to where they are ICly, television, billboards, or whatever. I would say, when looking at them, they really resemble classifieds or online ads, where adult advertisements are definitely a thing.

If that were the case, then any ad should be allowed, as adverts for selling guns and drugs would reseble dark web listings and that's definitely realistic.

I think the real issue is that there's no clarification regarding what a realistic advert is.

Technically under FCC regulations in the US, as long as the advertisements aren't obscene in any way or showing obscene/pornographic images & videos, they aren't breaking any rules. As someone else quoted, I suppose you never saw the late night Girls Gone Wild ads in the late 90's. One could argue that TV networks would shy away from allowing these ads in this day and age, but we don't have any sort of governing authorities on that front so we must deal with what we have.

I think it just speaks to the need for a total rework of the advertisement system to move away from the chat-based advertising and towards something that would be accessed on the CEF phone, as well as the advertising rules in general. I still think its ludicrous that people can't post looking for work ads in-game, but someone can post an ad that says "Buying cars hmu" and that's allowed ?‍♂️ I do believe Nervous has said a rework is planned, but it's obviously not done yet. Just bide your time and wait for that to be done.

getting rid of the current advertisement system without lettinf it retain some attributes is suicidal for businesses though. in life, a restaurant is open all the time because there are 30 million people in the city. here, we have 600ish at peak and players wouldn't go anywhere if they didn't know

but yeah perhaps it's about time we allowed one of the oldest systems to evolve indeed, who knows

Can't be looking for escorts, dominatrixes or other creepy shit like that via /ad as well. Can't even ask for a tenant or a place to rent on it, but porn and tits are okay?

Either loosen the restrictions for the previously mentioned or add porn companies to the list. Sure, sex sells but there's a limit. At least for me.

Chances are this won't be an issue if and when advert system is improved, evolved and perhaps moved off the chatbox. Perhaps in another 'app' on CEF phone once it's more stable and won't cause any issues.

That the changes in the aforementioned are absurd is not a reason to prohibit the advertising of other types of businesses.

There is no reason to prohibit this type of ads (nor those of looking for rent, jobs, escorts) when the Staff hasn't specified how we receive the ads, it's more realistic to find "I'm looking for a job" or "escorts" ads IRL  than those ads every 10 minutes from a bar or nightclub is open.

I don't see what's wrong to advertise the business as long as it does so respecting the rules and doesn't flood, including rent ads, looking for a job ads, etc.

I also think, that promoting porn-related companies via ad/cad is not okay. And I am not going to explain why - it should be obvious to all of you. It is not about people, who want to hook-up, it is about companies, where you go to Gta World forum thread (which is funny on itself - asking if you are 18 or older, but scrolling down gets you to the porn-related stuff anyways) there are porn videos for sale.
I definitely think, that they should have a different way of advertising + I would even go so far and make them a different forum thread with some extra measures, not under business section.
This will become, sooner or later, a huge problem, if it is not being dealt with - I can assure you.
